  1. getting closer but still more land to buyclick me
  2. i've heard the name Boo Jackson floted around a bit. he's a juco kid with the ability to run a spread o. not sure if he has an offer but i think he has 3 yrs to play 2. i am all for the juco rout for this year. this team needs to win now. the 07 class was really good and another strong class this year will make up for the mistakes in 06.
  3. ME87 i agree with you that he should take the blame and i think the press conference showed that coach agrees. there was a problem and it looks like it has been fixed. now the problems are different and lets hope that JD takes the necessary steps to fix them in the off season. there is more good than bad in this situation.
  4. if Akron had a qb that was serviceable we wouldn't be having this thread. i agree that coach moorehead had a bad season but how do you change your offense for a qb that sucks? if Rodgers steps up next year, Akron is back in the thick of it.that being said; i was starting to question JD myself until reading his press conference quotes coming into the CMU game. it was the first time he really addressed the personal issues. in his decision to dismiss 7 players coming into the season it took away any depth they had. just about every game this year we saw the team fade down the stretch and that is a direct result of the dismissals. again, take a look at the participation report for each game and Akron's opponents routinly played 8-12 more players. Factor in the type of talent that was let go and it's no surprise Akron is 4-8. both Mac and JD knew heading into the season that it was going to be an uphill battle and next year would be JD's the rise up of take the fall season. his freshmen class was above average this year and the retention rate was his best since coming to Akron. did this season suck? yep. but, all is not lost and are poised to compete for the MAC East if they fix the qb spot and make on cord. adjustments. with the transfers of Bain, Bruce, and Pinky a majority of the player holes will be filled.
  5. you are right big zip Jac is the better of the two QB's I thought CJ was a better option but he looks lost out there. He'll need to move to a scat back roll next year but that isn't a bad thing. I am still not sold on Jac but he played a very good game. It's those 2-3 trows a game when everyone is yelling don't throw it!!! and he does that worries me. With coach, I was pumped to see him so pumped on the sideline and it reflected in play on the field. looking forward to WED
  6. great posts guys......again i'll say that CJ is the better qb as he makes more happen when in the game. with that said his mechanics may have gotten worse from last year to this year. that goes to coaching as CJ always seems to be throwing off of his back foot even when standing tall in the pocket. Jac is always going to be a back up. if Rodgers proves he can be the man next year than he should be the starter and CJ can move pos. if he just looks ok than I feel that CJ should be in at qb still. this is a young team on O and a D that is paper thin. hopefully the frosh from this year are ready to step up and close the gap between us and the rest of the league. the talent is there but they need to bring it all together. i hope it's as simple as a new O cord. and some youngsters stepping up. if not, akron could be re building all over again.
  7. great info! blessing n disguise for sure! i feel a lot better about the game now! lets go CJ prove em right today!
  8. "Someone posted that in the Temple game, Temple played 10 more players than Akron"thanks capt. i was hoping that someone was going to pick up on that. we simply aren't that deep of a team. our starters are enough to win more than they loose but the depth certainly isn't there. that should change with another strong recruiting class with many freshmen contributing already this year. seeing Jac as the starting Qb for this week still baffles me. there has to be something to this. i look for a pos. change or Cj is a Qb for a I AA team next year. many say that Cj could move over to Cb next year but I'd really like to try DK there as he was also recruited as a Cb. he certainly has the speed and size wise makes more sense than Wr. coachinglike many i am very concerned about the offensive play calling but what worries me is that if Akron does let coach Moorehead go they'd be letting their best recruiter go. Many of the guys who have stuck and contributed to the program are his guys. Now, can he coach them? I still don't know. The season isn't lost but it is on life support. If Akron can get to 6-7 wins I'll be happy this year and I think JD would be too although he wouldn't tell you.
  9. that's the lamest rant i've ever read on this site! if you buy tickets anywhere like ticket master there's always a processing fee. get over it and support the team!
  10. no....dumb move by jones......taking the ball at the 5 but williams rips off another big run! this game is ours for the taking!
  11. yes....if they can stay eligible they'll be tough!
  12. agreed...look no further than the Saban situation last year with the Dolphins and Bama...... i agree that the jury is still out on Mac but one thing I will give him credit for is the increase in corporate contributions. while some say he's in the red, there really isn't a mid major that isn't. with the interest of akron on the rise i seriously doubt they are loosing any more than the previous admin....that said he still needs to do more....it's the how part that's the though question.
  13. sorry nav but that is last years poll as ohio state is at the top of the poll....the coaches poll came out and akron didn't receive any votes nor did any other mac team.....am impressed that akron came in so high on the mid major poll though...very encouraging!
  14. i love it! great work!
