  2. Welcome. Here is the 'evolution of Zippy': http://gozips.com/zippy/AboutZippy Here is the bulletin on our round-of-16 NCAA tournament soccer match Sunday (w/stats & video links) http://gozips.com/sports/msoc/2011-12/rele.../20111121a3iais Of course that might be at an odd hour for you, being on the other side of the globe. Oh well...cheers!
  3. Ron Zook may become available. He is from NE OH (Loudonville) and I doubt if he'll get another BCS HC opportunity after Illinois.
  4. For what it's worth, on the WVU (v. Pitt) broadcast today, during the scores rundown at halftime, when they mentioned the WMU/Akron score they said that "RI would probably lose his job" (but no source was cited).
  5. If he gets another job, which he will, we only pay the difference. He's not gonna sit on his ass for three years and collect a paycheck, otherwise he'll never get back in. We'll only end up eating a very small fraction of this contract. small fraction? With the last two years on his resume, who is going to pay him a large fraction of what he currently gets? Last year at OSU, Luke Fickell made about $200k. I expect Ianello to end up getting paid somewhere between $100k and $150k as a BCS position coach. So in a best-case scenario we're on the hook for maybe 2/3rds of his salary. You might consider a math refresher course. Sounds to me like Zach is speculating that if RI is fired and gets a BCS asst. job he might make about 1/3 of his current salary there. 3/3 - 1/3 = 2/3 that we would still have to pay...I guess I need the same refresher course(?)
  6. Virginia loses to Delaware...works for me.
  7. Are you at the game? Wondering how the attendance is..
  8. WVU has advanced. Do we know where they're taking their soccer program after joining Big12?
  9. Aw, rat farts. Stay calm and carry on!
  10. All of our starters have been on the field the entire games, per gametracker at the 54:00 mark..
  11. That would probably be it..
  12. Whats the Troy connection?
  13. Thanks for letting us know. He was a great supporter of his sons and their teams.
  14. With a little luck, the game won't be moved to Northwestern..
  15. Well said, but even so, to attract a good candidate pool they're going to want to know they have more than 2 recruiting/playing seasons to establish their team. That and the wasted money are the rock and the hard place the admin finds themselves between.
  16. She mentions which coaches might be available after this season, but not the barrier to getting one: the cost of eating icCoach's remaining contract. Silly girl.
  17. Looks like they're planning to add a lot of fog machines
  18. And I don't think there's any way the U.S. Congress doesn't pass some new legislation in the aftermath to criminalize failure of an eyewitness to report such abuse directly to the police. One thing we're learning from this is that states should not have an option to be soft on pedophilia. All this makes me wonder what safeguards UA has in place for this kind of possibility. I'm sure every school in the country will be updating their policy manuals..
  19. I'd say there's no way PA's U.S. (federal gov't) senators & reps won't have some input into and influence over the investigation and cleanup of this high-profile and far-reaching mess..
  20. as of Wed. night, after the trustees meeting.."...over his apparent failure to follow up on a report of the 2002 incident, in which Sandusky allegedly sodomized a 10-year-old boy in the showers at the team's football complex..."http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/11/09/penn-...-at-end-season/
  21. Welcome to Zipsnation! Happiest man in Akron tonight: probably TW. But you might be #2
  22. OK, why are they even talking about that other "school" during this game?
  23. +44 I saw what you did there
  24. Wow, took a long time....the lockout must be taking a toll...
  25. Remember we are dealing with all the information. I certainly would have broken it up knowing what we all know. But do we know what McQueary knew at the time? Additionally from a Joe Pa point of view, he gets info from a GA, he does what he needs to do with it. Tells the AD and a guy who is in charge of the PSU Police department, that is like telling the commissioner of a police department. To me that is as handled as it could be.Now if McQueary saw what he says he saw in the indictment, how does he continue for 10+ years seeing Sandusky on campus and never questioning what happened. For Joe Pa he went to the authorities, they said they would investigate the accusation, if Sandusky wasn't removed or suspended by them, what else was he to do? Additionally there were external investigations of Sandusky by the youth organization he was involved with and they did nothing. No one is right on how this was handled, because it went on and too many innocent boys were taken advantage of, but of all parties Joe Pa is the one getting railroaded even though he told authorities, they blame him for not telling everyone?McQueary saw Sandusky raping a little boy in the shower! How much more information do you need?? As for JoePa, he definitely did the correct thing legally. That said, how do you not follow up when you see an alleged molester on campus day in and day out? Wouldn't you want to know what was found out?http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colle...I45M_story.html"What he didn’t do, apparently, was follow up with authorities. A man who built his iconic reputation on winning “the right way” passed the information up the chain and moved on.“This is a tragedy,” Paterno’s statement read. “It’s one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.” Hindsight? A more fitting word applies here: hypocrisy. Because it’s simply unconscionable Paterno, who spent his career presenting such a strong moral front, would do so little after receiving an eyewitness account about a child allegedly being sexually assaulted in the building he runs by someone personally close to him.Paterno defended his actions, saying he spoke with the athletic director instead of turning to authorities, in part, because he was not informed of the “very specific actions” McQueary included in his grand jury testimony. Paterno, though, also said McQueary was “distraught.” That didn’t lead Paterno to ask for more specifics? That wasn’t enough for him to do more than he did?"
