I think it would be a good idea to honor them at the Bethune Cookman game, only because it would help the basketball attendance dramatically. That said, that's a bad reason to do it. I can't even tell you how awesome the folks at UCSB were. The entire experience was amazing and the stadium truly was "Soccer Heaven." Thanks to all the Gaucho Locos that adopted the Zips. Playing BG twice is going to KILL us. They are amongst the bottom 10 teams in terms of RPI without many more chances to improve. It is going to take some big performances over these next couple weeks for the Zips to even stay in the top 75 by the end of the year. This conference simply isn't strong enough to support teams staying in the top 50. The only way we stay in the top 75 is by winning out. That means beating Temple, Minnesota, and Miami all on the road. Plus not losing a single MAC game. Can't is in the same boat as us. I think we can stay top 75 easy even if we lose those games. Remember Vermont a few years ago was top 30 and they play in a much weaker conference than the MAC. If we win almost all of our MAC games I would venture we would be in the top 75.

That's true about Zippy, i posted something about that yesterday on another topic and no one seems to care that our mascot isn't going. I think it's a pretty big deal. I'm with you on this. It's ridiculous that they can't find money to send the mascot with the team to the final 4.

For my part I will throw out this prediction: Akron 2 Michigan 0 Our D is due for a good game. It seems counterintuitive that I would pick the game against Michigan (whose offense appears to be on a roll), but like Coach Porter said yesterday... In the back of their minds Michigan knows they cannot compete with us. We have beat them at their place (5-1 last year) at our place (7-1 this year) and we will beat them in California. Before this gets out of hand all accounts point to exactly what Rasor posted on his blog. No cheering involved on the AR's part. He was getting torched by Caleb the whole first half after Valentin got taken down hard in the corner in the first two minutes. Caleb then thought Cal was offside on their first goal (I do not believe he was). Caleb was incessantly yelling at him the whole time. After Akron scored and the AR was walking by Caleb something was said that was inaudible to others in the area. At that time the AR called the Center Official over and gave an ultimatum that either you give Porter a red card or I quit. The Center Official would not oblige so he left and took his flag with him. Something I have never seen in soccer in my life. Crazy. I have heard this from multiple sources in multiple areas around Caleb. (Some on the bench, some in GA right by the bench, and another working the game). This is what I heard from ALL of them. The Center Official did not kick him out for blatantly missing an offside call. The AR quit on his own. These are all facts.

Did they really just arrive here today??? I feel like that's a short turnaround for a game at 4 tomorrow afternoon. Seriously, I think we will win by at least 2 goals tomorrow.

Who's everyone rooting for? Would you rather play Lolla in the championship or the Suckeyes? I want the Suckeyes because that would feel so much better saying we won the title against the "big" Ohio school. I'd rather play Louisville. Because OSU is better than them.

The match up is set to decide who goes to the college cup. After the Zips play tonight I'm feeling pretty good about this one. Add in the fact that Cal will have to travel across the country I think the Zips come out all over them and get an early goal. Prediction: Zips 2 Cal 0