  15. great post capt. i will just add a few thoughts myself. it goes with out saying that the play calling was way to conservative. since Moorhead took over the o the offense the play calling has been very vanilla. i am not sure if this is more of a J.D. thing or if Akron needs to go in another direction. Would love to see coach Pry back!the good:the d line played really well today stopping the run and applying pressure (just not many sacks)the o line played even better. Anderson is really coming into his own!corner and jabari did what they have done all year and b will is a stud!did like the inclusion of Cruz and Merc split out, now if we can only get them the ball?the bad:many people want to see an overhaul on defense but the problem is much more basic. this team can not play well in space. think about the times were an Akron defender missed an open field tackle this year. while i like Williams, he doesn't have the speed to be in on passing situations.Jac...i have picked on him in the past so i won't go on too much here but this system clearly doesn't suite him. either bring in CJ or change the system. it's like putting a square peg into a round hole. Finally:was looking at the participation report and noticed that Temple played 10 more players than Akron. I am curious to read some thoughts as to why Akron isn't playing more guys? The team clearly gets tired at end of games and the lack of depth is killing them right now. Still have a bad taste in my mouth from this one but I will not loose hope. The east is very mediocre and Akron has as good a shot as any to win it all!
  16. i normally don't do this but i need to get this off my chest after watching the game. feel free to chime in.1. i officially hate jac. i know the kid is young but he reminds me of a poor mans Getsy. what i mean is that he doesn't do anything bad just not good. the difference between the two is the mental aspect of the game. luke was much better at knowing the situations then jac will ever be. 2. the losses of mackey and big nate were huge todayi wont get into what #19 brings on the field as its already been talked about on previous threads but with out robinson manning the middle akron becomes an average mac front that gets tired quickly. they will do better in conference play but they need him back if they want to make a run at the mac crown. 3. it looked like the defense gave up todayyes i already pointed out that they were missing key players not to mention grant is still playing on one leg but the lack of effort towards the end of the third is inexcusable. i expect them to turn this around next week.4. there is some good to come out of thisthe o line played much better this week. they created holes for the running backs and gave jac plenty of time in the pocket.williams and allen are a great 1-2 punch and will continue to get better as the season goes on. jabri is a stud over all the game was there but it seemed like the life was taken out of this team in a three sires span. 1. the play to end the 1st half (enough said) 2. the 3 and out after creating the fist turn over of the game 3. the fake put called back on a phantom holding calllets just hope cj starts next week and the team comes out fired up for central!
  17. we'll i posted a prediction for the army game and they won and didn't for the next two and they lost so i'll make another prediction to get the zips off and running for conference play.Akron 27Can't 14both teams have trouble moving the ball in the first half but we are the deeper team in this game and pull ahead in the second. tate gets a pic and williams and CJ both run for scores. Can't gets to 14 with a late score but the games already out of reach. only concern is if big nate can't play. he's been a huge (no pun intended) reason the lb's have been recording so many stops. lets hope he can gut this game out! i'll be down around 830 for the game i can't wait!pat pat! what a game! i can't wait for the next game. i really think these guys are only going to get better as the season moves along.

  19. skip i am saying that...that doesn't count for anything just my observation so far after seeing akron twice and many other mac schools on the tube. if you have seen a better defense i'd love to know who so i can catch one of their games again.
  20. great posts guys!!!! i had a blast down in c bus and agree whole heartedly that the walk to and back is a bit long! happened to park next to another zip alumni who was very nice. while the akron fan base was small (compared to the rest of the crowd) i was pumped to see how loud we were. much props to the people who made the trip especially the rowdies! for the game, everyone on the defense played great but i'd like to point out the play of big nate and stokes. nate's best game as a zip by far!the o line will be great but they aren't strong enough yet to dominate a game up front. wish we didn't have to see the running back go up the a gap every time on first down. left us with way too many third and long situations. after watching both qb's i'll still stick with my surprise that CJ isn't starting. while both didn't do much, CJ clearly brings more to the table as a playmaker and that is what the offense needs now.jabri is the man out there i will only nit pick on J.D. once as i was stunned when he decided to punt on forth and six late in the game after akron recovered it's final fumble. the d was gassed and it was the only time the offense was in ohio state territory the second half. overall, i was really pleased with the effort although a little bummed that they played so well and couldn't take advantage of the opportunities presented to them. the team will only get better and has the best d in the mac by far. the offense will come around and i am much more relaxed about where this team will end up and that is in detroit!
  21. amry is breaking in a brand new line and a has no talent at qb. they do have a nice running back but it will be very hard for them to move the ball. i saw your prediction and i have to say that you will be way off. army is not very good.
  22. 24-3 zips. Akron gets 3 pics and sets the stage for a more opportunistic defense this year! Can't wait till Saturday!
  23. I'll be in the muny lot.....got to be were all the action is!
  24. I said before that I'd be surprised if CJ didn't win the job and now I am....... JAC truly out played CJ to win the job. IMHO with J.D. playing CJ in the 2nd for at least the first game shows that he believes in him and I still think he wants him to win that spot as he brings more to the table athletically. Another option is to simple let CJ run out the string at QB so he doesn't get pissed and transfer. After he cools down you look at changing pos? I am not sure still what this means yet but I am comfortable with JAC as the starter as he kind of reminds me of a smaller Dan Lafavor sp?....good tools, quick but not fast, makes good decisions, strong arm but not an overpowering arm. Can't wait to see how it all plays out in one week!
