  1. nice catch tx zip, i wrote pride and was talking about reed. i also didn't include walker as he will be a senior next year. since the capt. confirmed that bryan williams will indeed have 3 years to play two. akron will have johnson, williams, and Dk as seniors. they will all expect to be the man and get the bulk of the carries that season. you'll also have talent at jr (allen) and so. (reed and poss. pride) i just don't see all of these backs wanting to carry the ball 5-10 times a game. i am of the train of thought that you should use one primary back (if one steps up) and have a very good change of pace back. if brinson is at the rb like the capt put in his update akron will have a log jam. i just wanted other people's opinion's on who will be around or who should get the rock? do people prefer running backs spelling each other after a few carries? again, its great that we can talk about all of this talent at akron!
  2. joyce finished with 18, i really like the idea of wood starting and rome coming off the bench. i don't wood gets into the flow well both mentally and physically coming off the bench and rome has come off the bench before. also glad to see conyers get some timegreat game!
  3. since it has been confirmed by several people on the board that johnson has enrolled at akron i started to think that the zips will have a pretty big log jam at the running back pos. kennedy is the returning starter who has shown flushes but most would agree has room for improvement. the positive is that he has two years left to work on his game. alex allen and arris reed are coming back from injuries. allen's injury was much worse and it will be interesting to see if he can to return to the exciting runner most saw in the spring game. reed also showed tons of speed and can be a great change of pace back. now we throw into the mix bryan williams who was a monster when he played in the city (95). williams has a great combo of size (for the mac) and speed (sub 4.4) he is already on record for choosing akron because of the chance to play rb. i don't know this for sure but i think he'll have 3 years to play 2. do you red shirt him or split time with DK? speaking of 3 years to play 2, akron will also have a very talented ryan brinson playing for akron next year. brinson was also a monster in high school and some suggest he'll also play running back next year. i would think either brinson or williams goes to the secondary after fall ball, perhaps red shirting. that leads us to johnson who after red shirting will have one year left to live up to his enormous potential. a former top running back in the nation, he'll expect to be a primary option. come 08-09 you'll have DK, johnson, and williams? all seniors and allen and reed as jrs. i expect allen to transfer if the newcomers live up to the hype. that being said this a great problem to have, what do you guys think? that much i know
  4. it looks as if rasor is a little behind on his rivals facts. the new link shows that hill came to akron last week and is going to uva this week. he also states he's going to uva for 08 no matter what now. tough loss but love the addition of williams. two questions, since he grad in 05 how many years will he get at akron? also with williams coming to akron as a potential rb, what does that mean for Brinson? also does that mean morgan williams is for sure victim of grades?
  5. any reason why wood only got 17 min today?
  6. the battle most interesting to me will be the o line. akron only has one returning starter with really only one other that has seen some playing time. i really thought that bates and anderson would be locks at guards by this year but reading quotes from j.d. and by seeing their lack of playing time last year makes me think they may not be ready. i hope they both yet serious this offseason as both have a ton of talent. if both come to play that still leaves two spots open. is sekinger ready to step up at right tackle? what about woods? if some one can step up and solidify the RT. spot the line should be in ok shape as sheepe can take over at C. that would also leave some depth as brewster and holly have at least taken a few snaps. what ever the case akron really needs this to be a main focus leading up to fall ball.
  7. good find... the kid plays way too high but he can flat out fly for some one his size! another great add!
  8. didn't get a chance to see the game but i certainly looked like akron was more agressive and had more depth both leading to Can't State to become more tired as the game went on. great game and glad to hear that it was the 10th largest crowd ever at the jar!
  9. i too got a card with zippy on the front making out a christmas list and it was signed by all of the coaches. the card was sent by the athletic dept. and was really nice. i told most of my friends and family that the coolest card i got this year from from Zippy!
  10. ZIP, did you ask if he had at least seen what the Stadium will look like?
  11. ZIP since you brought it up i did a little search at you are correct. with the increase in games to 12 you only now have to win 6 (7 if you play 13) and can count a I AA win each year. the only rule that stayed the same is that you can only count one win per season.
  12. i agree with the post that akron is having trouble with the match up zone. there seems to be no flow to the game. i have yet to attend a game (plan to soon) so i'll ask is rome and wood not giving enough effort into getting open against the zone or are the guards really to blame? the only game i saw on tv was against uic and wood didnt' play. rome looked like he was asleep for half of the game. its up to these two to take akron to the next level. lets hope they understand what's expected of them
  13. agree, pleas stop it with the goddard threads. he's a walk on for a reason
  14. one reason you wont see a I AA team is that you can only count a win against a I AA team once every three years for bowl eligibility. with that being said, 3 road games is too much. does anyone know if akron is trying to get out of the army game?
  15. 6' 170 at CB is big. look at akron's roster. none of akron's corners are 6' except for a FS. he would be a nice addition to an already great class.
  16. well put. your daughter is a special person. the zipnation is very proud!
  17. that is huge as he's the first true LB to verbal. this is a thin pos. for akron and williams should have a chance to get on the feild quickly. are any DE pospects like Shead projected to switch to LB?
  18. what a tease!
  19. they'll stay small as ysu will have to start to foul
  20. rome fouls out with 238 to go
  21. akron up ten with 4 min to go. it really looks like akron put it on cruise control a little too early. quade and nate are both playing well. akron needs to remember to play d. its what got them the lead
  22. wood fouls out with 6 min. to go but akron is up 13
  23. this is a great site! thanks for the link.... sure wish we had something like this (for free). and so does ysu!
  24. akron has many players from wpa but there are also many students from that area that attend the university now. the campus is great and is a good option for a student that's looking to attned an out of state college.
  25. For some of the early season games, why not give a ticket to every school kid in the city? That's how I started coming to the games. We need to be creative.''K.D. in the abj today....
