  1. This group of guys is scary good. Unbelievable ball-handling skills. I've never seen a team keep possession of the ball the way these guys do. When the opposing team does take possession, our guys stay aggressive and never really let the other team get organized on offense. Our guys always seem to be where they're supposed to be on the field. Congrats Caleb on putting together something special.
    Amen dad...
  2. Very disappointing. Rodgers has had very little opportunity and to have to shoulder it all today is not all his fault. Hope Jacq feels a lot of the responsibiulity for that. Rodgers did not play well (with 4 INT's) but Indiana outmanned us, and with the poor field position the D was handed it was almost a given to score.
I also feel the play calling was bad. Rogers isn't the QB you call most of those plays for, and I don't think he was comfortable with it. We'll see as the year goes on, but let's just hope Akron can recover and beat CMU.On a positive note we scored 3 TDs and :screwks:
  3. I just watched BYU knock off #3 Oklahoma. Max Hall had an unbelievable drive, 70+ yards and it lead to a touchdown. BYU has had some great QB's in the past couple years: Max Hall, John Beck, etc.... Nearly EVERY year they are competing and knocking off BCS schools. Same thing with all these great teams having great QB's: Florida- Tim Tebow, OU- Sam Bradford, Texas- Colt McCoy, and others. All of these QB's have smarts. The smarts allow them to use their arm, or their speed, or their accuracy correctly. No, this is not a JD or Jacquemain bashing thread. I respect and appreciate all they do. I just think it's time to get a true QB. Football is becoming more about speed again, even though size helps. OSUcks has Pryor, Penn State has Clark, and Florida has Tebow. Speed isn't everything and Bradford and McCoy are showing that also. Jacquemain doesn't have the smarts these guys have, he doesn't have the speed or arm they have. I know we aren't recruiting on the same level as these schools, but I think we can do better than what we have. Now I would like to see what Jacquemain can do this year, because I do think he has improved, but for the future, it would be nice to know who our QB is for 4 years. Now let's go ZIPS! Fix everything that needs to be fixed and take care of Morgan State.

  4. Players walking around the place seemed "proud" to me. Should be a slam dunk recruiting tool.
My family and I talked to a few players and one of them mentioned that they were looking at a few other schools including OU, but that Akron's campus was nicer and easier to get around (OU is apparently too spaced out). He also mentioned the stadium was a big factor in his decision. GREAT job today though. VERY impressed with the stadium and how the event was run. It was fun just to walk around and the fact that they let you walk on the field was awesome. PUMPED FOR THE MORGAN STATE GAME! GO ZIPS!!!!
  5. I say build it in Memorial's/JAR's place; keep everything on campus, make it look like a TRUE college campus. If you want to make it bigger and use it for more things, place it somewhere with space, but keep it still close to campus. Just my $0.02.

  6. I think an interesting idea would be to have some sort of video collage tribute to the history of Zips basketball immediately before the player introductions begin.
Maybe they could use some of the Michigan NCAA Tourney footage/pictures. Or work their way up from the coaches and moments and then get to Dambrot and show possibly last years tourney game. They should also use the song that the MAC used to show all the MACC memorable moments (sorry I forget the name). Just adding on to your suggestion, but you have to have, somewhere in there, :screwks: WE ARE :champs:
  7. It sure is an interesting thing to think about. Personally, even if he had gone to Akron to play football, and even if he would have indeed been an NFL-caliber TE/Receiver, I'm not thinking that one player at that position could have made Akron a top-20 team. However, I think it would have been very possible for him to have impacted Akron basketball enough to make us a top-20 team.
I would say if he played on our basketball team, he'd make us a top 5-10 team; maybe even national championship caliber.
  8. I was there. My dad, my uncle, and I all sat on the home side. We were closer to the top, around the middle. At times, you could barely see the field. Greatest game at the Rubber Bowl I've ever seen there in my 14 year life. We left in the 3rd quarter; the cold found my skin even though I had like 5 billion layers on, not to mention the hand and feet warmers I was holding. What a great game; the Frozen Turkey Bowl. Go Zips! :champs::screwks:

  9. Heard that interview, too. Great interview. The two Big East teams for 2011 got my attention; sounds like Akron has been doing some work. They also talked about how much the stadium is helping recruiting and that this is the best recruiting class in a while. Sounds good. I liked what I heard.
