  1. Would it go against Ianello's contract to demote him with the same pay to an assistant so that we can bring in a real head coach??
  2. count me in, I'll be there around 3:30!!!!!!!
  3. I applaud you for taking the time to ask Ianello about this, and think it's a great thing that some Zips fans still have faith in him. Whether we like him or not, he's the coach next year. As much as I don't like him and wish we could dump him in Can't, I'd rather see Akron win than Ianello lose. Most of us lost all faith in him this year while some had no faith from the start. I was one of those that had no faith in him before the season, and the first game of the year proved my assumption. My only hope is Ianello is like a sponge that can take in recommendations and learn from his mistakes. The last thing we need is a stubborn dictator that hasn't proven himself.
  4. they normally never check id' at the door until around 10:30 on Friday/Saturday when the place turns into a dance club.
  5. at least he gave us something from one side. Would love to hear Ian's side to this.

  7. I remember how disappointed I was when I found out Lolla was leaving, I was just starting to follow Zips soccer in my 3rd year of school, Louisvile's firing of Ken Lolla is a coup. I thought Lolla was the reason the Zips were so good. But now, I'm grateful he departed because Porter was discovered and the Porter era has been the best the Zips have seen in school history. Since he left, Akron and Louisville have yet to meet. I'm not sure if these teams avoid each other on purpose, but after the final Sunday, both of these teams should start scheduling each other more often in the future. This could create an old coach vs new coach rivalry. Considering Porter makes more $$$ at Akron than Lolla makes at Louisville, you have to wonder if he ever regrets leaving. Lolla's Record with the Zips: 160-68-25 .632 Lolla's Record with Louisville: 59-28-16 .522 Akron's Record since he left: 88-12-11 .792
  8. Barley House should have a few local brews on tap. I went Saturday before the soccer game for a bit as they were the only place that had X-mas Ale on tap, so they should at least still have that and probably GL Dortmunder. Barley House used to have Roo Brew on tap earlier this summer. I haven't been there since so I really don't know if they still offer it. As far as Thirsty Dog's "12 Dogs of Christmas" goes, I have no idea. I haven't even been able to find it in stores. I saw some stocked at the grocery store almost 2 months ago and now I regret not grabbing it, haha. (I'm a craft beer kind of person too). If I end up heading to a bar to watch, it will probably be Tap House. I'm skeptical about Barleys as a good place to watch Zips games. The Winking Lizard in Fairlawn has 12 Dogs. Always try ACME when looking for Thirsty Dog, they do a better job than Giant Eagle at getting it.

Not a fan of Great Lakes or their Christmas Ale. Roo Brew is the same as the Labrador Lager, which is amazing!!
  10. Very tempting but I'm a craft beer drinker. Is Thirsty Dog Christmas Ale on tap????
  11. I say we give them iCan'tCoach if they'll take him. A lot of teams are competing for coaches this year. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5888840
  12. I've mentioned this before and nothing happened. I attached a screen capture of the area I think you're talking about.
  13. fixed and thanks. I like the sound of that. You should put that on AkronSportsNow. How long before a certain someone comes on here and starts talking about 'Penis Envy' because of the song having Ohio State in it? Let's hope not. Interesting to note that not a single California team made it into the final four while the Mid-West has 2.
  14. Was awesome to see the Zips win today. Also excited that we get to play Michigan again. We seem to have their number. With Louisville's come from behind win, there's a good chance that we could see Lolla in the Championship game. What a story that would be. Something only Disney could make. Btw, although I hate the Buckeyes and tell people that Akron isn't a suburb of Columbus, I am borrowing a song from them: O, we don't give a damn for Ohio State or Michigan Ohio State or Michigan, Ohio State or Michigan We don't give a damn for Ohio State or Michigan, we're from Akron We're from Akron...Z-I We're from Akron...P-S
  15. I don't know what $ amount you think UA should throw at the HC position, but throwing money doesn't ensure a winning coach and causes you to have to make adjustments in other UA coaches' salaries or suffer degradation in those other sports. And, as far as "Bring in a winning coach with a proven track record for building winning programs", any coach who is truly winning with a proven track record at the FBS level, would be filling one of the vacancies in one of the more established FBS programs. If you're talking about bringing in "a winning coach with a proven track record for building winning programs" from an FCS or lower division, there's no guarantee that winning at those levels translates to winning in FBS. Although, I personally would have preferred a head coach from an FCS or DII winning program. There was also a cost to staying in the Rubber Bowl. In order to sell tickets, UA had to ensure that is was reasonably safe for patrons and for the team. I don't believe upkeep ( ) was free. Since the dead horse has arisen...If you were responsible for hiring someone to fill a position where you work, what would be the one objective factor that you might consider over everything else in choosing that new employee? I have done it before. I tended to look at successful experience in the same or very closely related position as to the one needing filled. No its not a guarantee of success but it beats on the job training and is very defensible. It would be very difficult to believe that there was not one successful head coach from a lower level who was not interested in the Akron job. That would assume however that the AD actually looked. The interview process started and ended with iCantcoach.
  16. Yikes, I wanted Akron to have a chance to play Louisville in the Championship. Lolla vs. Porter
  17. that was the 5th, First round: 0-0 Second Round: 1-1 Third round: 1-2 Fourth round: 1-2 Fifth round: 2-3
  18. ??? AR? I noticed a delay, what was that all about?
  19. And our frozen buttocks. Are we having any luck with the video stream on ZipsZone? it doesn't have sound and 1350 am has a lessor priority game on. http://www.gozips.com/newMediaPlayer/conso...0&id=409352 IE won't play it for me but Chrome will...go figure. 2-1 at halftime...go Zips ! Ha, why would you even use IE if you have Chrome?

  21. why isn't this game on the radio? UA soccer should be a higher priority
  22. Attendance was so low, I wonder what the Football team makes compared to the soccer team. I understand that football brings in more on ticket sales, but it costs a lot more money to run the Info than it does for a soccer game at Lee Jackson. Do they release this data? and where could I go to find it?
  23. they should use that extra $8million to hire a real head coach for the football team and make iCan'tcoach an assistant
