I watched the Maryland vs. UNC game on ESPNU. I was not impressed with either team. Maryland had two crap goals; one was a sloppy clean up in front of the goal and the other was a deflection off a North Carolina player. The UNC goal was late (4 minutes left in the game), but I don't remember how they scored. The style of play of both teams is very sloppy, dump-and-run soccer. Their passes were not crisp. The build up consisted of multiple one-touch passes, but they weren't crisp, nor did they stay on the ground. Most of the time, the ball would leave the ground and the receiving player would have a tough time controlling it, especially enough to get another one-touch pass off.

He's going to school in Hawaii?! That's not a bad gig AT ALL.

I wonder what the ESPN analysts think about Forsythe being eligible for this year? It's going to be a VERY interesting season. I'm going to keep all hands and feet inside the ride at all times, that's for sure. Go Zips!

Those signs are all over the area in general, not just on buses. I have seen them on multiple billboards. It's such a different feeling.

Wins: Morgan State, UCF, Miami, CMU, Can't, UMass. Losses: FIU, Tennessee, BG, O-Who, NIU, Toledo. Overall Record: 6-6.

Interesting that they will be covering the OAC, which is a DIII conference. I have my college choices narrowed down to Otterbein and Mount Union, so I will be pretty interested in that. Great to see STO picking up Bowden for one of their shows. We all know what last year would have been like if iCan'tCoach would have had his own show. "So iCoach, how to you plan on improving this Zips team?" iCoach: "Recruit. Recruit. Recruit. I was a recruiter at Notre Dame, and know nothing about football. The Notre Dame name sold itself, but I might still be a decent recruiter for Akron."

I was going to start a thread about this. I think it is a very interesting topic and route to go. If I am Bowden, I am calling them and marketing Akron. Here are my selling points: 1) State-of-the-art facilities. 2) You will play. Have you seen our previous records? 3) Help us build something special. 4) If you went to PSU for the tradition, come to Akron and play for Bowden, Amato, and Buckley. Not to mention we have Tressel at the University. I really think this would be a great way to jump start this program.

Ranking the early season college basketball tournaments. Akron is in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, which is ranked as a 'B'. Some very solid teams in the tournament. I like it a lot.

I am guessing O-Who will be top 50 and the Zips will be top 70. No other MAC school will be above either team. Can't State might be top 80 or 90, but that's the next closest. I think by the end of the season, though, the Zips will be the best MAC team, finishing probably around the 40 or 50 mark. I'm expecting a big season.

Watching that Kenmore tape and that Can't Roosevelt tape is painful. Some of the highlights are against Norton, my high school. Norton also has a WR, Matt McGlone. I believe he is around 6'5. Long body with a decent build. He is getting recruited by Duke, Michigan State, Harvard, etc. However, that is more for his grades. 4.2 or something like that GPA. He was the no. 1 WR in DIII, though. I also know one of the Can't State coaches came to our school to talk to him this past year. Coventry has a running back, Dillon Headrick, who is getting some big looks, too. Michigan, Texas, etc. He is around 6' I believe, he benches 285-295, squats around 500; very powerful back. He put up around 5 touchdowns on Norton if I remember correctly. Very good speed with a massive frame. Great kid, too. Good friends with him. Akron should look at offering these guys.

He was a 4 star recruit in high school. 6'8" 225 lbs. Not bad. Should be interesting to see what he can do on the court if he keeps his nose clean.

Private schools can recruit.

I like the expansion, not that it will really help my high school anytime soon (1-9 record despite having the no. 1 DIII QB and no. 1 and 3 WRs). However, if the OHSAA really wanted to help high school sports, they would make a separate division for private schools. This isn't football related, but my high school was one of the better DII teams for basketball this year. We have 2 6'7+ guys, a 6'4 guy (the no. 1 WR), and a 6'+ guy in our starting lineup. I think we only lost 1 or 2 games all year. Norton ended up having to play St. V in the sectional finals or semi-finals. Only bout 7 guys deep, Norton took St. V down to the wire. This shot sent the game into . We ended up losing in OT. There was a chance Norton could have made further than just sectionals, but we will never get a chance to find out because private schools are mixed in. For football last year, I believe a local school, Wadsworth, lost to St. Ignatius from Cleveland in the state playoffs, or a private school like them. They were undefeated until that point. I like the expansion, but a private school division; that's what really needs to be done.

What a phenomenal hire... for the rest of the MAC. Christian is going to run half of the current players and recruits out of town. Cooper is pissed, they already lost a commit, and I can't imagine the rest of the team is happy. Not to mention the fact that he had a lot of off the court issues at Can't. This picture is for men's tennis teams from colleges in the area (sorta). Akron doesn't have a men's team. I don't see a problem with that. Maybe they should throw up a women's poster, but there's no men's poster to put up.
