  1. This story from Ohio.com says the number was at 1,275 on Wednesday. I bought mine on Friday and there were 2 others in line to do the same. I think it's safe to say they hit the 1,300 mark since Wednesday. No idea how many reserved seats there are but on Wednesday, only 6 remain with 2 being chair-backs.
  2. Bowling Green had a crowd of 2,133 for the game, not bad!!! the story http://www.bgsufalcons.com/news/2011/8/26/...0826113637.aspx "The crowd of 2,133, as mentioned, was the largest for a BGSU home match since at least the 1996 season ... over the last decade-and-a-half, the Falcons' largest attendance was 650, for a match vs. Miami on Oct. 12, 1997."
  3. If a bunch of drunk people can do it in Portland, than it shouldn't be a problem.
  4. who's in charge of the Ak-Rowdies, they should really look into doing this song.
  5. I like to visit old restaurants and bars when I return to the area. I remember Yokono's is in the area..maytry that again for lunch on Monday after I stop at the WPM. Thanks Yocono's was sold a few years back and is nowhere near the same place it was when owned by the family. They were shutdown for a while earlier this year for failing to pay their taxes. Larry's Main Entrance would be my choice of a Walhaven eating place. any restaurant that doesn't accept credit/debit cards is asking for trouble.
  6. 1-11 iCantCoach was a huge mistake and we'll suffer for it over the next few years.
  7. nice way to start the season for Zips soccer!!!
  8. I've got this feeling that women's soccer at Akron is NCAA tournament caliber. Does the men winning the National Championship help recruiting for women's soccer? I think so.
  9. this topic got way off thread, but I want to clarify something about the level of talent in the MLS. Seattle could easily afford to go after Messi. Messi could be making Beckham money in the MLS.
  10. Seattle, Portland, LA, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Kansas City, and Philadelphia do well in attendance. San Jose packed Syracuse stadium when they played there. Montreal will be a great addition next year. MLS will be on NBC next year for several games. TV ratings are strong this year. Orlando is attendance is around 7,000 a game for a minor league soccer team. Look at the numbers and you'll see that the trend is very positive for MLS in the USA. BTW, it was nice to see New England bring a crowd for their last game. Getting a new soccer specific stadium closer to Boston will help them a lot. Where did you here about the NBC contract? Does that mean ESPN's dropping MLS? If so, I hope they will pick-up more LaLiga and UEFA games! http://stock.ly/5vbhyn
  11. both Chicago and Portland have their own version of the Tetris song, would be cool to see Akron do it as well. Chicago: Portland: Low lo-lo-low lo-lo-low lo-lo-low lo-lo-loow lo-low low low low low - Hey! Low-lo-LOW lo-lo-low lo-low lo-lo-low lo-lo-low low low low low - Hey! Port-land Tim-bers we a-dore you, Port-land Tim-bers for you weeee siiiiiing! (repeat) The Akron version??? Low lo-lo-low lo-lo-low lo-lo-low lo-lo-loow lo-low low low low low - Hey! Low-lo-LOW lo-lo-low lo-low lo-lo-low lo-lo-low low low low low - Hey! Ak-ron, Zi-ps blue and gold, Ak-ron Zi-ps fight to the end!

  13. "So typical of MLS". Boy, does that say a mouthful! I've always thought, MLS is to world football as the MAC is to the USA. MLS tries to use physical style to make up for the lack of consistent skills -- but it isn't that simple, other nations/leagues appear to be trying to emulate our style -- did anyone see the awful takle by a Real Madrid player in Sunday's match with Barca? Criminal -- worse than what Mullan did to Zakuani, and he'll probably get no suspension. Plain and simple...the MLS plays terrible futbol I like the physical style. Better that than watching a game where people go down if they're tapped and cry if there's no yellow.
  14. Beat me to it! 34th minute. Great to see Teal back in the starting lineup tonight. after this performance, hope to see him start more often.
  15. he just scored again against RSL
  16. It's going to be hard for Teal to get out of his funk while riding the bench. Sapong and Bravo are playing very well, you can definitely see more life in the attack when both of those players are in. Only way Teal plays is if he can play midfield or when those players need a rest.
  17. Teal Bunbury is a bench player for Sporting KC. He might as well try to play for Canada's NT, his USMNT days look bleak.
  18. here's the highlights of the game, you can find it around the 3:40's http://www.mlssoccer.com/videos?catid=1822&id=16499
  19. added youtube video to the thread, enjoy
  20. He just scored against KC, I'll post video later when it's available. BTW, Teal Bunbury is still riding the bench, i think this is 5 or 6 games he's been benched.
  21. and this is suppose to be newsworthy? Reminds me why I never get my news from Channel 5
  22. considering how much both companies spent for naming rings, they both got a bargain.
