Unless you're a Duke, North Carolina or Kansas, and are consistently landing McDonald's High School All-Americans, the formula for winning is "Get Old; Stay Old." Groce is doing a masterful job of that. Our main contributors are all seniors - Cheese, Banks & X with LCJ still having another year. Our underclassmen are talented but can take a year or two to ease their way into D-1 ball & let the game slow down for them. Tribble, Ali & Dawson (Dawson's a grown-ass man) all look good and are all getting valuable minutes this year without having a lot of pressure on them (Tribble and Ali are playing truly meaningful minutes). Next year we're adding Trimble (Jr.) and Dailey (Sr.) and ready-to-contribute sophomore big Taylor Currie so, so our current frosh still won't have all the pressure on them. Future of the program's looking good. Groce has us rolling. Next season: PG: LCJ Tribble (Garvin redshirt) W: Trimble Dawson W: Dailey Ali Edwards P: Reese Sayles P: Currie To fill out a championship-caliber roster I'm still thinking we need a ready-to-contribute JUCO post player for next season.

This team's chemistry is outstanding. Passing, moving without the ball, understanding each other's strengths, getting them the ball in position, players understanding the pecking order, talented freshmen who are currently comfortable carrying the upperclassmen's luggage, so to speak, no egos concerning who's in the starting lineup, bench cheering for each other. I could go on. It's obvious they like each other and are having fun. Of course, things are going well right now. We'll probably hit a rough patch sometime this season & we'll see how they respond.

We own Western. We play much better defense than Ohio showed today. They let Flowers get a number of open looks. I don’t see us doing that.

I think the arena is fantastic. I’d give my left nut for an arena like that. Across Main Street from Canal Park. Maybe one day... It’s their fan base we poke fun at. The arena makes me green with envy!

Love it. It makes those Akron -v- Kent games the most epic sporting events northeast Ohio has to offer.

Thanks, @clarkwgriswold! The Broncos’ win over the Bobkittens was actually in Kalamazoo. The game was closer than the final score would indicate. i believe I heard one of the announcers say Flowers is the 2nd-leading scorer in the MAC.

With Bowden as a last name I’m still perplexed at how weak our recruiting classes were. I’m 47 now, so maybe I’m just showing my age with still being enamored with the Bowden name?

I am ever so slightly torn on KSUcks. I think the Akron -v- Kent basketball games are so epic because both are quality programs and the games are tightly contested. As far as sporting events go, those two Akron -v- KSUcks basketball games are yearly highlights. If our respective football programs could both replicate that, man, that could become one absolutely epic football rivalry. It's already extremely heated and both programs traditionally suck. Plus, the MAC is now 2-0. CMU playing San Diego State at 2:30 today.

Btw, Mikal Dawson is big. His Huntington HS & Huntington Prep reviews would generally list him between 6'3" and 6'4", but then before the Concord game Frenchy said he was around 6'2"? Well, yesterday as the teams were going through the post-game handshake line, Mikal was standing beside X & you could tell he's clearly taller than 6'2". GoZips dot com now has him listed at 6'5" and, in relation to X, that looks accurate.

Cheese had an awful game yesterday. Fortunately we know that's a rarity. I'm looking for Cheese to make a big bounce back this afternoon.
