  1. It shouldn't be this way. I know the status quo is to give someone time but we don't have the time to give him.
  2. You're right, they fire coaches that have been there for over a decade and won multiple conference championships and a national championship when shit like this happens. It's a lot easier to fire the slapdick who has been here f-ing things up for a couple months in my opinion. It might be easier, but the reality is Akron has a much tighter budget than those national championship schools. speaking of tight budget, the budget will only get tighter if he takes this team 0-12. It will be too expensive to keep him if this is the path we're on.
  3. That's simply not true. Brookhart left the team with as much talent as we've had in the past decade. We're not in horrible shape, at least we weren't until the Rob Ianello tornado of incompetance came spinning its way into town. This team has the talent to play for a conference championship, but with this career loser position coach running things, we'll be lucky to win a conference game. Remember I am not an Akron fan.. I am an outsider looking in. You may not think your program is not in horrible shape, but it is. You have the best facilities in the MAC, yet you are the worst program in the MAC, at least one can argue that. Your previous coaching staff had a chance to recruit SOLID players to Akron when they were building that stadium, but they failed miserably at it. Let Ianello get some recruits here, and if he fails, then his time is up. Can you help me understand why you post here so much if you're not an Akron fan? Does Youngstown State not have a fan forum?
  4. even if Akron goes 0-12, we would still sell out a stadium that size every game.
  5. what is the capacity for that stadium? 3-4k?
  6. doesn't even compare to the Info.
  7. The status quo is to give him more time. Let's give him more time to send this program in the wrong direction.
  8. I've been one of those that have been against scheduling games against opponents like PSU for the big pay day but with the coach we have, I'm starting to think it's a good idea. I'd rather see us get a nice pay day and destroyed by Penn State than to have what we had today.
  9. with his first 2 games in the books, I think he's proven that he's not going to be the next Chris Petersen. Isn't that what we all want??? Maybe that's what the poll should be. Do we want Akron to be the next Boise?
  10. What do you guys think? Do you see better days with this coach? Is he a good investment? or is he a mistake that needs fixed?
  11. good find but the video takes forever to load. Trying to find it on youtube.
  12. I think the conclusion we can agree on here is that this team is reloaded and ready to go!!
  13. They can laugh all they want. Anything less than $18 is selling at a loss, and won't be made up through concessions or merchandise. They're killing themselves financially (even more than usual) in an attempt to keep within the NCAA attendance rules. huh? By your logic, selling at $54 will be 3x less of a loss! It really doesn't make sense if demand isn't there to sell at $54, and the same is true for $18. Example of reducing price to make more money below. It's called optimizing volume versus price. 4000 tickets at $18 yields $72,000 6500 tickets at $12 yields $78,000 By lowering prices significantly, you drew more fans and offset price with volume. Not only could you make more money, but you create a real event experience which increases future demand. You assume a demand for tickets. What if there are no more people who wanted to go to the game Saturday than those who showed up? Exactly. No more fans would have shown up even if we lowered the price to $5 a ticket. And Can't's pricing structure simply lowers the value of their product. If people pay $5 to see them, they see that it's worth less than a high school game, and so must not be as important as one or as exciting, or worth the trip. I fully disagree...I know six people personally who planned to attend then changed their mind when they saw the price...SIX! If I know that many alone, imagine how many total. Then they really did not want to go and were looking for an excuse for not going. Akron can't build its future on this fan. Yes. If $20/person is too much to see a local team and a BCS team play in the nicest stadium in the state, they didn't really want to be there. I bet they would gladly pay per person at OSU what it would cost the entire group at Akron to watch a game. The only time I would ever go to an OSU game to watch football is if they were playing the Zips. I would rather go see Akron play than OSU any day.
  14. let the ugliness begin. I think I might stay away from the football boards for the entire season. It's only going to get uglier in here.
  15. I think most of us agree with you. It's knowing that there's a high probability we'll have 2 more bad years that has me upset. It seems there's a lot of us that believe hiring Coach I was a bad choice. We have to suffer the consequence of that bad choice for 2 more years. It's the 'I knew it' factor coming into play now. We're all voicing our 'I told you so' opinions. If Coach I doesn't prove us wrong, things are probably going to get very ugly here. My way of coping with this is by rooting for our soccer team as much as I can.
  16. I've been to some football games at the Rubber Bowl where there was no more than 3,000 people and they would announce over 9,000. I think they're allowed to tweak the numbers somehow. Maybe he's right about it never happening on the record. But if we go by actual butts in seats, I think soccer will do better more than a couple times this year.
  17. It's 2010....Go to ticketmaster before you leave your house, buy tickets so and then you won't have to stand in line. There is no line on the internet. You completely missed the point. This is not the way a professional organization should operate. How about a little customer service. Besides, not that it should make a difference, but my son didn't decide to go until that day. Ticketmaster runs 24/7. You could have spent five minutes on it before leaving for the game. It's 2010.....those who had to stand in line have nobody to blame but themselves. Please don't listen to this advice. This is 2010 where people don't like to get ripped off. Ticketmaster charges a $5 processing fee per ticket. You did the right thing and saved $10 by not buying tickets from them. If you know in advance how many tickets you need, you can always buy them in the JAR for gameday prices. It seems like this wasn't the case for you. You have every right to complain about the University not doing something efficiently. When I was walking into the game, I noticed the long lines. It's a good thing this probably wont be a problem again as no one will show up for the games. This is going to be an ugly year to follow Zips football and you're going to see a lot of arguing on this forums. I don't see why there's a need to blame a person for not using Ticketmaster.
  18. how long before the soccer games have higher attendance than the football games????
