0 NCAA Tournament wins with Zeke. John Groce had 3 with only 2 guys over 6'6" (none over 6'9"). How many Cinderellas are led by 7 footers? It's always a guard or two, and a front court with more desire than their opponents to get rebounds, with the athleticism to make a difference on offense as well.
-
So basically publicly what the P5s have been giving recruits for at least a couple of decades.
-
So did Groce's Sweet Sixteen team at OU. College basketball is all about guards and athleticism.

Don't forget: we still have one scholarship left.

11.4 ppg last year on 37.5% shooting from the field and 35% from 3. 75% free throw shooter, with 3.7 Rebounds, 2.3 Assists, 1.8 Steals, and 1.8 Turnovers per game. 177 3PT attempts, 315 FG attempts, and 60 FT attempts. 13.9 ppg the previous season (exactly what Ali Ali averaged). What we lost in Ali Ali... 13.9 ppg on 46% shooting, 40.7% 3PT, 72.2% FT, 2.9 Rebounds, 2.3 Assists, .9 Steals, and 1.5 Turnovers per game. 118 3PT attempts, 359 FGA attempts, 133 FT attempts. Aside from the height (which may have been solved with Slammin' Sammy), Hankerson might actually be a better fit for this team. This also gives us another experienced Guard to help coach up 4 freshman.

Jay Wright of Villanova is retiring, with Fordham's Kyle Neptune replacing him. Should be a few guys entering the Portal from both squads. Something to keep an eye on.

Damn JD! Look at those 💩 kickers!

Jon Rothstein should have said, "Can you at least give me a Top 10? Twitter had character limits ya know..."

Class of '23 Offers & Verbal Commits

Designed by the the 3rd grader learning Clip Art who created the flying baseball G for the Guardians. I like the TE room going forward. We have MASSIVE targets on the inside for the QBs to hit on seem routes and whatnot. Hopefully they have hands and can block too. -
Limited action at 'Ville (broke his wrist early in the season?), and his highlight film isn't impressive. The minute or so I watched was all him dunking with two hands over guys smaller than him, then getting in their face and flexing on them. He looks slow and a little unathletic. He could still be growing into his body but Freeman will dance circles around him if he's still as slow as his highlight film showed. Then again, he may have been coached up a bit at Louisville. Who knows. Kostelac and Bardo came to mind when watching the film.

Those are funny ways of spelling AKRON.

More than 1/4 of the players in college basketball. Good odds that most suck. The 49th best player averaged under 14 ppg on a team that lost 2 of its original starters. He also no-showed in 2 of the biggest games of the year, if that tells you anything.
-
WOOOOOWWWW.
-
Exactly. He moves well for his size but not much production, hence why I don't think Groce would go after him at this point. We need more production from a guy with his type of experience.

Interesting. I wonder if it's a recruit or a transfer.

I wonder if we'll have the tallest OL room in college football. Room full of sequoias. Sheesh. -
What are you good for...
-
Anderson Mirambeaux entered the portal for Cleveland State. We were in his original final 3 I believe. I doubt Groce goes after him now.

8 more years! 8 more years!

I want a replacement for Ali Ali, and I think we'll find one, but I'm not sure we need one. We are going from a guard-light team, that allowed Ali Ali to take 477 shots last year, to a guard-heavy team that has 4 new guards (good size, too) to consume 477 shots. Those 477 shots were second on the team (X took more) and only led to less than 14 ppg. Can those 4 guards slot in and average more than 14 ppg in total with 477 shots? A modest 6 ppg per player (around Tribble/Dawson production) would equal 10 more ppg. That would be 78 ppg (subtracting Aziz's ppg), with zero increase in production from the returning guys. Moneyball.

I thought I saw Freeman on an ad.

The main thing that matters is looking at how Ali's decision impacts the Akron basketball program. I truly believe it'll be a net positive based on fit, and I wish Ali success at Butler.

Northern Illinois ➡️ Balls ➡️ Toledo Only took him several years, but he finally went from worst to first in the MAC West. Oh wait, there aren't divisions anymore in basketball... Side note: the MAC should hire him post-graduation. This kid clearly loves the conference.
