  1. Based on how much my groceries keep going up, I shutter to think about how expensive FloSports is now. FloSports is dumb for their pricing model and the Big East is even dumber for allowing their product to be pay-walled in that way.
  2. To accompany Captain's photos & recap, here are some videos highlights.
  3. Music to my ears to hear two things... - Even with Tahj potentially being improved, Finley is a clear cut upgrade. That bodes well for the success of this offense. - Having legitimate kickers on FGs is something we haven't had in years. Would've beaten Indiana last year had that been the case.
  4. My buddy's wife is a teacher in Westerville and knows Josh & his family. "Great kid, his parents are great too. He's got serious game for a high schooler. I'm a little surprised he's going MAC. I thought maybe a little higher."
  5. This out-of-the-box marketing cost the University $0, but highlights Akron in a great light to the national audience. Personally I love the logo and think it competes in class with the best letter logos in college athletics. It's definitely a sharper Arby's A though - great find.
  6. Massive piece of marketing here for Akron. Guthrie gets it.
  7. Love that schedule. St. Mary's, Princeton, and Yale are all who we strive to be in March. Everything else is what it is.
  8. Wake probably sees that as an easier win with an opportunity to bump attendance for a non P6 game. Regional school coming off a year with a lot of national hype in basketball & football but... New coach and entirely new roster. Schools risk everything playing Akron with little reward. Personally, I'm going to believe Bud Wentz. No reason not to.

  10. Bud Wentz stated last year that Akron has attempted to schedule big time schools and they've said no. It takes 2 to tango. If the P5s/P6s want hide away in their safe spaces, let em. March is the only thing that matters at the G5 level and Groce will most likely put us in a position yet again to force the bigger programs to play us at that point.
  11. Not sure where to put this, but our AD "gets it." This guy is a social media sensation for sports fans as he travels the country and tries to enter into unlocked stadiums and arenas.
  12. Anybody know how the $1.2m per year for the naming rights compares to the InfoCision deal? Edit: Found it. $10m over 20 years starting in 2007(?). $500k per year. Yikes.
  13. Great article in the Toledo Blade with anonymous answers from MAC ADs. Some call outs... - Doesn't seem like the UMASS addition was anywhere near unanimous or even discussed much. - Akron is often named the toughest football job due to our financial priorities being elsewhere.
  14. 6-6 realistic. 7-5 if we pull off a Rutgers upset. The difference for me is Ohio. I think we win that. WMU and NIU could also be wins as you mentioned, but I'll leave those as losses for the sake of a realistic prediction and not homer prediction.
  15. The MAC is moving in the opposite direction of the whiners - they're planting their flag firmly in Northeast Ohio. The MAC football media days are now in Canton, and the MAC Championship game will probably be moved to Cleveland once the Haslems build the dome.
  16. I agree if this event replaces more legitimate opponents in future schedules. However, if we could somehow get better opponents to join the event OR use this event to bunch the lower level competition together to free up other dates on the schedule for higher level opponents, this would be a win.
  17. Is this the foundation for future events with bigger schools? I know WMU's plan for their new arena is to have to ability to host events like this. Hopefully UA is thinking the same with the JAR renovations on the horizon.
  18. This looks to be quite the get. 21 offers including some solid P5s and upper echelon G5s.
  19. I'd imagine LCJ is a key part of the practice facility opening festivities.
