Holy Sardines, Batman! Do we have room for another poly-sci building?

This game scares me because too many people already have us at 4-4 and Ypsi has often been unkind to us. A must win game for JD.

Let "The University of Cleveland" join the Zips franchise. We would double the football budget with them paying 49% annually (gotta maintain controlling interest ) which would help tremendously with recruiting and boosting coaches salaries to attract better candidates and we could drop a money game here and there. The enlarged program could then tap into the entire Cleveland market for attendance and corporate sponsorship. When we need a venue larger than I/c we can play in Cleveland (home/home w/tosu, psu, etc.). That should get us to the Big East mucho pronto. We would have to share some control of the program, e.g. coaching and scheduling decisions and naming rights since we would become the Akron-Cleveland Zips (for football only). Wouldn't they rather do that and have a chance to get into BCS instead of languishing in 1-AA?

Question: Does Elliot Bates (center) high snaps affect the play? It does affect the timing of the play. He is our best answer at center after the graduation of starter Mike Schepp. Elliott is leading that group well. It is not easy to snap and step laterally at the same time and still deliver a fast, waist high snap. He probably snapped 10,000 balls this summer. IMO this year would not be the time to start a coaching replacement search, regardless of the outcome. Better to wait until next year after the Infocision era has begun and there is some new buzz and publicity about the Akron program nationally and a nice bump in our attendance...it will draw a better pool of candidates. Like who, you ask? I don't know, maybe the next Gary Pinkel, Urban Meyer, etc. I don't think JD can do enough at this point to earn an extension without the job being re-opened to new candidates. Can he get a coaching job in the NFL based on his volunteer experience with the Broncos? It may be more likely he ends up back as an assistant with another college team like Pitt. Time will tell.

It's all good...just consider the source. They have to rag on our facilities to feel better about their own. They're the ones who have to compare what we'll be playing in next year against what they play in. We'll find out who has the recruiting advantage in that regard going forward.Our move up to 1-A 20 years ago should have been accompanied by some major facilities upgrades to make us more competitive but we didn't have the budget back then. That should have included overhauls of the RB press box, locker rooms, restrooms and lighting. But if we had done all that then we probably wouldn't be getting a new stadium on campus for quite a while longer. So the facility lean years are now behind us and the future looks bright whereas BG's successes are coming a lot harder than they used to.

Looks like there will be video broadcasts of the Ohio and Temple games as well on Zips Zone. The annual price is 49.95, or if you don't want to commit to that you can pay 9.95 per month and cancel any time. When I subscribed before, the video did not have any audio "attached", although you could play both...they just weren't in sync which is kind of a PITB. It looks like the MAC site doesn't have any options other than purchasing 1 individual game.

Maybe one of the players or someone within the athletic dept. should be assigned to check the NCAA site regularly for rules changes. Too bad the NCAA is too lame to send one email to each school to inform them of any updates.

I also like the white jersey & pants w/blue & gold trim...very different from what we're used to but reminds me of the basketball home whites.

The beanie, the rugby shirt, the high-tops, no skirt, no makeup or jewelry...Zippy is quite the tomboy. I've seen her open a can of whoop-ass on the Y-town Penguin, too. Transgendered maybe? (but the pouch was too useful to give up?) Even the name is not definitive. The debate rages on...

One of you has to be lying. I think the beanie and the pouch create the conflict. Beanies are normally seen on boys but boys don't have pouches. I think Zippy is therefore androgynous.

Well, let's hope they don't get into any fights or trouble...the team doesn't need discipline or legal problems. JD should advise the players to keep their drunkenness off-air and the other JD should refrain from asking players how they intend to celebrate a victory.

I think some caution is in order here. You've got a car full of teens just reaching driving age and they hear a CFB player, whom they probably admire, talking about getting drunk, and everyone thinks it's funny...I just think that sets a dangerous tone. It surprises me that JD has his players saying that and that Dunn & French are fishing for that comment for giggles.

The reason the numbers are so big on the blue uni's is because they covered the printed on numbers with sown on numbers and to cover them up completely they had to use a bigger font. But I agree French can't see the numbers now so once you put him up in that high press box at the info maybe they shouldn't make them much smaller at all.If French is having trouble seeing numbers now, he's really going to need a spotter at Infocision. When you think about how high up press row is going to be (70 ft.?) and then the field is another 20 ft below ground level...he'll be about twice the distance from the field and just won't have as good a view of what's going on down there. The completed press box and suite portion of the stadium will stand 168 feet over the gridiron action and will do so at an incline that insures excellent sightlines from every seat.

Speaking of monitors...I forget what's been said about having them in the concourses and suites/loges but if they have them then they would always have a video feed for home games to make available on Zips Zone...would they not? But anywhere inside the tower (not including the lower classroom levels) should have a good view of the field so I don't know if they'd really be needed.
