  1. Our schedule & 20+ wins are like a girl with really big boobs. We are astounded that no guys will pay attention to us because we have such big boobs?! It is inexplicable!? Well...we are also 297 lbs...have a uni-brow...haven't showered in a month...and pick our nose constantly. Until we lose some weight, shave our eyebrows, bath regularly and stop picking our nose, our 24-win boobs are not going to get noticed by anyone. They are only a small piece of the puzzle. If the CBI is the only guy hitting on you, chances are you're CBI-level material. Accept it, or improve yourself.
  2. Dave - You are absolutely correct. Those two MAC teams had NO CHANCE of getting in the tourney. NONE. ZERO. NADA. Why? - Because they stunk. Period. Stinky teams have no chance of getting into the NCAA tourney. Miami began the 2004-5 season with wins over Purdue and Xavier. They proceeded to go 16-10 in their remaining regular season games. They were 3-9 away from home. They lost to OU in the 2nd round of the MAC tourney. Miami was 19-11 in 2004-5. But you think, because they had a nice RPI, that they somehow got ripped off by the NCAA selection committee? Come on. If Miami was 22-8, with those big OOC wins, they're dancing. But they followed up those wins with NIT-level play. And that's where they ended up. And despite their gaudy, worthless RPI, they lost to TCU in the 1st round of the NIT. Buffalo? I've watched Buffalo since they entered the MAC. At no time have they had a team worthy of NCAA at-large consideration. Their best teams were lucky to merit the NIT. And the NIT results prove it.
  3. FYI - There has been no mention of the Zips playing in the CBI by the PD this week. Zero. They did have a nice Q & A feature with Chris McKnight over the weekend. Of course they mistakenly used Brett McKnight's photo instead of Chris'.
  4. People expected the 26-win Travis-Joyce-Dials Zips to be in the NIT. No one expected them to get an NCAA bid. No Miami team in the last 5 years has merited at-large consideration. No MAC team in the last 5+ years has done what it takes to merit at-large consideration. The best MAC basketball has been at the "NIT/CBI" level for several years. And even then, only the Zips have won ANY post-season games in the past 5 years. The rest of the MAC is o-fer. O-fer 7 years...combined...all MAC schools, save Akron. Grouse about the RPI til the cows come home...we need to get better.
  5. My buddy at work just told me he received an automated phone call from Steve McNees asking him to attend the CBI game tomorrow. YouTube Tom morphing into Telecom Tom? Good to see we're trying to fill the place.
  6. Use the "Ask the AD" feature on GoZips.com.
  7. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no. Was it over when Steve McNees had the ball with 6 seconds remaining? Hell no. And it ain't over now.
  8. Bump. For fun.
  9. Arkansas Pine-Bluff played their first 11 games on the road against the following competition: Colorado, Texas-El Paso, Akron, Arizona State, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Kansas State and Oregon After 11 games they had 0 wins, but a fat wallet. They won 17 of their 21 conference games and made the NCAA tourney.
  10. It doesn't always pan-out. Sincerely, The Hipshers
  11. I think I could buy a CBI home game for what I spent to go to Portland last year.
  12. Any team that buys into the CBI is signaling the rest of of the world "Hey look at us; we are desperate for attention." If that were the case, it would mean that people pay attention to the CBI. I don't think that's the case. I like the CBI. More competitive basketball at the JAR is always good. My over/under is 2,900. Quick, tell me three teams that played in the CBI the last two years? Who won it all each year to take home the title of "we're #98 or whatever"? No peaking now. Tulsa and Oregon State I have no idea whether you answered the second question correctly or not, but if you did you either peaked or you have no life whatsoever. What year did Zipmeister peak? I say 1956. And -- No peeking, ZipsNation!

  14. $20 - lower chairbacks (no Z-fund donation required) $15 - upper chairbacks $10 - adult general admission $5 - youth general admission Good price structure.
  15. Sucks for Shaka that he's in a tough conference. If VCU were in the MAC, they'd have waltzed through the MAC tourney and been an NCAA 12-seed. I predict Sanders will be the CBI MVP.
  16. The frustrating thing for an "old-timer" is the fact that, only 8-or-so years ago, the MAC was a lot better. We were getting NBA lottery picks, winning NCAA tourney games and getting at-large NCAA tourney bids. If I'd only followed the MAC for the past 5 years, I wouldn't really care much about the level of play. But I've watched MAC hoops erode for a while, and I want to see it return to a level where you can realistically argue our upper-tier teams could compete with the best of the MVC, or the Butler's of the world. 2010 was a step back towards respectability for the MAC. But there's a long way to go.
  17. People forget the Rowdies are what...5 years old? The O-Zone, in some form, is decades old.The folks in the OU "Old Zone" did the same cheers as students that they do now.Conversely, if you are a 40 yeal old Zips alum, what cheer did you do as a student? What cheer was a fixture at Zips games 10 years ago? Answer - None. The Zips cheerleaders tried to get an organized crowd cheer going at the very end of the basketball season. It was a GREAT idea, but the execution was horrible. They needed to get fliers in every one of the seats telling fans what to do, and how. Instead they tried to teach a somewhat complicated, very lengthy cheer to the crowd during a 2-minute time out. Bad move. You can't build a tradition in 2 minutes. The Zips crowd participation and energy is light years ahead of where it was even 5 years ago. But it has a ways to go.OU's participation and energy is what we should shoot for.
  18. I don't know how many of you caught the post-game interview, but this quote from Coach Dambrot really stood out to me. I wrote it down so I wouldn't forget --"We're going to have to do some things to get better that I don't particularly care for."Schedule differently?"Suggest" some players transfer?Take a chance on an at-risk kid?Take in a transfer?JUCO?Very interesting comment. I'm actually a little excited about it.
  19. As Keith Dambrot is fond of saying -- "Each game is a mutually exclusive event."If the Zips go out and get pounded by K.e.n.t. (rival)...in a nationally televised...sell-out...home game...the fans will react differently than if the team goes toe-to-toe for 45 minutes and simply fall short.I think most fans have been very fair in any criticism this season. There are a few that consistently go way overboard. Conversely, there are fans that really don't seem to care if we get waxed by K.e.n.t....they're just always happy, and looking towards the future.Welcome to the phenomena known as the Internet Fan Message Board. One guy says ZipsNation is WAY overmoderated. The next guy says "The moderators let WAY too much stuff go." Who's right?
  20. I'm guessing Alex Allen has called it a career? I'm pretty sure he was cleared for his 6th year if he wanted it.
  21. The Zips don't need a player like Kool. He isn't athletic. We need players that are athletic. Not guys that can just flat-out play basketball. At least that's what I'm told.
  22. Zips recruit Josh Egner -
  23. The program was in place well before K.e.n.t. exited the tourney. This is a much better deal than the MAC-n-Cheese promo. Two boxes of EasyMac was getting to be around $7.00.Now it is a $1 lottery ticket.FYI - They sell lottery tickets @ a vending machine directly across from the Q ticket windows.
  24. Zeke's block at the end of regulation was just as big as McNees' shot.
