  1. On a similar note... Everytime I attempt to download the Akron baseball schedule on Gozips.com (well first three attempts, anyway), I get "Internet Explorer has stopped working", and it logs me off. Sorry -- I know it's not Zn.o related, but it's just as frustrating as being a fan of Zips football. Is there a dadgum app for GoZips.com?
  2. Andy Katz' First Impressions. So ours is only the sixth best game?
  3. YUP! HERE'S this years!
  4. What's your source?? THIS says K- You Know Who is the only MAC school getting TV! Whoops! Never mind...Last year's!
  5. Not much of a beer drinker myself -- I've gravitated to late harvest sauvignon blancs lately (lol), but the Liquor Collection where I shop has the biggest selection in town/the isle, and they give a 100 score to Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout. Also to North Coast Brewing (Arcata, CA) Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. Anyone ever try those?
  6. Say "It ain't so", Uncle Leo!
  7. Well, the January transfer Window is almost closed. And who has Arsene Wenger signed for his back line? Oh, sorry, wrong thread.
  8. Sure hope not -- they looked unbeatable on TV Sat vs N Iowa.
  9. Well, I guess I was off-target. I see "the Boss" Gale Agbossoumonde got his US debut late in this one, maybe I was thinking of him.
  10. Wanna know what shocks me on this list: Look at #21 Tarik Salkicic (to Tulsa!). How did he fall that far? Didn't this guy get a cap with Bradley's Senior National Team, right after the World Cup? Was it the same game that Bunbury got his first start, vs South Africa? I seem to remember Agudelo having a big game. Am I mis-remembering?
  11. He had a standout collegiate career at the University of Akron, where he was a two-time All-Mid-American Conference first-team selection and led the Zips to four straight NCAA tournament appearances. Well, I guess it's a good thing to start out coaching at the top, but I gotta say, I'm really disappointed his playing career is over. Wonder how big a part the seemingly minor at the time injury played. Cam did cause me to become a RSL fan -- and I still am.
  12. Nice looking field at Collier Stadium! Either Green has added a new agronomy program, or they have (drum roll, please) added a turf surface. Thanks to Dave & neighbors for kicking in the $$$.
  13. Didn't have time to read the whole thing, but yeah! -- Great piece of scouting and arguing his case. So, who's Rudy? A coach, where? edit: Got it:Rudy Roediger is the Athletic Communications Assistant covering men’s and women’s soccer at Notre Dame College and contributing writer for Notre Dame News, International Soccer Network, and Soccer Nation. You can follow him on twitter: @RuudSports
  14. Had to return to Page 1 to figure this out -- Wondering if this was restricted to Zips basketball fans (from thread location). 1982 alum. Not officially an athlete. Tried out at GK, told "we'll call you if we need you".
  15. I'm all for legalized (i.e., state regulated) gambling. As they say, gambling is a tax on stupidity. And the government needs the $$.
  16. So IOW, he was just doing what Sweatervest did. Ahhhhh, following the great Suckeye legacy!
  17. Zach, you're just trying to endear yourself to the board. Congratulations!
  18. Any way you Akronites can get this guy to run for Mayor? He's gotta be the best thing to happen to the city in the past half-century.
  19. Thanks Johnny and lilroodude! I had the Suburban League at least! Not sure if I remember him there though, as I was already in the Air Force in 84.
  20. Folks, I just discovered this fact: Amato, 65, served as head coach at his alma mater NC State from 2000-06 and posted a 49-37 record while guiding the program to five bowl appearances. He led the Wolfpack to their first 11-win season in school history in 2002 and highest national ranking (No. 12) since 1974. This means Coach Amato once hired new Hawaii Coach Norm Chow, as Chow coached at NCSU in 2000. OKay -- let's get these two together again -- and the Zips on the plane to Hawaii!
  21. You old timers, or insiders at WHS -- was this kid's father a HS star in the late 70s, early 80s? There was a Snowball in I think the Suburban League (Copley, Norton?) around that time. _____(Terry?) Snowball? Racking the memory cells. Doh! OUCH!
  22. ESPN didn't show coach Bowden at all, but they did show daddy Kellogg in the second half. Apparently, however the announcers either didn't recognize him, or preferred not to advertise the competition as they never mentioned him by name. Now on to what was the most obvious thing about this game, namely THE REFS! Those guys were an embarassment to the MAC and to college basketball. I don't often comment on referreeing, as I have several friends who do that job, and I know it is difficult to put yourself in the spectators' bullseye. But, folks in this case, these three took any fun out of what was a great basketball game played by two very good teams. Rarely, if ever have I seen so many touch fouls called -- OK, most of the bad calls were whistled on the Bobcats, so some would say, "keep your mouth shut", but for Pete's sake, if these are the type of officials the MAC sends to such a big game, what do Toledo and Northern Illinois get? Remember the intentional foul call late in the game? HOW, HOW was that justified? And frankly, I didn't think the two-to-zero technical ratio on the little tete-a-tete between Zeke and Cooper was fair -- either Cooper or that knumbskull on the OU bench deserved one too. Key stat: Defensive rebounding by Akron -- for the first half and early second, Ohio got almost no offensive boards. That made a difference.
  23. I wonder if anyone can tell us anything about these two Glenville HS players. (Sean Draper and Willie Henry) They are being talked about here in the islands, because they took their first visits to Manoa about six weeks ago. Appears they may be a package deal, and could go to a MAC school or Hawaii, if no offers from OSU/Pitt/Big Ten schools. Akron has offered both.
  24. Dude! You're describing exactly what happened when I drove around Northridge in September, near the mall! Is that where you live? Only one thing they didn't have. But you can get some. Keep going, turn left at Catalina and proceed 2000 mi. You will eventually discover Okole hao!
  25. In complete agreement with your non-reply!
