U of A Football: Spring practice begins with Kato Nelson in a lead role, several positions up for grabs “Kato is clearly No. 1, but one of the most impressive players in our offseason program has been Alex Ramart.” This is the competition I am most interested in. I'd be surprised if Kato doesn't begin next season as the starter... but I'm really excited to see what Alex brings to the table. I'm looking forward to @CDMac keeping us in the know! According to the article Suggs won't be in the mix this spring because of a legal issue. :/

I always roll my eyes and yawn when the Zips bring UMBC into the JAR. People are saying that's a mid-major beating a high-major. Actually, that's a low-major beating a high-major. Beating down on a high-major, really.

I'm with you, NW. I think you're going to like LePear Toles. Toles' game is a lot like Parrish's game. Parrish is a bit more athletic, whereas LePear is a better ball handler w/ a better outside shot. (Keeping in mind it's been two years since I've seen LePear play. Lol.)

That sucks. I still can't believe we never went dancing during Kwan & Big Dog's 4 years.

He was a grad transfer like Malcolm was for us. His transferring out really hurt our team. We could have had an electric, experienced veteran running the PG spot & it would have enabled Malcolm to play off the ball at a more natural 2G spot. That would have made a world of difference, IMHO.

Charlie Batch was the EMU QB at the first Zips' game I really remember going to (my dad took me to a few when I was a little kid). It was Lee Owen's first year as Zips' head football coach. Lew Lawton (IIRC) ran back the opening kickoff for the Zips. I remember thinking what a gorgeous pass Charlie Batch threw. He was so smooth.

He said something like, "They have to change for us; we don't change for them. If they don't want to play ball the Akron way, they can do it someplace else." Paraphrasing, of course.

This summer's and fall's scrimmages are going to be epic: PG: Cotton Jackson 2G: Ivey Hester W: Parrish Toles F: Utomi Sayles P: Riak Poke Mix in Patton, K-lac & whoever else signs over the next few weeks... I'd pay to watch

I'd love to see Malcolm as a grad assistant next year as he finishes up his master's.

I'm pro-Groce. But I noticed/was thinking the same thing.

It's difficult for me to wrap my head around the fact that we play one senior, one junior and one sophomore. Crazy! All things considered, we overachieved. Proud of these guys! Go Zips!

I'm sure that after a 2-hour film session/coaches meeting, the coaches emerge and tell the players, "We've figured out we'll have to score more points than the other team."
