Yes, bad behavior DOES go back a WHILE on Akron basketball! About 1991 Coach Crawford had a supposed phenom freshman who got involved with another player in one of the first practice sessions of the fall. Both were sent to the locker room to "cool off". It didn't work as the other player took a chair to the "phenom", breaking his arm. Result: No more phenom AND the attacker left the program. Looking at the positive side...We have additional scholarships available!

No coach does more with mediocre talent than Hawkins. Notice, the years his teams perform best have been when expectations have been very low. When his team is seen as a contender, they tend to fall on their faces. He's also the best surfer among all MAC coaches, and the one who would best fit on the set of a Minions film! <3 Steve!

I'm shocked no one has pointed out that Akron and Carnegie Mellon have already established a long and fierce rivalry in interscholastic competition. Alas it is not in basketball, football, or even riflery but rather in concrete canoe racing that these rivals are best suited. Will it be a good day to take to Summit Lake to renew the rivalry?

I got the weekly Akron Athletics e-mail today, and in part it says Akron's 2019 MAC schedule has been announced. However, I searched all over the e-mail and can't find what that schedule IS. Anybody seen anything specific?

I think I can spill the beans now. I was told by a person with contact to Portland Timbers officials that Caleb had agreed to the Galaxy job back in October. That was just before his visit to Akron for the Hall of Fame honors and soccer program celebration. Since it has taken so long, I figured my contact must have gotten his wires mixed and I was truly hoping Caleb would come "home" to the midwest. I guess the roommate connection (Galaxy GM Chris Klein was his IU roommate) and $$ won out. Personally, I have questions whether he can handle the LA limelight. That club is a long way from being a contender. But...so was Portland when he arrived!

The final NSCAA poll came out today, Tuesday. @MarylandSoccer tweeted the preseason and final polls, showing the Terrapins moving from unranked to number one. But the interesting thing I found was this: Akron received two first place votes in the last vote! Like, huh? ?
