Fantastic job by Akron on being the ones to host this. There is so much money flowing in the eSports world, and it would be very beneficial to become one of the hotspots.

FIU with two nice wins following their loss to us - St. John's and UNC. Upcoming schedule... Indiana - #23 OSUcks - UR (hahahahahaha) Pitt - #7 Penn State - #24 Nice opportunities to climb into the top 5 here... -
Michigan State - Labor Day at home

I know he was left on an island, but I wouldn't be thrilled as defenders if my goalie got that PO'd at us after not making an effort himself to block the shot. -

Winner winner, we-own-the-Big-Ten dinner! Impressive start to the season by Embick's squad. -
Game 1: SFU @ Akron ZIPS - Score Prediction (POLL)
Let'sGoZips94 replied to AKSportsFan's topic in Akron Zips Football
Well they played HARD for him. Didn't look like a group that hated their coach. -
If that comes to fruition, then that means there are quite a few P5s left on the outside looking in. If that's where this all ends up - lesser P5s joining G5s - I'm not mad about that. I think the 30-40 teams will ultimately hurt their product by being so exclusive. But until then, there is nothing wrong with the expansion and additional access to the Playoff for everyone.
-
I want to make sure I understand your perspective. You're saying the P5 breaks away from the G5, so why allow access to the Playoff if they won't be part of it in the near future anyways?

Game 1: SFU @ Akron ZIPS - Score Prediction (POLL)
Let'sGoZips94 replied to AKSportsFan's topic in Akron Zips Football
These next 2 games are tune ups for Liberty. Liberty is a HUGE opportunity to make a statement as a program against a legitimate G5 school. We are much more talented than we were last year, and I'm hoping JoeMo & Co. can get the system more in place by that game. Stay healthy, and let's see what happens. -
Can you please explain your thought process as to how more access to the biggest trophy in college athletics wouldn't benefit every FBS program?

Game 1: SFU @ Akron ZIPS - Score Prediction (POLL)

Iowa beat South Dakota State 7-3. 2 safeties and a FG for Iowa. Nebraska struggled with North Dakota. Akron winning that game Thursday was big. SFU came with everything. They were fast, well coached, and talented. At the end of the day, the W is what matters and we got that. -
Bowl season has become stagnant. The bowl games are absolutely meaningless, hence why so many starters are opting out. I don't watch most of them anymore. Thousands of fans traveling for a meaningless bowl game vs tens of thousands for multiple playoff games is a big difference. This is a good thing. If you don't want to watch it - don't. I will be watching these.

A win is a win is a win. A lot to like. A lot to not like. In JoeMo I trust. Also, hats off to St. Francis. Heck of a squad and effort. Thank you Mohican for 2 bars of service standing by my truck outside of the cabin so I could watch that.
-
And I will be in cell-service-less Mohican until Saturday afternoon. Bummed. Go Zips! For those going, welcome Joe Mo back to Akron loudly. Can't wait to watch highlights and read the board's takes. Akron GameDay with excitement. Been a long time.

The purpose of the tarps is the companies on the tarps pay money to be on the tarps.

We need a thread dedicated to all of PCCC's failures.

VCU - Home Opener - August 29
Let'sGoZips94 replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
This team has it all. Malik is insanely quick and an absolute game-changer. Chong is the ball-control/facilitating MF we've needed since Nagbe's departure. Sangwa is everywhere on defense. Clapier is a great wing compliment to Malik. This team could be special. -
Responding to the bold in order... 1) I'm high on Irons. He was in a no-win situation last year, and the injury was team-induced. He also looks like he put in work physically in the off-season. 2) LOVE hearing that Wiley is showing well. He's a BIG boy and it would be nice to have his size produce with so many change-of-pace/scat-backs behind him. 3) Not surprised considering the programs they came from, but top 1/3 of the MAC is a high accolade considering the WRs the MAC (largely WMU) has sent to the NFL recently. 4) How good are the TEs behind him? 5) Correct me if I'm wrong, but secondary can take a minute to gel, no? Is the talent there, but the chemistry is missing? Or are we undertalented?

This for a draw. Soccer is a weird sport. Haha.

Season opener at Florida International
Let'sGoZips94 replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Wow. What a win! Should we be concerned with our defense? Is our offense for real? Time will tell, but that's one helluv an opener. We are Akron. We are Akron. We are soccer kings! -
Exhibit A
-
OSUcks swindled the NIT to give them a home game vs Akron - who was actually the higher rated team - only to draw less (4698 - less than 25% capacity) than what would have attended a Suckeyes game at the JAR. No way is OSUcks playing a game at Akron unless Hell freezes over. Xavier and UD are possibilities.
