  1. Note to Akron: don't use songs from Sony because they limit the playability on certain devices like the iPad? Another reason to short SNE
  2. Mattocks scores around 2:06 Interview
  3. With WVa, the MAC wouldn't need Florida Atlantic. which is costly for other teams in the MAC Temple does have a soccer team http://www.owlsports.com/index.aspx?path=msoc I agree to the point that Akron doesn't need WVa, but it helps other teams in the MAC.
  4. The MAC could definitely use WVa. in soccer. I think it should be the other way around, if Temple and UMass want to compete in the MAC, they should toss the conference a couple home-home soccer and basketball games per year.
  5. Top Drawer updated their rankings for the top 100 girl recruits. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/players-to-...2-Girls-Players 8 of the top 100 are from Ohio and Akron does not have a single recruit from the list. Here are the 8 from OH with their college choice: 22 Strongsville, OH - Virginia Tech 45 Cincinnati, OH - Kentucky 47 Rocky River, OH - Maryland 51. Dayton, OH - Florida 62 Mansfield, OH - Kentucky 67 Dublin, OH - Purdue 91 Brecksville, OH - Florida 96 Michela Paradiso - Ohio State

  7. the Bud Light Platinum is a joke and reminds me of Budweiser Ale. They're charging $6.99 for a 6 pack to go after the craft beer market. Is a craft beer drinker really going to sacrifice taste to save $2-3?
  8. do you save all your arguments in Word/Pages documents?
  9. Top Drawer believes Akron has the #1 class. I agree!! http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/players-to-...-Classes-Ranked

  12. article on top drawer about Caleb and the Olympics Porter sets course for London 2012 Olympics
  13. Luke Holmes seemed bummed about this on his twitter account. I feel bad for him because he has the skill to play in the MLS. I honestly think the only reason he wasn't picked up is because he'd take up an international spot. Those international spots can be traded, so they technically have a $$ value. Besides paying the 32,600 to Luke Holmes, they would lose the value of that international spot. Columbus' lack of Akron players is frustrating to me because I believe it would be good for soccer's growth in Ohio if the communities were connected. I've heard it mentioned before that Cleveland soccer fans don't like to come down to Akron for soccer. It seems like there's a rivalry between the communities of Ohio and it's not positive at all. The Crew's attendance was awful last year and it wont get better if they don't lean on other communities in Ohio for support.
  14. It's not Columbus's fault Luke Holmes didn't get picked up. It is frustrating though that Columbus doesn't have any Akron players (besides the one that will be recognized from UNC). I try to watch all of Columbus' games on matchday live, but will switch if a team is playing with Akron players on it. I always root for the Akron players to do well which makes it hard to root for Columbus when they're up against a team with Akron players on it. Columbus doesn't feel like a home team, which I wish wasn't true.
  15. Rules regarding international players: Domestic/International: In 2011, a total of 144 international slots are divided among the 18 clubs. Each club began with eight international slots, which are tradable. There is no limit on the number of international slots on each club’s roster. The remaining roster slots must belong to domestic players. For clubs based in the United States, a domestic player is either a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident (green card holder) or the holder of other special status (e.g., refugee or asylum status). The two MLS clubs based in Canada – Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC – began with eight international slots, but their domestic slots may be filled with either Canadian or U.S. domestic players. MLS clubs based in Canada are required to have a minimum of three Canadian domestic players on their rosters. Players with the legal right to work in Canada are considered Canadian domestic players (i.e., Canadian citizen, permanent resident, part of a protected class). http://www.mlssoccer.com/2011-mls-roster-rules
  16. Luke Holmes highlights http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/01/12/...-holmes-akron-f not sure when NASL or USL pick up players, but hopefully he'll land somewhere. <object width="620" height="349" id="cfd83e6oi" name="cfd83e6on" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"><param name="movie" value="http://p.mlssoccer.com/SAu5a/video/839681/839681_2012-01-12-093421.640hq.mp4"><param'>http://p.mlssoccer.com/SAu5a/video/839681/839681_2012-01-12-093421.640hq.mp4"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed width="620" height="349" src="http://p.mlssoccer.com/SAu5a/video/839681/839681_2012-01-12-093421.640hq.mp4" id="cfd83e6ei" name="cfd83e6en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" /></object>
  17. I'll try to show up after the Can't vs Akron bball game which ends at 9
  18. I've read that there might be an issue with him taking up an international spot on the roster. There are rules regarding the amount of international players a MLS team is allowed to have.
  19. I'm dissatisfied with the Columbus Crew organization right now. There are 14.5 (Ben Speas counts as 1/2) former Akron players in the MLS and the Columbus Crew only have Ben Speas who will be recognized as a UNC product. Luke Holmes is a better player than the following: 1 Kirk Urso (UNC) Position: MF 2 Jamie Finch (University of Washington) Position: D 3 Darren Amoo (Liberty University) Position: F 4 Andrew Bulls (Univ. Maryland Baltimore Co.) Position: F frustrated with Columbus because I want to like them, but considering their lack of Akron players, Montreal Impact will be my #1 team next year followed by DC United
  20. the beautiful thing about tailgating in lot 9 for soccer games is that it's free. Especially when I spend around $50 in tailgating supplies per game. I'd like to tailgate for at least one football game next year, but not sure which lot yet.
  21. One of the MLS writers has Luke Holmes going 26 to the Columbus Crew, imagine that!! http://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft/2012/n...2012-mock-draft If Columbus wants to start selling tickets in Northeast Ohio, they need to start bringing in Akron players.
  22. I will become a Crew fan if they take Luke Holmes at 26 or 29
  23. it's a done deal, he signed http://www.thecrew.com/news/2012/01/crew-s...omegrown-player
  24. Not sure if I'm correct about this, but I remember hearing: - homegrown players do not count against a rosters salary and are protected when expansion drafts take place. So as long as a team signs their homegrown player, he remains off the rosters salary for the duration of his career with that team. - Generation Adidas players do not count against a roster and are protected until that player graduates. We've seen some players graduate after a year. Generation Adidas players normally start at $100k+ Homegrown players start around $50k
  25. thanks for the mention. I think the Can't v Akron basketball game for the MAC Championship could have been added. That was an amazing game.
