  1. If our procedure is to suspend coaches for extremely minor violations while the issue is being investigated, we need to revisit our procedures. When the AD throws a young coach under the bus and leaves him hanging to the point that the guy has to resign, I don't see how he couldn't have his hand in it either directly or indirectly. I have a feeling the new AD has really stepped in it here by throwing probably the only coach that could be considered a "fan favorite" under the bus.Another question...If this guy is a marketing genius, how come he could not see an overreaction to a minor situation in this case as a public relations disaster? That is the issue. The alleged "compliance issue" is known by UA. I know for a fact that it is "minor," as defined by the NCAA. There are those who say "a violation is a violation." Ok...then murder and jaywalking are both crimes. If you walk out of the office @ 5pm with a Company Bic pen behind your ear...well...that's theft. I hate the fact that the University has elected to keep the investigation hush hush. It has become a public relations disaster. Not because of the alleged violation, but because of the way it is being handled.
  2. There is no "organized" tailgate. In Lot #9 at the corner of Exchange and Brown is where you will find quite a few ZN members. I've seen Bleacher Bum, ZipsWin, Z-Pouch, Dr.Z, myself, Infofan, Johnny Utah, BirdZip and several others. Look for the flying flags and ask for me. I'll have a beer waiting for you.
  3. "small" might be an understatement. This might turn into something huge.I will go on record as saying it will NOT turn into anything huge. Because it is not. Take that to the bank.If you want to sell papers or generate "hits" you create yourself a nice headline that infers a kid was given money, a hooker, etc. ZipsNation doesn't need to sell newspapers, and we get no income from the number of "hits" our site generates, so we have the ability to keep the hyperbole to a minimum...zero if we so choose. The violation of which Coach Ferri was accused is, based upon my research, considered a "secondary violation" by the NCAA. Penalties range from absolutely nothing, to loss of a car trip or two for recruiting this fall. That's it. And those allegations remain unproven/under investigation at this time.If Ferri stepped down, he did what he felt was best for himself and his family. It is as simple as that. He busted his ass for The University of Akron for 6 years. It bothers me tremendously that this is the way it closes for him. He deserved better. If that is truly the case, then I really don't see why he would resign. Something tells me there is more to the story than your "research" has brought to light.I'll put my money on my "research" over whatever you have. My reputation on this board is pretty good, and I don't stick my neck out to this extent without good reason.Believe what you want. It's a free country.

  5. Funny that on the Macbbs board they locked a jupitertoo thread where he tried his decade-old tired rant/schitck. Now he's on the Rasor blog under the name joe desjardines with the same schitck. The guy has no life, and is so consumed with jealousy it boarders on creepy. Actually, it crosses the line.
  6. I couldn't find the capacity specified anywhere on the site.Apparently it is 8k for sporting events.
  7. That's what I'm talkin about.First off, what have you got to lose? (besides the game, which has seemed lost anyway)Secondly, deep balls and less-conservative plays are only a turn-over risk if you don't execute properly because you are spreading the defense to the point that they can't converge on the ball from uncommitted positions.Thirdly (and probably most important) even failed plays like that pull the defense off of your line. I remember when Bowser dropped that longer pass over the middle, and the very next play was a successful run call.To me, there's big difference between hijinks and a balanced attack. Going deep to Bowser is not hijinks...it is getting the ball to the you best receiver. I wish we did it more often...like about 8 times more per game.
  8. I think that would be pathetic. This Zips team is way too long on talent to run some sort of entertaining gimmick crap.Boise State runs a a lot of gimmickry. It's fun to watch because they execute it well. When we run gimmicks it looks like the cars driving through the Taco Bell drive thru at 3am.We're talking about beating OU, not USC. F-ing man-up and win.
  9. Who do you see in our backfield beating ANYONE to the sidelines?Allen is too slowTorrence doesn't seem to want to do anything but run east/westShuford is a Freshman, and too indecisive. Needs some strength too.Dale Martin is our best RB, but he reminds be of Jake Schifino...great athlete...always injured. We're a different team if he is healthy for 20 carries/game. At his present pace of 20 carries per season, he doesn't affect much.Tuzze moves forward, and hits the hole relatively fast. As crappy as out OL has played, Tuzze at least gains positive yardage. The other guys lose yardage with regularity, placing us in too many 2nd and 13's. 2nd and 13 ain't where it's at.Hey...per JD, Rodgers is hitting on 60% of his throws, so who needs a running game when you've got our "Arial Circus?"
