  1. I love the optimism. I, too, am very excited about these final 4 games. I said at the beginning of the year, "The final season in the rubber bowl will be a special one." So far that's true. Sure we haven't won at home, but we've won 4 straight on the road! That's amazing. Plus, there have been super close games, but mainly high scoring ones which is fun. I'm not losing faith, and I hope you're not either. GO ZIPS! :screwks::champs:

  2. I can use one word to sum up why we lost: DEFENSE! My gosh they sucked. If they would've showed up, it wouldn't have even been a game. I mean I know there were some turnovers and stuff, but not all of that was caused by the defense. Another thing is: GET ROGERS IN THERE! CJ just doesn't quite have the composure to play a whole game. Yes, I know lots of catchable balls were dropped, but try taking something off of those throws CJ!Positives: again our offense looks decent. I like the direction it's going. Our running game continues to be strong. Our special teams showed up.Against we were in the game. But how about we finish one?Being tied for second isn't bad, considering we are the best of the 2nd place teams IMO. BG will lose more. They aren't that good (which makes this loss even worse). Nothing else to do, but look ahead to Eastern and push this behind us. Go Zips!

  3. My few keys to success on Saturday:1) Jacquemain CANNOT throw as many INTs as he's averaging per game. 2) Our secondary... no wait, our WHOLE defense can't give up huge yd. plays. It's killing us. 3) Make better play calling. Passing on 3 and 1 isn't gonna get it every time. Give it to Tuzze or another RB and run the ball to get the first. 4) Get the TE involved. Just plain and simple. Just my thoughts on the game on Saturday. Go Zips! It's 7:44...AND CAN'T STATE STILL SUCKS!
Don't forget the high snaps! That needs to stop.
Oh yeah, that needs to stop BIG TIME! Thanks.

  5. A little early for grades IMO. We beat Syracuse, Army & Can't.If we lost to any one of those "teams" the "fire JD" threads would be obnoxious. We need to become more consistent. The one thing I do like now (that I didn't before)is the time off after the next two games. It sets up nice to improve our team. A goodcoaching staff is always able to improve their team with lot of time off between games. We should be a much better team when we play Toledo. I'll be ready for some grades after that game (good or bad).
Yeah, I see your point, but we lost to Wisconsin, Cincy (barely), and Ball State. Those are respectable losses, and we were in the games most of the time. But yes, we MUST be more consistent if we want to contend for a MAC title.
  6. That's INSANE! You would think as big of a company as Capital One is that they wouldn't fear anything. :lol:I'm gonna make a shirt now that says, "Capital One FEARS THE ROO!"Looking at this: 2002 Monte the Grizzly Montana State 2003 Cocky South Carolina 2004 Monte the Grizzly Montana State We might be in it next year. Go Zips!

  7. Chris Barton of Walsh Jesuit and Dominic Moore of Firestone are among the eight recruits signed by the nationally ranked University of Akron men's soccer team.Barton, a midfielder, was a 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American and Division II state player of the year.Moore, a defender, was second-team all-state as a senior, a two-time all-district selection and a three-time All-City Series pick. The class also includes three players who have been members of national youth teams: defender Kofi Sarkodie of Huber Heights; forward Teal Bunbury of Prior Lake, Minn.; and forward Darlington Nagbe, of Lakewood St. Edward.Other signees are midfielder Ryan Greenhill of Solon, a first-team all-state selection; forward Thomas Schmitt of Berea, who scored 70 goals in his career; and goalkeeper James McCormick of Winter Park, Fla., who had 29 career shutouts.''Once again, we have been fortunate to attract the top national talent and it bodes well for the future of Akron soccer,'' UA coach Caleb Porter said. ''This group should make their presence felt immediately, complimenting our current players while bolstering certain aspects of our team.''In 2007, the Zips won their fifth Mid-American Conference Tournament title on their way to being seeded 14th in the NCAA Tournament. The Zips open the 2008 season at the Indiana University Classic with games Aug. 29 against Notre Dame and Aug. 21 against the host Hoosiers
Simply put, Kofi Sarkodie is the top player in America in his age class. But -- when he pl;ayed in the U-17 World Cup last August, he was just 16 y.o. How can he play college soccer at 17? Anyhow, I'll take him!!!!!
Sounds like we have a soccer version of Amobi Okoye. Way to go Coach Porter!
