White has announced his decision to attend Miami.Frieson, who also takes carries out of the backfield, has established himself as a reliable weapon in Fleming Island's spread attack. He generated more than 1,700 all-purpose yards last season. The Zips run a similar scheme and plan to utilize Frieson in the same manner."I'll be in the same role at Akron and that played a big part in my decision," Frieson said. I think this season will see a faster offense than last year which could help Conyers. He seemed pretty quick two years ago, but may have had problems with a more half-court style game that seemed to be employed since we had so many injuries. Keep up the work in the classroom guys! I can't wait until fall!

A poster on topix.net claims UA will clear out the Plasma Alliance area for Jackson Field expansion and they will reroute Exchange. I find that (the rerouting, not the razing) hard to believe. Where could it happen? All the way to Thornton St.?

That's a tough one. Since the NBA doesn't allow direct entry from HS anymore and there doesn't seem to be a good minor league system like baseball it seems the only good route is through the NCAA. I'm all for giving them a chance to go to school since they can't play ball forever, but then again some just aren't cut out for the academics. I guess that just goes back to making sure they learn what they are supposed to in HS (and before) so they at least have a chance at it.

I think we would have to have Heisman in there somewhere.

Although I haven't seen a statement from UA, he's been removed from this year's roster on GoZips.com. He still shows up on last year's roster last I checked.

Nor to the best of my knowledge was he even recruited by us. The best thing for him probably would have been to stay at Niagara, away from the rough crowd back in his old neighborhood. Props to the local guys who keep their noses clean and get the job done in the classroom and in the game.

A lot of that may end up being blocked by the home stands and loges, but it should be a fantastic view of downtown from those loges and classrooms.

Good idea! We might have to crop/resize but I'm sure we can work out those issues when the time comes. It's too bad that Cam #3 seems to be out half of the time though I wish they would fix that issue and add the two other camera shots they mention when you first log into the site that there's going to be 5 camera views of the stadium site.Right now it feels like 2 and 1/2 since Cam 3 out so much. :angry:Maybe cam 4&5 will be mounted on the stadium to show the carpet, lights, landscaping, etc. go in? The "outdoor living room" is a gift to UA by a generous donor (I can't recall the name at the moment).

There was a mention in the article about a new student housing project for Sherman St., but I doubt that is it. I think it's probably more along the lines of an Akron NEOUCOM(P) branch campus that is focused on research. Could be on Market St. across from City Hosp. where the diner is that they just bought... or the old Mr Hero that was recently demo'ed. That would also put it by the new orthopaedic building... great location for research.