  10. Click me -- "Brookhart said there won't be lineup changes, but there will be new wrinkles on offense and defense."Look out OU...we were just a few wrinkles away from beating CMU last week!
  11. ''The first day always has good enthusiasm,'' UA coach J.D. Brookhart said. ''There was a lot of excitement walking down here. A couple of guys said they got chills. It is our house. InfoCision Stadium is here, it's everyday, it's not five or six times out of the year. This is truly our house and something we will violently protect.''We shall find out Saturday night.
  12. Boast a 3-0 win over Wisconsin and a 0-0 tie vs. Michigan State.
  13. Jordan Thompson --
  14. Noah Keller --
  15. Did Paul Hershey's mom sneeze 1/4 of the way through his birth?
  16. Vince Carlotta:Yes, this look-alike always seems to make an appearance --
  17. Billy Gonzales-Santos: Note: If Zach Thomas has a REALLY younger sister, I like Billy's chances with her:
  18. Cole Bunner
  19. Eric Benjamin
  20. How is Ohio's win vs. BG a surprise? They have losses to UConn and Tennessee, and in both those games they were highly competitive. As opposed to BG, who went down 48 - 0 to Boise State.OU is for real. If the Zips aren't ready this coming Saturday, they'll run us off the field.
  21. Baloney.Like Bowling Green w/Urban Meyer, the Zips wouldn't have the near the money to keep the nation's top football coach in town, but they certainly have enough money to keep the nation's top soccer coach in town. What does the Ohio State soccer coach make? $145,000/yr? We couldn't find an extra 10k to keep Caleb if an OSU offer came about? Get real. Aren't the Zips someting like 26 - 6 - 3 against Ohio State lifetime? Why the hell would a UA coach go there? It's like Jim Tressel leaving OSU for Pitt. The title of University of Akron Soccer Coach is now pretty much on-par with "Maryland Soccer Coach" or "Penn State Soccer Coach." You can be #1 in the nation @ UA. You can get the #1 pick in the MLS draft from UA. You can sell out games @ UA. And you can get paid like an upper-echelon coach @ UA.If Porter leaves it will likely be for a job beyond the collegiate level. He can achieve whatever collegiate goals he has in Akron. If he departs...it would suck, but we would successfully move on. UA is committed to being a Top 10 soccer program. We've been one for decades.
  22. I invoke one rule -- If you think that a player with dreadlocks looks like Whoopie Goldberg...so does everyone else. NO WHOOPIE GOLDBERG PICS! Be more creative!I have yet to decide whether or not to include Emmanuel "Webster" Lewis in this edict too.
  23. The vote tally is looking eerily similar to the Zips/CMU halftime score. Coincidence?
  24. Since GP1 loves Facts --CMichFan Wrote: And what is the guy's record in those games? I'll tell you -- It's freaking 1 - 11!! LeFevour is 1-2 in Bowl games, with a 31 - 14 win against Middle Tennessee to his credit. He lost, IN DETROIT, to Florida Atlantic in last seasons MCB!?CMichFan Wrote -- Thanks for the correction that he didn't play in the Indiana game...that was one win for which I erroneously gave him credit. Regarding the "He didn't start against BC and K.e.n.tucky -- He threw 37 passes against BC and 38 passes against K.e.n.t.ucky?! You act like he sat the bench...give me some credit...all the facts are EASILY searchable.CMichFan Wrote: Roethlisberger lost 21-3 AT Iowa, not in Oxford. That same season Roethlisberger BEAT BCS opponents Cincinnati, Northwestern and Louisville on his way to a 13-1 season!? He tripled LeFevour's CAREER BCS wins in a single season!CMichFan Wrote: You seem to favor opinion over facts. I would too if my arguments were so devoid of facts. LeFevour tears up MAC competition. But on the big stage, he's been a big flop. That's a fact.
