  1. Maybe, but your gripe has seemed to be with height, not abilities/accountability.
  2. Are you a closet EMU fan...?
  3. I'm not sure if this is how they determined that, but in his twitter post, there's a #1 in the graphic by Gamecocks.
  4. If we do go the grad transfer route with the last scholarship - if we don't land Neftali or Moss - I would like to see it be a forward or a big man only because they can step right in for a year, easier than a guard can.
  5. I did very minimal research earlier, and saw that VCU had a couple thousand enrollment spike around the time of their run(s). There's a difference in athletics boosting enrollment, and that enrollment actually attending games (student attendance, or lack thereof, at athletic events in recent years has become a hot topic). Athletics have become vital to the existence of college academics due to the fiscal overlap. Better academic programs stem from better athletics (in many cases), and with better athletics comes more exposure, thus more enrollment for the better academics.
  6. I think that dribble is intentional. If you picture a defender to the left of where he dribbles, his dribble would be the first move to go around for the dunk. They teach guards to somewhat throw the ball out in front of you when you want to get around someone, so I would assume this would be the big man equivalent.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if he commits to Frank Martin's program. I've heard players love to play for him, and they're entering their 2nd year removed from a Final Four appearance.
  8. Oh no... Queue a new thread in the Off Topic section, titled "ZipsVoice and LZip's Athletics' Affects on Enrollment".
  9. I went back and watched both of his JC videos on YouTube. It's interesting how similar he is to Duvivier in regards to getting to the basket and decision making. The difference seems to be physicality vs. finesse. Duvivier was a bruiser - a pad-less linebacker bulldozing his way through the lane. He didn't have the best body control, and some of his charges were just dumb, but he got to the basket or pulled up for a mid-range jumper/floater. Channel seems to play with more control, which I think will really bode well for Akron as a Duvivier replacement.
  10. Typically yes. I don't know about Akron's QBs/WRs, but I do know that Tom Brady brings his WRs (Amendola, Edelman , etc.) up to his property in Montana to workout and build chemistry together. Obviously a group of college players would get together at a lesser extent, but the same principles stand around the college level.
  11. Do we have any offers out to any non-guards for this year?
  12. Love hearing that Ramart looks capable of stepping in right away if needed or if he wins the job.
  13. Shhhh... Don't tell that to Villanova. I guess they don't have any bigs. How on earth did they win a National Title? Getting slightly back on topic, getting either of the remaining two guards we have offers out to (Moss & Alvarez) would be massive. We would instantly become a title contender again, in my opinion, with the back-court assembled this off-season.
  14. False. We never went to the NCAA Tourney with Big Dog, struggling in the MAC Tourney for a couple years because of a lack of a backcourt. Zeke was a bit of a different player, because he was a highly touted recruit with a massive wingspan that really changed the game defensively. However we lost Abreu, and got stomped by 40+ in the tourney, despite Zeke and Tree. While I do like a good big, NCAA games are won with killer guards and athletic forwards. This year showed it sucks to be young and lack depth. Period. Taking away anything more than that on the negative side is a bit of a reach, and shows pessimism. We have KLac, EMan, Sayles, and Riak in the front court. That's plenty to win in the MAC and beyond. The difference comes from the backcourt, which we need to solidify due to a lack of depth to begin with, plus the losses of Cotton and Duvivier.
  15. http://njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2016-17/div1/players/channelbankshlzd More of an aggressive guard, who likes to get to the basket. I love these 6'3"/6'4" guards by the way. Tourney runs are built on a foundation of these types of guards.
  16. http://njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2017-18/div1/players/jeremyroscoed3if Love his numbers.
  17. Lefty SG with a beautiful stroke. DJ Cooper + several inches. I love it. Looks like he's added on some muscle since his HS days, too.
  18. Plus EMan and Sayles to an extent, and add the 3 scholarship players we are probably getting - whomever they are - to the roster.
  19. According to Bobcat Attack, Toledo and EMU have some players leaving, including EMU's Jordan Nobles.
  20. This. The core of this team is pretty strong, and now we're able to build upon it with 3(?) open scholarships, plus the transfers from last year. To quote Jose Bautista, the MAC should be shaking in their boots.
  21. No, logic & facts do not equal condescension. Tone, demeanor - that can equal condescension. Trust me, you didn't hurt my feelings. What further clarification did you need if you knew that the government is to pass no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion? Or did you just want to argue, and attempt to assert your supposed intellectual superiority? Because that's how it comes off.
  22. I read your condescending response in its entirety, thank you very much, but am only going to respond to this partially-emboldened sentence... All of this discussion, the rants, etc., on the topic, yet you knew the answer to your own question from the beginning?
  23. Very, very good post regarding the topic. A "like" was not enough.
  24. Not surprised. He always looked uncomfortable. Good luck to him! I'm very happy to have another scholarship available for Groce to use.
