we need an official watch party for this game and the MLS Cup. btw, attendance for SMU games: Game 1 459 Game 2 313 Game 3 1567 (not sure if the 1 is a typo) Game 4 501 Game 5 246 Game 6 523 Game 7 491 Total 4100 Average 586 shouldn't be too hostile as they'll most likely have a crowd in the 500's.

TAILGATE for Akron's last home game!!
bobbyake replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
thanks to everyone that showed up, the official count was 31 which is amazing for a soccer game, especially with poor weather conditions. This was a great tradition we started this year and I hope to continue it next year. Let's focus on grouping up for a watch party on Sunday for both the Zips game and the MLS Cup. -
An awesome win, feeling very confident about this team right now. Tailgate event had over 30 people show up. Here's the celebration video: notice the awesome flags made by Crew8

the 3rd came in the 2nd half? I wasn't watching yet. The 2nd came a little before the end of the 2nd half Fair enough - the NCAA website is just inaccurate Gametracker is only showing 2-0 so I suppose the 3-0 is an error -

2011 NCAA Prediction Contest

No more brackets now that games have started. Let's go Zips!!! -
Dillon Serna commits to Akron: Akron and New Mexico have yet to kick off their NCAA Tournament (the Zips start tonight against Northwestern) but both of them have already won big this week. U.S. National Team player Dillon Serna has announced that he'll be taking his talents to Akron next season while the Lobos got a recent commitment from 2013 standout Steve Manios. As for Serna, he'll be the latest in a long line of attacking talent to make their way to Akron. Ranked No. 11 in the 2012 class Top 100, he's a tricky left-footed winger who is very technical and brings great 1v1 ability. Serna also has invaluable international experience and will be ready to step into big matches for the program. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/players-to-...m-lure-standout

Vote for Nagbe and Bunbury for Goal of the Year
bobbyake replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
created a thread for it, figured it deserved a thread of its own. Grats to everyone that voted!!! -
Portland's Darlington Nagbe came into MLS with a bigger reputation as a creator than a goal-scorer. But the lasting image from the Liberian's rookie campaign turned out to be a juggling wonder-strike for the ages, good enough to claim the title of the 20111 AT&T Goal of the Year. Nagbe scored the golazo in the 45th minute of what was eventually a 2-1 home loss to Sporting KC in Week 16. The goal came after Nagbe, stationed at the top of the penalty area, controlled a punched clearance from KC 'keeper Jimmy Nielsen with two juggles, then laced a laser-beam to the upper 90 as he was closed down by the Sporting defense. Between Jack Jewsbury's corner kick, Nielsen's punch and — eventually — Nagbe's shot, the ball never touched the turf. In all, the goal garnered 42 percent of the vote via text-message and online ballot, comfortably out-distancing Vancouver forward Eric Hassli's Week 13 golazo from an impossible angle against Seattle (31 percent). Fredy Montero's fancy footwork in Week 28 against the 'Caps took third place (23 percent), while Davide Chiumiento's spinning volley in Week 26 against New York came in a distant fourth (4 percent). Nagbe is just the second rookie to win the AT&T Goal of the Year, following in the footsteps of Chicago's Damani Ralph. Ralph received the award in 2003 for a spinning touch and volley against the Columbus Crew. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011...arlington-nagbe This is awesome news for Akron!!!

Every MLS game I've watched with an Akron player in it, the announcer spends a few seconds talking about the Akron program. I've watched over 30 games where this has happend. Let's hope Zeke and Diggs make the NBA so that the same can happen for basketball.

I'd like to see both the Huskies and the Zips win on Thursday

TAILGATE for Akron's last home game!!
bobbyake replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
The last time I watched either channel 3, 5, or 8 news was when the Zips won the National Championship. I wanted to see if they caught me celebrating at the Barley House. Ratings for news stations aren't high for 18-30 year olds. I'm 27. Those news stations are for people that don't have internet. -

Another great video. We have a better marketing department than I was led to believe.. Good job. Ooooh, that video is indeed sweet. But, as far as "marketing" goes, who's going to see it unless they visit GoZips.com or search for it on youtube? Wonder if they're purchasing a few televised ads? We've got to place those videos in places where others, besides diehard Zips fans, will see them. I didn't find this video on youtube or gozips.com. It was on facebook and twitter. I found it through twitter which I retweeted to my 500+ followers.
