  1. I'd lean Cosmo over Cocky. Cocky is also a former winner and also part of the rabid SEC. Brigham Young does have a larger enrollment at 33300 vs. 23700.I would think we'd want Otto over Seymour. Support for Seymour has been sad but enrollment and moral at Syracuse is pretty low. Prop Otto up to get him into the playoffs and then let him finally go away.Totally agree with the rest of your picks. Really want to knock Goldy and HairyDawg outta here. Big schools and alumni base.Go Zippy!
  2. Did Can't State just lose by 1 to Detroit to start the men's basketball season? Detroit 61 Can't State 60 (sorry bobbyake ... I didn't mean to hijack your OSWooo Hooo thread with Can't but I felt it fell into the same category and I didn't want to start a new thread; lots of good news today!)
  3. Michigan goes down ...Notre Dame goes down ...Ohio A&M goes down ...Can't State goes down to previous winless-in-the-MAC Northern ... ...Yesiree, I do believe it is setting up to be a very satisfying sports weekend! Still to come (hopefully) ...Can't State loses at Detroit this evening in men's basketball (Can't currently up 8-5 early) ...Cleveland Browns beat Pittspuke tomorrow!
  4. Vandy a.k.a. doormat of the SEC ... I wonder if the MAC could become the doormat conference. If you suck long enough, you are banished to the MAC. You can move out of the MAC and up into an open slot in some other conference if you FINALLY make it to a bowl (not hard these days; additional criteria could be "... and win it."). Show'em how it's done Can't!
  5. Whoops! Sorry for any misunderstanding ... let me try again ... Do you think Solich didn't appreciate Akron tacking on our late TD and reciprocated by calling the time-out with 4 seconds left so OU could score and stick it back in our shorts?
  6. Ken is a phenomenal person and coach. I am pretty sure his team will be playing in the tournament this year. That said, I like what we have going on at Akron right now under Caleb and I think the Zips are going to keep growing to maintain a consistent presence on the national level.I hope everyone comes out and supports the Zips on the 16th!Looking forward to it. My son and I will be there. I never attended a soccer game before this year. This will be my 3rd and I'm hoping for a couple of more after that! I was sorry to see Lolla go but Porter has stepped in and done a nice job so far.
  7. Maybe 3-4,000 to start. Maybe. About 300 at the final whistle. Too bad no one could clear the stadium of the leaves for a nationally televised game. I thought it was kind of embarrassing for Akron. On the plus side, we had plenty of room to stretch out.The leaves ... I was sitting there thinking the same thing. Could have been done earlier in the day pretty easily. If you saw them and I saw them then our ESPN friends could see the small piles here and there as well. I understand not wanting to put any money into the Rubber Bowl but spending a few bucks to have someone tidy up the place as much as possible before company comes over shouldn't be too much to ask. You can't polish a turd but ...
  8. Any thoughts from the board on Solich's time-out with 4 seconds left to get one last play (a TD)? A little pissed at Akron for scoring our last TD to push the score out to 48-31 or just playing all the way to the end?
  9. I just took another look at the men's basketball schedule and noticed that game time for the 1/17 home game against OU is 9PM!?! The game is scheduled to broadcast on ESPNU and my guess is we're the lucky ones who get to be game #2 of a Thursday night ESPNU double-header (Bowling Green plays at Buffalo at 7PM but neither lists ESPNU on their schedule). Isn't 9PM WAY past the bedtime of many who regularly snooze in the lower blue chairbacks? Should be a fun one ... I hope the snow stays away this year!
  10. Captain ... any opinion or word as to whether Swiech will red-shirt or not?
  11. Upper chairbacks are still $175 PLUS ... a $5 handling fee
  12. Thank you ziptrumpet87. Nice find and thanks for sharing with the rest of us. Too bad you had to go all the way to Cincinnati to get info on the scrimmage held here in Akron. Excuse me for not checking our local crap newspaper but was there ANY mention of the scrimmage at all in the last few days in the Leaking Urinal? If/when the ABJ goes under, I hope "Disdain for The University of Akron" is listed as one of the causes of death.
  13. We get Gonzaga this year? I thought it was Wyoming at home.
  14. Damn it ... BG interception and return for a TD. 31-6. Put TWO forks in them ...
  15. 4:10 to go 2nd. FG BGSU. 24-6 BG.Would have been another easy TD if not for a nice tip of a pass by Mackey.
  16. Touchdown Bowling Green!!!!! 21-6 with 8:40-ish to go in the 2nd quarter. Has anyone seen our defense????
  17. WHOOPEE!!!! Another Akron FG. 10 and change left in the 2nd quarter. BGSU 14 Akron 6.
  18. WAY too frickin' easy. 14-3 BGSU with a few seconds left in 1st quarter.
  19. I agree. What do we have to lose at this point in the season?
  20. Field goal ... whoopee! Hit the left upright but went through. BGSU 7 Akron 3. 4:11 left in the 1st quarter.
  21. Wow ... easy drive for a touchdown on the opening drive by BG. 12:02 left in the 1st quarter. 7-zip BGSU.Looks like "little" Ryan was pretty fired up before the game. After the easy TD, he probably just a little po'd ...
  22. CJ7 starting in place of suspended CJ11 (unspecified team rules). CJ11 will only play if CJ7 gets injured. Kicker Domonkos also suspended (class attendance/grades) for the rest of the season.BG's leading rusher, Geter, is out as is their #2 receiver.Sure would like to get the win tonight.
  23. Akron 78BGSU 63 I HATE when I do that. That is my basketball prediction (both games).BGSU 31Akron 24CJ7 does a bit better but our defense gives up too many points ...
  24. I LOVE our size this year and I'm really looking forward to the basketball season. I'm going to seek therapy if they treat me like the football team has this year! :chair:What do you guys think the chances are that Swiech will redshirt this year? Do Wood and McKnight help out at center with Bardo or do we end up playing two freshmen at center in Bardo and Swiech and leave the forwards at the forward position?
  25. I sure hope Lou and ESPN2 Company take the time to use the men's restroom as WE know it. A trip to the vererable (i.e. old, delapidated, crappy, etc.) Rubber Bowl wouldn't be complete without it.I'll bet our athletic department can't WAIT for the OU game to be behind us. The product on the field and the field/stadium itself are both embarrassing ...
