  2. I'm going to try to make the scrimmage this Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to report back a thing or two, but I'm no @CDMac. It'll be a bit more elementary than what he is able to provide.
  3. An article from The Devil Strip: From the Heart of the Valley to the Heart of the City, Ron Shea's Plans for Akron's First Brewery District
  4. Again, I have to preface this with the fact I love KD. But I think the KD era showed us the ceiling for Zips basketball under KD. I think Groce may be able to take the Zips to a higher level than KD did, but only by building on the foundation KD laid. Before KD, Zips basketball was a disaster. So nothing but love to KD.
  5. This is my thinking. For NFL scouts to see you, you have to be on the field. It's easier to get on the field in the MAC than at a Power 5 school.
  6. Hadn't heard about this till today. Being led by Ronald Shea of R. Shea Brewing. Sounds like there's a lot of potential at Canal Place! Here is a blog explaining what he wants to do Edit: Okay, there have been scattered stories in the ABJ, but it looks like it's finally coming together. Here's another article I found (6/18/17) on Missing Falls Brewery... Missing Falls Brewery now headed to downtown Akron And here is an article on Lock 15 Brewing. They won't be in Canal Place, but they are located along the canal on the northern end of downtown. Lock 15 Brewing plans to be a destination in Akron Hot off the presses: R. Shea signs lease for new production brewery, restaurant in Akron
  7. Look at this article the Canton Rep published on a RB at Malone! MALONE!!! Now I'm curious to go see the kid play. Why doesn't the ABJ get it? Jealous >:(
  8. I was hoping to, but no. Here's an article by GT. No details about the controlled scrimmage yesterday, but concerns restocking the OL. UA Football: Zips begin competition to fill holes on offensive line
  9. Dr. Z, are you sure there's a scrimmage tomorrow a.m.?
  10. Excellent! Two articles in two days. University of Akron Football: Developing Kato Nelson into an effective dual-threat quarterback a priority for Zips
  11. I noticed those two, plus Jordan George. Excited to see LB James King on the roster.
  12. I wasn't endorsing Scott Barnes. I just didn't want to steal the quote. Lol
  13. And UMBC just opened their $85 million Event Center. It only sits 5,000, but looks like a beautiful facility. The Baltimore Sun: 'All grown up': UMBC invests in athletics with $85 million Event Center
  14. Yep. Thanks for sharing the post, Sarge. Football & Men's Basketball should not be line-itemed within the Athletics budget. They should be considered a part of the Advertising/Marketing budget. "Athletics are the front porch of the university. It's not the most important room in the house, but it is the most visible." -Scott Barnes, Director of Athletics at Oregon State.
  15. U of A Football: Spring practice begins with Kato Nelson in a lead role, several positions up for grabs “Kato is clearly No. 1, but one of the most impressive players in our offseason program has been Alex Ramart.” This is the competition I am most interested in. I'd be surprised if Kato doesn't begin next season as the starter... but I'm really excited to see what Alex brings to the table. I'm looking forward to @CDMac keeping us in the know! According to the article Suggs won't be in the mix this spring because of a legal issue. :/
  16. I always roll my eyes and yawn when the Zips bring UMBC into the JAR. People are saying that's a mid-major beating a high-major. Actually, that's a low-major beating a high-major. Beating down on a high-major, really.
  17. #13 Marshall beat #4 Wichita State 81-75. Go Herd! (Wish they were still in the MAC.)
  18. Probably for the best. But right now we're without a true PG. EDIT: sorry, I'm a little distracted. I forgot about Loren Jackson.
  19. I though we were playing our games at Canal Park?
  20. Ohio dot com editorial: Now that Central Florida has a president, what's the mission at UA?
  21. I'm with you, NW. I think you're going to like LePear Toles. Toles' game is a lot like Parrish's game. Parrish is a bit more athletic, whereas LePear is a better ball handler w/ a better outside shot. (Keeping in mind it's been two years since I've seen LePear play. Lol.)
