I never read any press releases from previous classes, but this is a classic example of why Arth has a good rapport with high school coaches. Every single bio states the name of the high school & coach the respective player played for.

Hats off to the media team for putting together these awesome recruiting graphics. Talk about catching up to speed with trends. Every player I believe had their own graphic to share. Very, very cool. Between that and the photo shoot these guys had during the snowstorm, I'm sure that helped a lot with the appeal of Akron, as odd as that is to say.

I am thoroughly impressed with what Arth has salvaged from this recruiting class.

The positives... - We saw real adjustments made at halftime that worked. The negatives... - Just about everything else. This team is about 2 players short (a killer shooter and an offensive big man) of being a legitimate top-of-the-MAC team. Until those players appear, we'll need to rely on pure effort to keep us in/win games.

The amount of preferred walk-ons is interesting. I wonder if part of Arth's plan is to use his connections in NEO to bring in kids who are driven, hungry, etc., in order to push the scholarship players to be better, disciplined, etc. Not sure if I'm reading WAY too much into them, but I'm not sure I have ever seen this many PWOs announced.

I think Akron has shown the ability in recent games to adjust when their shots aren't falling, and their backup plan is driving to the basket. Cheese, Jackson, and Ivey have been HUGE in that sense. They're gonna need to keep it up tonight.

We are finally going to have a running game. Heck of a get. I'm not worried about the OLine. The Browns had a trash OLine until the system changed from Haley/Hue to Kitchens. I think the same thing will happen here with the coaching & system change.

Great program. My co-worker, whose cubical is adjacent from mine, is the mother of their new QB, Trey. I get a lot of the inside scoop on their program, and that Head Coach is a good one. The foundation he has laid with the proper principles to not only build a strong football program, but build terrific individual young men, is nothing short of impressive. 2 straight undefeated seasons and that's not a fluke. Interesting note about Baughman. He was a Virginia commit for wrestling, but chose Elon for football due to the full ride (I'm assuming) they offered compared to partial for a non-mainstream sport (wrestling). Similar situation with Jack Snowball from a few years back, where he wasn't heavily recruited by DI for whatever reason, although Snowball had injury issues that followed him to MIami (OH) where he walked-on. Mason is a walk-on I believe.

I've been over there all game. I think I might be the only one that was on there for the game. They're ready to move on from Saul. I don't know if it's right to say the program is on life support, but there is not a lot of excitement at all surrounding it.

Disappointed in the finish, but man, that was a SWEET 37 minutes. Well done Groce and company in getting these guys ready to play, especially with the week off. Hats off to the boys for playing their rear ends off. Go Zips!
