  1. God, I love sarcasm!
  2. I have to agree wholly with GP1 (Holy agreement Batman!). But I also understand where mivid12 stands, after all, I was a sociology major!. American Football holds a big place in the pantheon of the entire national "mystique", and I suspect that those who point out the medical dangers of the game are pushing an idea which some people just cannot accept. Kind of like politicians undercutting the national pioneer mentality with social welfare programs. Well, as they say, The whole nation is going to Helena Handbasket. Ever shop there?
  3. Is Zeke now in the FBI Witness Protection Program?
  4. Hey, even the bard was too simple to throw in with Chelsea!
  5. Well, that's what happens when you lose at home to CMU! Does the loser of UA-MU get to play EMU for the first draft choice? Loser wins, if you hadn't figured...
  6. "Besides the new bowls in the Bahamas, Boca Raton, Miami and Montgomery, another new game will be played in Detroit between the Big Ten and ACC in 2014. It will replace the Little Caesars Bowl, also held in Detroit." MAC I guess has to hope one of these two leagues doesn't have enough bowl eligible teams to fill the slot. However, I can't help but think there's no way there will be enough 6-win teams to fill 78 slots -- in fact, it's becoming nearly mathematically impossible. Have they (NCAA) already thrown in the towel and said anybody the bowl wants can play?
  7. Don't you just hate those low-brow stage crowds. I hear Shakespeare was a Tottenham supporter!
  8. Yeah, me to.
  9. No worries, brah. You can bet Zeke Marshall gonna tear up da Polish League!
  10. Exactamundo! Good luck next season, Tribe!
  11. Wow! Oh well. Happy aloha Friday!
  12. Doesn't quite fit the heading, but who knew Zarek was on loan to Norway's second division? Hmmmm.
  13. We felt like we kind of stifled [sophomore] Pat Forsythe’s development a little last year because, as the season went on, Zeke played better and better and better and we didn’t give Pat as many minutes. But we thought early in the season, when we were giving him minutes that he played pretty well. So we feel like Pat can help us defensively. Keith, that's because you didn't listen to our demands for the Twin Towers!
  14. When it finally closes next year? I thought it closed years ago. ??
  15. Okay, okay. Anyone with even a MAC education can now tell implicitly that GP1's famous antipathy toward the university in Portage County is nothing more than reverse psychology, intended to throw people off the track of the fact that he gained much of his skill set at that very institution. Let's not tell him we got him pegged! Toke stone, indeed.
  16. Note to Legend: Congratulations! You have just provided your audience with the definition of "frontrunner". Your audience salutes you. Oh, and BTW -- does anyone realize this is the Zips BASKETBALL forum??
  17. Hey! The Diamond Head Classic has updated their website no the dawn of another basketball season. http://espnevents.com/diamond-head-classic/teams/ And the good news is, if you look at the roster, Zeke (and Rico and Brian W.) will be BACK for 2013-14! Guess the perogies didn't go down well! Well, I can assure Zeke he won't find any on this island! lol
  18. If that's what the media guide says, I guess I have to accept it, BUT -- my memory tells me we defeated them the year they won the national championship -- I think the year was 1979. Can anyone find that score? I recall Edwardsville started the year slow, losing two or three games by late Sept., including one at Lee Jackson. Then the week after the game @Akron, their coach suffered a heart attack. They did not lose another game that year. I also remember us playing and losing to Howard in Akron the year THEY won the national title -- possibly 1977. Ahhhhhh, memories..... Edit: I found this on the SIU-E athletics wiki: National Soccer Hall of Fame coach Bob Guelker came to SIUE in 1966 to start the men's soccer program. He had previously also begun the program at St. Louis University, where his teams won 5 NCAA titles, including the very first in 1959. As coach of the Cougars, he lead them for 19 seasons, compiling a record of 216–67–21 and winning the very first Division II title in 1972 and the Division I championship in 1979 in their 14 NCAA tournament appearances. So, did we beat them their title year? And the answer is: Ah, shucks. they beat us 2-0 that season, and finished with a 20-game unbeaten streak.I sure coulda swore we put it to 'em. Damn Cougars! Let's get em back on the sked coach.
  19. Come on man! I can't believe you're not giving us your true feelings: The refs killed us!!!
  20. Mythbusters? Will James Randy be participating in this? Skeptical Enquirers want to know.
  21. Okay, agreed. But we need to increase the strength of whom we call a "rival". Why should we want a rivalry with a team we nearly always have beaten? For a multitude of reasons, going back to Jerry Yeagley's (I hate even writing that guys name!) rookie seeason in (?) 1974, and coming up to the current almost impossible-to-believe rookie championship run of Yeags Jr. I have to tag the Hoo(-the-Heck-are-they-)ssiers of Indiana as our biggest rivals. How the Hell come we don't play them in the regular season this year, anyhow?? Go Zips. I'm backing our team, no matter who is in charge.
  22. I like the fighting spirit the guys show -- no way are they close to being satisfied with things.
  23. It's a bit saddening to read that people right here on our own ZN BB are losing faith with the program -- especially this short into the span of a new leader. For Pete's sake, there are only about a half-dozen teams in the nation with more wins than Akron. Don't give up on our team now!
  24. EXCUSE ME! But we are talking Akron football here -- as in Association Football! And in football, Akron is the top-25, or top-10, or NOT the OSUckeyes!
