    During last night's ESPN2 broadcast, the color commentator mentioned the name of the person who is apparently Akron basketball's "conduit" for Houston high school basketball recruiting -- Dan Robinson. I Googled during the game and found one blog post apparently written by someone by that name about the Houston hoops scene. He has a relationship with Charles Thomas. I had long wondered how the Houston pipeline was established in the first place, and the only connection I had ever found was the women's bb coach at one of the HS's that we recruit (Cypress Springs, maybe) was a former KSU player. Anyone out there know more about our connection?

    Oh, my goodness! May Fred Thomas be blessed in his passage. Fred was deeply committed to those things he believed passionately about -- Zips hoops and those players and staff associated with it. This hits me hard, since Fred was my steadiest contact in the Land of the Zips before this bulletin board came into being. We fell out over politics -- which was not surprising and did not stop our friendship. I had occasional texts or messages from Fred as recently as last bb season. We used to talk about his plans to return to the islands, and his favorite eating places in Honolulu. He would talk about his daughter, who was his closest family. I hope and know the team will give him an appropriate send-off. Aloha, Coach Thomas!

    If PCCC played against everyone in the MAC the way they play versus us, they would be the second-best team in the league. Again I have to say, like after the OU game, we played like crap, and very nearly emerged victorious. #MoralVictory?

    Is there a video of the final six seconds, after Ball State's last FG? We went the length of the floor...Big Dog was fouled and made the second of two FTs. Then...we stole the in-bounds throw?? I'd love to see those 6 ticks. Must have taken a while to play out. smh!

    Yeah, well ESPN was just relaying the info received via the Akron sideline team. The Gametracker computer program is operated by a person employed by UA, and that is what made me think we had lost!

    Holy crap!!! Am I the only one who got tricked by the Gametracker that showed the game going final with Ball State winning 63-62??? I just got home and opened my phone to see how we squandered such a hard-to-lose ballgame. Hallalujah! And Mahalo Big Dog! Oh, this is so incredible.

    There was another JC QB, from Kansas I think who tweeted back in Sept - Oct that he was coming to Akron. He was only a part-time starter, pretty sure. Maybe when Johns came on-board, that guy ended up elsewhere. Anyone remember him?
