  1. An adult dance club should sponsor one of the leagues - that would at least be more accurate to the actions of these power conferences. Nobody wants this level of corporate involvement. This decision is getting destroyed, and these spineless commissioners and ADs don't care as long as their pockets are lined. All it would take is for a group of people with integrity, morals, and a spine to say, "SEC, Big Ten - you can go sword fight in the same urinal together. We don't want to play your game and instead want to cater to the fans of COLLEGE ATHLETICS, not your semi-pro BS. Enjoy whatever the future has in store." Then create a separate league that goes back to the roots of college athletics. Side note: I did see someone suggest that Anheuser-Busch should sponsor a league and name it Busch League. I might be able to get on board with that haha.
  2. That is going to look incredibly good and really complete the stadium. I'd imagine the original plan was to put a ribbon board there a while back before the team started sucking and private donors stayed away. Surprised Learfield is allowed to pay for something like this considering they work with multiple colleges. Thanks for the info, Hilltopper!
  3. There's an entire section of steel at the front of the away side upper deck that would normally be occupied by a scoreboard ribbon if we had P4 money. That is prime advertising real estate that I can't believe hasn't been utilized yet. Every camera angle from the press box that isn't directly zoomed in on the field would capture the signage.
  4. Bring him home.
  5. I watched Pete talk about this on Pat McAfee today. Hearing the explanation of how this would work, I'm going to agree with Pat McAfee - this is incredibly stupid business. However, the MAC should explore a variation of this. The idea Pat had would be to sell marketing rights where all the games are "Presented by (insert company here)" instead of outright naming rights.
  6. Wow! 84 ft is ~double (if not more) what the current video board is. The new board will essentially take up the real estate that is currently occupied by 1990s advertisement pieces. Here is the comparison... This coupled with better sound management (we need to let the band play more instead of obnoxiously blaring music constantly) will be a big boost to the gameday experience. There is a legitimate financial commitment being made by a select group of donors to Akron Athletics. Very encouraging.
  7. For any nerds out there like myself, this is some interesting stuff.
  8. I can only imagine what her major is. My kids can go wherever they want, except Kent. I'd rather them choose homelessness - at least they won't catch whatever illnesses get spread throughout that 💩hole.
  9. Having JD, Moorhead, and Ferri here has its benefits despite the W/L record not reflecting progress (yet).
  10. Kaulig Companies Field at Leaf Filter Stadium.
  11. UCONN coach Dan Hurley is expected to receive a record offer from the LA Lakers to be their next coach.
  12. Stevenson's Nati SC just lost to Pat McAfee's CONCAFA SC. This TST is a blast to watch. Great format.
  13. If I'm not mistaken, Bud Wentz mentioned that some sort of renovation is in the works for the JAR. There is legitimate money coming into athletics (baseball just got over $1M from the Skeeles family) and Guthrie stated "we're just getting started".
  14. Incredible. I love the money coming into athletics. Gives me hope.
  15. Come on JoeMo... Let's have some success so the staff stays together and we get Larry's son here!
  16. While we wait for the OOC to be announced, one game we do know is the Sun Belt is at the MAC early in the season. Akron will probably have either App State or James Madison - both of which have new coaches and full roster turnover.
  17. JD is really leaning into his relationship with Larry Fitz. His profile pic is also he and Larry. Love it. Let's get Larry Fitz to visit Akron.
  18. This poll needs entirely redone. Linhart and Darryl Peterson need to be included. Cheese, Ali, and Ivey were technically guards. Chris McKnight and Treadwell were PF.
  19. Ding ding ding. This is an exciting schedule for a competitive team. We saw last season that our defense can keep us in games with both Indiana and Kentucky. If Finley plays well, who's to say we aren't competitive in the games vs Rutgers & SC? Ohio State is what it is - thank you for the pay day.
