  2. I was a bit concerned about playing NIU a mere 5 days after traveling to Mount Pleasant to face CMU. But that turn-around is not nearly as tough as the turn-around NIU has. They play at BYU a mere 5 days before coming to Akron. Hopefully the Huskies will be a little worn out & flat.
  3. Excellent news! Adding a 3-star LB & 2 DL (Jest being a 300-pounder). Jean-Baptiste's highlight show him playing DE (he can really move for a man his size!), but at 270-pounds, he could also play some much-needed DT.
  4. Tonight on ZipsLive Coach Groce reiterated that he's been happy with our effort over the last 4 games.
  5. Only 5 home games.
  6. Both our games against BUGS were nail-biters. BUGS seems to have a mental block against us. There's no way that team should lose to our depleted, young roster. They've got A LOT of firepower on that team: Frye Turner Lillard Koch Wiggins There's no way they should be losing to our young squad with one player over 6-6
  7. For next year's ('19) recruiting class we already have three commitments - and all players from Florida. So I don't think we have to worry about Bowden & Co. pulling out of the Sunshine State. (See post #1 in the "2019 Recruiting" thread.) However, for '19 we have also offered a LB from Cincinnati, Jarred Uran (La Salle). IIRC we haven't done much (any?) recruiting of southern Ohio since Bowden's been here. So maybe this is in response to this new initiative?
  8. I got home with about 10 minutes left in the game & he didn't see the floor. Did he play at all tonight?
  9. Sadly, I agree with Clark. This Akron Beacon game day story reminded me that when we beat BUGS, at home, on Cotton's last-second shot, Sayles contributed 14 points and 4 rebounds. I believe Demajeo Wiggins and Derek Koch will have their way with us tonight.
  10. I believe those are offers, Skip. I believe the chart indicates he was showing "medium" interest in them.
  11. Wish we could have opened with Morgan State at home before travelling to Nebraska.
  12. Jarred Uran, LB, 6-2, 195, LaSalle, Cincinnati, OH
  13. Wood: 6-6 Tree: 6-7 Rome: 6-7 Since I stand a whopping 5-8, I consider the above heights pretty close to 6-8. Lol
  14. Well said.
  15. Keep updates coming, please!
  16. AkronDotCom Game Day Story - PCCC Angle
  17. Akron dot com Game Day Story Saturday will be the first since the 1996-97 season that both teams come into the game with a losing record. UA produced an 8-18 overall record and went 6-12 in the conference, and Kent State was 9-18 and 7-11 in the MAC that season.
  18. I made a cup of tea, sat in my easy chair and read through their whopping three posts. One of the three posters stated: "thoughts: more Zabo/ less Walker...hopefully success tomorrow." That really surprised me. I haven't been following K.e.nt at all this year, but is Jaylin Walker struggling? Coming into the year I thought he might be preseason MAC POTY. Apparently not happening for him. They obviously haven't been able to adjust to life without Jimmy Hall.
  19. Ja'Quay Hubbard, OL, 6-6, 333, Sharpsville HS, Sharpsville, PA
  20. Cam Craig, OL, 6-4, 280, Dublin Jerome HS, Dublin, OH
  21. From the above article: "So how bad could be it? In terms of NCAA rules, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports that the material obtained threatens the fundamental structure and integrity of the sport, as there’s potentially as many 50 college basketball programs that could end up compromised in some way."
  22. Jay Amburgey, 3-star OL, 6-5, 265, Reynoldsburg HS, Reynoldsburg, OH As of 4/15 holds offers from a number of MAC schools: Akron, Ball Sweat, BUGS, Buffalo, KSUcks, Miami & Ohio, as well as Eastern Kentucky.
