  1. Ampai to SJ. That'll do it!
  2. Korb to United!
  3. Lots of the talk on the live chats is surrounding Ampai. Much surprise he hasn't been taken yet. I think he's a little later than I expected but it's not Brady Quinn-esque yet.
  4. No! They go with Zarek instead!!! Wow.
  5. Let's see if Chivas adds another Zip.... Kofi?
  6. Darlington #2.... I wonder if his "immigration" issues had something to do with the Salgado pick. ALthough I would be hard pressed to find many people who didn't think Kitchen would be better than Salgado. Oh well. DC United is probably thrilled that Perry fell into their lap.
  7. Wow, Salgado #1. Crazy.
  8. No, I don't agree with the question. The reason the SEC is good goes far beyond money to climate, population, culture, etc. Cheating going on in college football is like gambling going on in Casablanca. It goes on in the SEC...It goes on in the Big Ten....It goes on in the PAC 10...etc. It's going on everywhere and has been since the beginning of college athletics. The only difference is whether or not you get caught. The reason the SEC is so good is because of the practice of oversigning. The MAC needs to adapt this tactic until the NCAA closes the loophole. Zach, Thanks for posting that link. I honestly don't know why oversigning is not a major news story. I had vaguely heard of it, but that site clearly exposed the problems and unethical nature of it. I hope you weren't serious when you said the MAC should do it too.
  9. I think if we played them you would see that we don't.
  10. Who's ready to go see the buckeyes?
  11. Phenomenal article. The state of soccer in the US is very interesting at the moment.
  12. I was wondering the same thing. It's supposed to be nasty tomorrow. I'll be there either way, but I sure hope people come out even with subpar weather conditions.
  13. Sure it wasn't Jim Carey???
  14. I got the Ducks. Quack.
  15. Done. Hopefully they get this up as that would be very cool!
  16. All accounts point to Blum being a complete and total jackass. It's easy to win recruiting battles when the other coach is unhinged, haha.
  17. I say Holmgren will meet with himself, be blown away by what he hears and get a deal done for his new coach. (not my words, a Seattle Seahawk fan just emailed this to me and I thought it was funny) I wonder what "price point" Holmgren will have in mind when he's talking to Holmgren. I think he's going to demand a high "work rate," whatever the price might be.
  18. From @CoryMcKnight: Where will Urban Meyer's next coaching job be? My hunch is he might be the guy whenever Jim Tressel decides to step down at Ohio State, given that he is an Ohio guy and it is a very big job. To me, OSU seems a little more viable than some other potential openings. I couldn't see him coming back in a year or two to take over at Georgia, even though the Bulldogs new AD came from UF. I wouldn't think taking a job at one of UF's archrivals would feel right to him. I doubt Notre Dame would be an option, either, but part of my thought process on that is because I suspect Brian Kelly will be entrenched there for quite a while. Would Meyer potentially trade off with Mack Brown after a year or two in the broadcast booth? I think it'd be tempting, given all that UT has to offer. But that job, as much as any, with the possible exception of Notre Dame, requires you to do more external work than probably any other. Given Meyer's final two seasons at UF, I'd doubt he'd want to undertake that.
  19. I never attended UA. Does that mean I have to stop rooting for the Zips? +1. By everyone's logic here Dave and I cannot be Zips fans. You are correct wad; get out. Oh, by the way, do you think Illinois is hapless or hapful? Well, consider this my signing off post... Not sure what Illinois has to do with anything, but I'll go with hapful.

  21. When Perry Kitchen is playing in the World Cup, they may or may not mention that he played collegiately at the University of Akron. Just a thought.
  22. Looking forward to seeing out boys in the MLS, along with getting some US Squad experience in the future I hope you are not suggesting something about the sexual preferences of these fine young men. Go easy on him Zipmeister... he's new.
  23. Please, someone tell me what we're not understanding. I see all of the Akron guys making somewhere around 50K. 50k is a hell of a lot more than most fresh grads will make in their entry level first jobs. 28-35k is the norm. GA contracts are higher than the "league min." Look at Zakuani... his guaranteed 2010 is over $160,000. I would expect that the GA guys will be making around $100,000ish.
  24. QUACK! QUACK! QUACK! I've got ya.
  25. Based on the wording of the article, to me it sounds like it is not a matter of if Perry is going, but where (MLS or otherwise). The "negotiations" that are taking place lead me to believe he has an offer elsewhere and the MLS is competing against that bid. We shall see, but I think Perry might be going. I'm shocked that so many Zips are GA. It's great for the program, but to have 5 guys in the discussion is insane. The most ever from one school at a time prior to this was 3. That's why Nanchoff, Mattocks, and Perry were not on my initial thoughts for players leaving. It's a testament to the program though. Now Porter can build the team from (almost) scratch and do it again next year. Go Zips!
