  1. Count me in on disliking Ball State a lot, especially for letting Can't back into the semis. Now, who to root for tonight... The scary masked people or the sweaters...?
  2. Here's to hoping PCCC goes home early today. I hope tempers flare and KSUcks gets a bit "testy" against Balls (see what I did there?).
  3. I think this will massively backfire if their goal is more ad revenue. People are going to find out who is in, and find out the brackets when they print them off later in the evening.
  4. Buffalo is somewhat letting CMU hang around, which is not what they want. Buffalo wants to win this game by 30 so they can rest their guys.
  5. Buffalo is the first game, with Can't/Balls to follow. The top seed's side always goes first, with the opposite side in the evenings. Currently, Buffalo is up 37-24 with 4 minutes to go in the first half.
  6. I agree with this, hence my comment about the MAC being a top 10-12 conference RPI/ratings wise. I strongly dislike the MAC, but they are most definitely superior - consistently - to about 15+ conferences. I also struggle to put much merit on what has become a money game for the NCAA by design. I never liked the play-in game when it was, what, 2 16-seed games? Now I really hate it with higher seeds in there. It's all about squeezing every last dollar out of these schools.
  7. As much as a Participation Trophy. With that being said, if you told me we'd win a 1st round game in Dayton this year, I'd be incredibly happy, but that has to do more with how this season has gone/expectations.
  8. It was a bit of a jab, but I was also being serious. Again, not to get way ahead of ourselves, but I do think if we were to win the MAC, we would be higher than a 16 seed. There are multiple factors considered beyond record. According to realtimerpi.com the MAC is the 10th ranked conference (even ahead of the A10). The variances in other conference ranking formulas/systems might drop us down a spot or two, who knows, but the fact is the MAC is in the top third of conferences in the country. That would carry quite a bit of weight, with the perceived "prestige" of Akron's recent success being a bonus. The only way Akron would end up in Dayton would be if the NCAA views it as an opportunity to make money with Akron being relatively close, but those Dayton games always show well attendance wise so I don't think that would be a reason to under-seed the 10th-ranked conference's champion.
  9. Don't let it happen again (although before these past couple of seasons, we did traditionally struggle mightily against the zone).
  10. Agreed. How can anyone say our program warrants a 16 seed when we've been on a list for the past decade with Duke, Kansas, and Ohio State? I thought we had some prestige with that type of company. In all seriousness, one game at a time, but I think anybody that faces us is going to be in one helluva dog fight. I have a feeling Groce is going to release the hounds like he did against WMU. Hard-nose defense, constant-motion offense, and an overall high-energy performance. I will be quite disappointed if we don't leave it all on the court.
  11. Gameday. Beat Eastern Mitten University. (Not a typo)
  12. These are attendance number predictions for the respective schools, not game lines.
  13. I think they have shut Sayles down for the year, and I'm ok with that. I need him 100% recovered for next year, when we can really make some noise start-to-finish. I also watched it, via YouTube this morning (dual monitor setup at work ROCKS). I thought it was a great show as well. I did not realize that EMan was a honor's student, and had not heard him speak before. Really glad to have him at the University of Akron and in a Zips uniform. Sounds like he's making quite the recovery. Since game 1, I have been impressed with Parrish's instincts both offensively and defensively. He has always gone strong after the rebounds, and I don't know if we've had a player jump the passing lanes like he has in quite some time. The difference between now and the beginning of the season is his instincts have matured into skills. He is more intelligent and better positioned when he goes for steals/rebounds now. He has also caught up to the speed of DI basketball, and does a good job of keeping his man in front of him and helping out on D. I think he is going to be an All MAC player for his final 3 years here. Groce is a great interview. He gives terrific, detailed insight and calls it how he sees it.
  14. Greatest fan-friendly promo ever. You either win money, or you save quite a bit of money. There is no losing.
  15. It prevents a 50% free throw shooter from faking an injury so his team can choose an 80%+ free throw shooter.
  16. Do the rules allow us to lump in the few OU stragglers that pre-maturely bought tickets or just enjoy the MAC tourney? Similar green, and you know they'll be rooting for EMU. If so, I'm going to add 22 to Skip's 45, for a total of 67.
  17. When should we start seeing commitments? It's been a while since I've followed the recruiting this closely.
  18. I saw on here that WMU is on spring break?
  19. Chalk held, except for Akron. Time to be the bull in a china shop, and bust this tournament open.
  20. Akron and Duquesne both play on Thursday. Duquesne plays at 6pm, and Akron plays around 9pm. Which game will some of this thread's participants attend...? Do they make the drive to support KD or do they head to Cleveland to support Akron? Quite the dilemma... Sorry, I had to have some fun with this one. Go Zips.
  21. For those of us that didn't give up and watched the game live, we thank you for this recap. FIFY I didn't think that deep, but I was afraid he got hurt. More importantly, the whistle wasn't very obvious right away, so it took me a quick second to realize they actually called the foul. Calling obvious fouls is their job. It's the ticky-tack, inconsistent crap throughout a game that people take issue with. It cannot be stated enough how great of a job Groce has done coaching this year. It helps make the future look really, really bright. Also, the MAC is taking notice, evident by Can't State's and OU's message boards.
  22. I thought about making it a more sarcastic post, with a bold prediction being the team that has the most points at the end of the game will win. I figured I'd spare y'all the sarcasm, put some real keys in there, and leave the common sense to you or Clark (you beat him to it).
