  1. Wait! Since when is there a yellow card accumulation rule? There's no such thing in NCAA Women's soccer -- almost positive! Is it three yellows accumulated?
  2. Alright, I must have been looking at an old roster or something. Sven is the #10 for Elmer Bolowich's Blue Jays. Big game between must-win MAC contests. Important for team confidence.
  3. Yes indeed, Buflobo! I know Sven personally. ? Problem is, he no longer appears on the CU roster I saw. Where's Sven?? Honestly, he's (or at least WAS) a scoring machine at Hawaii Pacific (D-2). He was the USDL (summer league) top scorer at Windsor Ontario in 2016. If you see Sven, give him a hardy "Aloha"!
  4. The school down in Jackson used to be called "Kent State Stark County". Or Kent State Stark CC. Not that long ago. I remember the Rowdies pulled a stunt where they called KSU and requested tix to Kent-Akron men's bb game at Kent, pretending to be students from Stark CC. Think they gave them prime seats, and after they arrived they opened their coats to reveal their Rowdies shirts.
  5. When did "Stark State" lose their connex to Cant State?
  6. It's too late! Milwee should have gone years ago!
  7. After the Denver away loss last year we fell out of the top 25. And I think we were 0-2. Not sure if this one win is enough to get us back in though -- gotta close out the season and win the MAC.
  8. Raced home to catch the final 30. Nice overall game for the Zips. MSU not at their best, I have to think. Though the Akron goals were surely legit. The announcers were aware of Egbo's quality, and let the audience know. Only question on their job was pronunciation of Diogo Pacheco's name. Is the first name pronounced like "Jogo" (as in jogo bonito)?
  9. Not at Chili's in Hawai'i apparently. ? I guess its a extra (pay) channel they don't have -- just like PAC-12 Net in Ohio! smh.
  10. Does anyone know B1G Network channel # on DirectTV? If I were home I could watch on cable!
  11. B1G Network isn't on Direct TV?? Not where I'm eating lunch! Thank you Skye Harter. Checking game tracker at least.
  12. This is from Gozips.com. Stats for RBs. Suggs and Devanier have played one game each. Think we need to give them more opportunity. Especially considering what the upperclass is offering... https://gozips.com/cumestats.aspx?path=football&year=2018
  13. THAT is the question I want answered -- in the affirmative!!!
  14. Per Tweet from FoxSports College Basketball Insider Evan Daniels, JUCO post player Camron Reece, a pre-season 2nd team All-American has verbally committed to Akron.
  15. Congratulations to Orville's Parks and Phipps, but us old guys know, there will NEVER be another Mark Griggs! (Class of 1978) ☺
  16. Nice trip, despite the heat (their women's team faced the same that night in Hawaii). Mahalo for the description! Just wondered what the GCU crowd size was. The stadium seats 6500! 2 yrs old. And of course the legendary Shel Hyndmann in the coaches box.
  17. Who would take him at his age? Seriously? smh
  18. Okay, folks. Here's the opportunity for a Zips Old Guy to turn on the Way Back Machine and show how history comes close to repeating itself! I was at the Bowl in, IIRC, 1983 when Dennison's Zips played Morehead St late in the season in a must-win game that featured a play similar to the finish in Evanston. I've written about this before, and I call it "The Stupid Punter Play". Under 10 secs remained in the half, and we had the ball at the Morehead 40 YL. Coach Dennison puts his freshman punter, Kevin Kendall from Green on the field -- but MUST have told him not to kick the ball -- "Just run around till the clock expires." But, he failed to account for Kendall's rookie green-ness. The punter took the snap from center, and there was no rush by MSU, who were willing to go to the locker room. Unfortunately, Kendall panicked, and failed to do what he needed to do - take a knee, and after Morehead players finally rushed toward him (as fans shouted for him to just "FALL DOWN!!") he turned and ran -- straight toward his own end zone -- from where under pressure he threw the ball up like a ticking bomb, out of bounds! Everyone assumed the Zips escaped to the locker room safe from everything but embarassment. Then after the band show, as the teams returned to the field, the PA announcer made the announcement, that on the final play of the first half, the Akron player threw an illegal forward pass from the end zone, resulting in a safety! Fortunately, Akron won the second half and the game that day. I am SO glad that situation didn't play out last night, but even if it did, it would not have given Northwestern the ball at the 30 yard line, with a play to win the game! I can't BELIEVE that sequence was practiced for! smh
  19. God bless you for putting me in my Connecticut Western Reserve trivia place! How could I have fo'got da big merger! Did they have to wait for John D. Rockefeller to die to pull that off?
  20. That was before the great Conference Shakeup, that brought Case Western Reserve to the MAC and Rutgers to the B1G! ?
  21. Repeating this -- sorry if I missed my post: The female announcer said something I have NEVER heard before. That John Heisman not only COACHED Buchtel College to it's biggest victory, over OSU in 1894, but he QUARTERBACKED the team before that! Is that true??
  22. Come on haole. It's ON Maui! Not IN Maui. ??
  23. Well, I'm voting Alvin Davis MAC DPotW! 2 Pic 6s.
  24. WHAT A CRAZY FINISH! Bowden didn't know they couldn't run out the clock???
