  1. Man, that was a fun game to watch. We had Louisville on the ropes. We just ran out of time.
  2. Got a verbal from 6-2, 200 DB Eric Scott of Butler C.C. ??
  3. We also get a verbal from defensive corner Woobendy Guerrier ??
  4. On my phone... but we got a big verbal from 6-3, 300-pound JUCO DT Nasir Sy. Sy was a 3-star recruit in hs who was offered by Wisconsin.
  5. If you have Hulu the game is on the ACC Network.
  6. Link to press conference I still like Arth and think he'll do well. I still vividly remember iCoach. Though we may not win a game this season, Arth is no iCoach and this team is playing harder and competing better than the iCoach-led teams. I like Arth's demeanor and obvious intelligence. His staff is composed of some sincerely good people who honestly care about the young men (I still think Marcus Wattley would have been a natural fit on this staff). I could see this staff easily and naturally attracting the sort of athletes/young men required to be be successful at an Ivy League institution, but we'll see whether they have what it takes to succeed at this level.
  7. ABJ's Bod Dyer rips UA Football a new one. But nothing he says isn't true.
  8. I dont think Ballard had a single reception last night? ?
  9. The U made me proud tonight! Well done. Perfect venue & perfectly run event.
  10. ABJ: Zips jump out early, defeat Youngstown State 82-60
  11. Good question about the injuries impacting his growth. I - along with a number of other posters on here - thought he looked his best his freshman year before his injury. He hasn't looked quite the same since. To this day it infuriates me when refs call T's for hanging on the rim after dunks. Jaden about killed himself because he was afraid of getting T'd up.
  12. Good topic... 1. Definitely more athletic than KD teams. Fun! 2. Yes, Reece is a beast. 6-7, muscular, explosive, long arms & an attitude. 3. I think Williams has MAC POY potential. If he gets his 3-point % up a little, look out! He's a physically gifted, mature and intelligent ball player. 4. Yes, I think Tribble will be a star. When's the last time we've had such a muscular, athletic, 6'1" PG? You said you think he'll be our best PG since Dru. I'll say I think he'll be our best PG since... Darryl Roberts. 5. Most improved player. You said Dang Riak. I wish I felt that way. When I watch him play I still think he looks soft as tissue paper. But I do like him under the basket on D directing traffic & serving as Rim Protector. 6. LCJ is streaky. But I love his competitive fire. Napoleon Complex. Lol. 7. I love the way Ali moves and handles the ball for someone 6'8". He could have played PG in high school. I also wish he had more of a scorer's mentality. He's an intelligent player, but that can be a two-edged sword, as he's over-thinking things on offense right now. It'll slow down for him & he'll become more confident in his shot. Don't know if he'll ever be a real scoring threat though. But with Ali it's 100% mental. So we'll see. 8. What would we do without Tyler Cheese?
  13. Makes sense. Thanks!
  14. Noticed that while at the game. Jaden wasn't in until 1:56, even though at one point we had a 24-point lead. I think Groce is letting him know that he's not going to see the floor for us and if he wants college p.t. he's gonna have to transfer?
  15. Not that I'm aware. I wish there were a few from Hoban, but there aren't. We wouldn't have stood much of a change in landing RB/S/LB Deamonte Trayanum or TE Caden Clark as they've had high-level P5 offers since their sophomore years. But I would have loved to have kept LB Devin Hightower (Michigan State) home. Hoban is going to be loaded next season so maybe we can keep a handful of them home. Like Melissa Jackson says, "Keep Akron in Akron." Some of the Hoban juniors we're going to want to give serious looks next year: LB Luke Bauer, 6-0, 232 LB Damon Ollison, 6-0, 215 CB Alvin Stallworth, 6-0, 190 DE Darryl Peterson, 6-3, 235 RB Victor Dawson, 6-0, 200 There might be others. Idk I believe the previous staff may have offered Massillon (former STVM) RB Terrance Keyes Jr. But Idk if the offer still stands. Like Trayanum and Clark from Hoban, we would have had no shot with Massillon junior WR Jaden Ballard who's already verballed to Ohio State & is probably the best hs WR I've ever seen. So smooth. But we're gonna want to offer Massillon's other big-play WR Andrew Wilson-Lamp (6-3). He's another top shelf talent. Massillon's QB, Aiden Longwell, is signed to play baseball at Kent State next year. St. Ed's has an OL named Ronan Chambers committed to Akron.
  16. Sometimes the plays seem to take way too long to develop. But I don't know if that's on the scheme or on Kato. I think the staff needs to scheme with Kato similarly to how the Browns need to scheme with Baker Mayfield - one or two quick reads and get the ball out of his hands. If nothing's there either scramble for 3-4 yards or throw it away.
  17. Dustin Fox was an analyst for the ESPN feed last night & he mentioned there had been a few head-scratching, momentum-changing calls go against Akron.
  18. I'm going to the game tomorrow night. I'm looking for Massillon to win tomorrow night as Hoban is really banged up and Massillon has been clicking all season. (I really like Massillon's coach, btw. Nate Moore. Guy really knows what he's doing.) However, I'm predicting Hoban (if healthy, of course) to win another state championship next year. They're Ohio's new juggernaut. Anyway, to your question... I'm predicting a crowd falling somewhere between your #3 and #4 options. There's a big jump between #3 (less than 15,000) and #4 (a sell-out). I'll predict 20,000. Biggest hs crowd of the year in Ohio. A larger attendance than any of the state championship games. Btw, I'll predict 5,000 Hoban fans and 15,000 Massillon fans. (There's nothing to do in Massillon. Lol.)
  19. This thread is fun as I love this sort of thing, but I'd be surprised if we have any players on the list the coaching staff isn't already aware of and in contact with. Whether or not the staff will make them an official offer is another topic. The All-NEO-Inland District football teams were just released, so we could probably add quite a few names from that list to this list. The NEO-Inland D-1 Defensive POY was a kid from Medina I'd never heard of - DE Noah Nunn. I'm sure the coaching staff knows all about Noah & has already had a few in-person conversations with him. The NEO-Inland D-1 Offensive POY was RB Lameir Garrett from McKinley. I had earlier added him to the list. But there's no way the coaching staff doesn't know all about Lamier - I think he was 1st Team D-1 All-Ohio last year. But we only have so many scholarships to offer & we have to make the best use of the limited number.
  20. Not that the scholarship chart should be updated until it's officially announced, but FWIW, I was watching the women's team on ESPN+ tonight & Jackie Windon was commenting on Jordyn Dawson (Mikal Dawson's sister who plays on the women's team) and said that "her brother is going to be playing for the men's team next year." So I was glad to hear that.
  21. Teon Dollard may be the RB we got a commitment from. 6-0, 215. He's a strong runner who looks both quick and fast. To boot, add in good field vision. His Hudl highlight tape from this past season is impressive.
