  1. Looks like the other five contests this week are well on their way to being over early. We've become the "featured" match-up and I would venture to say we have Hairy Dawg right where we want him. Goofy week with the holiday and it's probably going to be another one of those where if we stay close heading into the weekend, we can put on a big push over the weekend and especially Monday morning to close things out. We all need to stay vigilant and keep an eye on the spread. We were up over 200 earlier today but have gone back down by less than 100 at the moment. A good tune-up as we head into the play-offs. Come on everyone, let's hit our free throws down the stretch and finish with the perfect 11-0 mark. Go Zippy!
  2. Have to admit that I've been coasting while others have been keeping Zippy way out ahead the last 2-3 weeks. Time to get off my duff and help out again. The picks listed above sound good to me. Time to crank it up!
  3. And exactly how can he do any worse than we've seen recently??? Unless he has shown the coaches something this fall that absolutely says "Keep this guy on the bench," I agree that he's worth a look this week against CMU. I've seen enough of both CJ7 and CJ11 to NOT want to see any more this year and beyond. I'll be planted in the Rubber Bowl for 4 quarters this Friday and would love to see the coaches go another direction for the finale.
  4. I'm in the camp of those who think we'll get the first round bye and 2nd round home game.
  5. What a great day - Zips soccer advances to the NCAA tournament and the Zips go 2-1 out in the middle of nowhere to start the season. CMU in football on Friday and Binghamton next Saturday night to get things going at home - looking forward to the short work week! Way to go Zips!
  6. Dang it! There goes the perfect season. Oh well. Go Browns, GO ZIPS SOCCER, & Go Zips B-Ball tomorrow afternoon. Good night everyone.
  7. UAkronKid, I think Frenchy was just talking to the two of us when he thanked those who have stayed up to catch the game . I also see there are 6 other "anonymous" friends . Whoops! Correction - Nav has signed in ... and RowdyZip. Many others, including my son on the couch are
  8. My son and I attended the Nevada game a couple of years ago in Reno and this section of your post sounds all too familier. We had the good fortune of sitting behind the Akron bench in Reno and I swear I could have written the same two paragraphs. Somebody barked back at KD in Reno and he made a similar comment to the players and coaches on the bench. Sounds like that is a button you don't want to push. KD invited us into the locker room following the game but I thanked him and passed on the "opportunity." Everyone was grumpy in Reno as well AND they had it handed to them by the Wolf Pack. If I remember correctly, travel out to Reno from Akron didn't go smoothly either. A beer gut on a cheerleader - male and ESPECIALLY female - do NOT mix. I'm assuming we won't have a picture of that.KD and the team will get things sorted out as the season moves forward. A bit of a shaky start last night but we got the 'W.' Planning to take a decent nap this afternoon so I can pull the midnight-2AM radio shift. Thanks for the updates!!!
  9. Wood = Shaq?!?
  10. FYI ... just got back from the NIU/Akron soccer match. Akron scored the game-winner with about 3-4 minutes left in the second 10-minute overtime to win 2-1! Akron will play Buffalo at 2PM Sunday afternoon. Buffalo scored in the 88th minute of the first game to win 1-0 over Hartwick.
  11. "Special guestsTennessee State gives a whole new meaning to administrative support. Some teams in the 12-year history of the tournament have been accompanied by only an athletic director. The Tigers of the Ohio Valley Conference are joined at the tournament by the university’s president, Dr. Melvin N. Johnson; its dean of students, Dorothy Lockridge, and dean of residence life, Peggy Earnest."Sounds like an all-expenses-paid Alaska boondoggle to me, courtesy of the taxpayers of the State of Tennessee! Gotta love Dambrot's sense of humor .
  12. They make me shiver! I'm sure it's just gorgeous up there a day or two each year but ... NO THANKS!Thanks for passing along the pics!
  13. Ditto here. I told my son that Oregon looked like Akron now that their Heisman-candidate QB is on the bench with a bum knee. What a difference a player (or two) with athletic/leadership ability can make. Too bad for Oregon. I was hoping to see them stay in the hunt for the championship game if for no other reason than a change of pace from the usual big-name suspects that usually bubble to the top.
  14. What the heck. Stams could use a getaway/pick-me-up after that mess of a football season. I say send him!
  15. I thought the MU guy was in the neutral zone as well. Haven't looked at replay on DVR and probably won't.
  16. Good Lord ... a three-hour "Cradle of Coaches" ESPN special.
  17. Come on ... give CJ11 a break. His back leg is getting tired!
  18. that seemed to work earlier in the seasonSorry ... it's been a L-O-N-G season and getting longer as I type this. Can't remember too much farther back than a few plays right now. Sincerely ready for basketball season.
  19. I'll be damned ... rugby punts setting up the successful fake. Put Stec in the backfield!
  20. Glad to see the TEs involved in the offense again this week ...
  21. Looks like CJ7 is coming into the game?
  22. Watching this offense is EXCRUCIATING! TURNOVER!!!!
  23. This amendment was just approved this afternoon in an emergency closed-door meeting of Miami officials:"... white after Labor Day, EXCEPT for special occasions as designated by the Miami University administration."Sweaters ...
  24. For about a half-a-second I thought I was going to see a pic of Doug Penno heaving up his bank shot and then the word "fun" registered and I took the leap of faith that CK wouldn't do that to us. Somebody help me out ... was that a picture of Frye when he was locked on to a receiver or was he in the process of going through his progressions?
  25. Are sweaters, dress slacks, and loafers required or can I just wear my sweat top, jeans with holes in both knees and work boots? How much should I tip the valet attendant? Will he even THINK about parking my Chevy? What are the chances of your QB chucking up a prayer and having it answered?Maybe I should just stay home in my trailer, eat cold pizza and beer and watch the game on ESPN ...
