If you believe this, you're in direct violation of the "Jake Edict". You are now on "the list".

What benefits Akron wouldn't be a super conference. Where would the money come from for the other 80-90 teams that don't make the cut? TV? Advertising? Sponsors? Big game payouts? No-no-no-no. It puts all the money in a much smaller basket and turns the super teams into professional teams with paid students. In the gp1 scenario, there would be no promotion/relegation because no team could afford to do so. How would scheduling be accomplished? Do you inherit their schedule and they inherit yours? It's been brought up several times and it's still not a good idea or an idea that would benefit Akron or any other non super conference team. It rewards schools that already have the most. No more Boise Sts., no TCU's, no Appalachian Sts., I could do without that in college athletics. For every team not part of the chosen few, it would be like being the Pittsburgh Pirates and knowing you're going nowhere.

Zips Nab a RB and a DB
UADavid replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
It's an interesting way to learn we'll be running from the I formation. Let's hope the roll out punt is dead like the 3-3-5. Has anyone heard news of a new fg kicker? -
http://www.ohio.com/sports/79674142.htmlUA's Teal Bunbury gets top soccer honor By Michael BeavenSpecial to the Beacon Journal POSTED: 04:32 p.m. EST, Dec 18, 2009 University of Akron sophomore forward Teal Bunbury was named the Soccer America Player of the Year on Friday after leading the nation in goals scored in 2009. It is the second year in a row a UA player has been named Player of the Year by the publication and the third time a sophomore has won the award, which was first handed out in 1984. Former Zips standout Steve Zakuani won the 2008 Player of the Year award as a sophomore. The only other sophomore to win the honor was Virginia's Claudio Reyna, who won the first of back-to-back awards in 1992. Bunbury, also earned the 2009 Mid-American Conference and Goal.com Player of the Year awards. Bunbury, a native of Prior Lake, Minn., led all Division I players with 17 goals in 2009 and helped the Zips (23-1-1) to a national runnerup finish in the NCAA Tournament. He had five goals that were game-winners and four of his five assists led to game-winning goals. He has at least one goal or one assist in 16 of 25 games and scored multiple goals in four games. From late September to early November, he scored 14 goals in a 12-game span, including four game-winners. Bunbury compiled a team-high 39 points and started every game for UA, which was ranked No. 1 in the country by all five national polls for the final nine weeks of the season. He scored six goals as a freshman. Bunbury is one of three finalists this year for the Hermann Trophy, college soccer's version of football's Heisman Trophy. The winner will be announced on Jan. 8 at the Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo. Like you, I really don't want to know what he did to the rest of the stuff you were served.

That's the real shame of it all and why there needs to be a change. It's more about mismanagement and not really about coaches who really don't know anything about football.A good manager puts a person in a place where they can be successful. Bad managers don't. Our coach is a bad manager of talent.I'd be really upset if I thought there wasn't any talent becuae I would worry about the near future. I am actually very bullish about this program if there is a change. What happened to the coaches don't play, the players play? The inability of this coaching staff to teach is the weakness of the team. The team can't tackle, block, run or catch the ball. It's as simple as that. No fundamentals. Throw in a little lousy offensive and defensive schemes and you have the 2009 zips football team.

No one actually said he was the second choice. They said it was a difficult decision. HY may have been at the bottom of the page. Everything he's charged with at UA is deficient. I won't feel any remorse if he leaves.

Are adverbs out of style? C'mon coach, teach something!

I would say the home opener is always the attendance leader with homecoming second highest. 21.5k good weather, 16.5k bad.
