The days of oodles of unskilled labor jobs in Akron has gone and probably won't come back but they keep hoping. Maybe if the dollar gets down to 1/10 of what it is they will.As for the campus being complete when the stadium is finished, I'm not totally in agreement. The JAR needs a major rehaul or replacement to really compete. I don't know if the joint city/university project will happen downtown as Dr. P and "the Don" agreed or if it will sit on a shelf until one of them (the Don) is gone and they just build it on campus proper.
Three guesses:1) LBJ Court at Nike Arena 2) Nike/LBJ helps Akron upgrade the schedule with an Akron Tournament or something like the old Acme Zip Game in football..3) New Uni's and shoes....I vote for #1, but it's more likely #3.
Two different stories on Dambrot speaking at the HOF luncheon on last season's results and his outlook on the future.Canton Repository articleandAlliance Review article
I agree with those who think McNees will be moved back to the 2 spot and will have a better year there. The experiment to have him play the point really did not work well later in the season. I also think Conyers will be a more productive player on the offensive end because I think the tempo of play next year will be faster and that he can get some "O" off of the transition. He seems to have the quickness for it.
You may think he is an idiot now, but within a month something BIG is going to break which should change your mind (and this is a four-star Zipmeister/Wisconsin lock").I think I got it! Northwestern will leave the Big 10 and joing the MAC. Right?Big East drops USF and DePaul and adds Akron and Temple?
Zips are 5 point dogs. If they play D and hit their 3's they have a very good chance of coming out with a "W".Not to get ahead, but next up is Syracuse (defeated Maryland 88-72).
Fingerhut's recent commentsI see this as good for the city of Akron, Summa, and UA. I think removing the presidents from the NEOUCOM board and replacing them with independent trustees will be good also because I think independent trustees will see the benefits of being closer to the Akron hospitals and UA research. If the NEOUCOM Akron campus grows enough, I could see them possibly even move the main offices here leaving only the medical school in Rootstown.
NIT IMO. Most of the local schools of interest are there (us, CSU, OSU), people have heard of the NIT, plus I've heard it's $60k to host a CBI game. We'll get more media attention from it than the CBI (the other-other tournament).
