  1. Agreed. Akron and K.e.nt should play that up. Maybe they should even copyright the phrase "best mid-major rivalry in the country." Use it in advertising at least 3x per year: 2x men's basketball & football. Anything... anything... to stoke interest & sell tickets. Massillon and McKinley really play up the oldest high school rivalry in the country angle. It makes it seem like more people are interested in it than there actually are. But it helps perception and perception is reality. We should be smart enough to do the same.
  2. Any updates on LePear? I'd love to see LePear don the blue & gold. He's at Fork Union Military Academy so barely ever tweets. I.e., not putting much information out there.
  3. I saw that last night & should have posted it. I am impressed. He seems like such a good, likable guy. He's doing a tremendous job undoing the damage of The Scar.
  4. Another uninspired, mailed-in, calling-it-half-hearted-would-be-generous, boring, lazily-written article from the Beacon Journal
  5. How could something like this have happened?!?! I'm not nearly as gracious a loser as LaLa Land's cast & crew!!! I'm kicking and screaming and you'll have to drag me off the stage!!!!!
  6. Perusing the roster... Newman Williams still a TE...
  7. But that's Earth Day! Now no one's going to show up.
  8. I'm already feeling better about Friday night.
  9. KD seems to almost have too much faith in this team. It's one thing to let them play through mistakes and occasionally figure things out on their own without calling timeouts. But it can only go so far...
  10. "The MAC just released its 2017 football schedule. There are ZERO Saturday games in November." -Matt Brown The MAC sucks.
  11. Unfortunately, it was a perfect storm. Carmello Betancourt was the worst scholarship PG I've ever seen play at Akron. Essentially, we were playing 4-on-5 w/ no PG and no bench.
  12. Who decides these things and is there any way for Larry Williams to preview the schedule and say, "Whoa, hold up there! I really don't think so. TRY AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME WITHOUT BEING MORONS!"?
  13. Silly me, I thought the MAC had gotten smart last year after they scheduled the Akron-K.ent game earlier in the year before the weather turns sour. Play K.ent in October & play Ohio for Rivalry Week. Why can't the MAC ever get anything right?
  14. On Tuesday nights!!!!!
  15. I think Mivid12 is right, in that, after 12 years, this does seem to be KD's ceiling. But, at the same time, I also think KD is the best we can do. This seems to be Akron's ceiling. Our recruiting is good by MAC standards, but poor if you want to be "the Gonzaga of the east." Losing out on our very own home-grown Jayvon Graves to... Buffalo () is one recent evidence of this. Losing Jayvon is a kick to the nuts, especially considering our PG's being perpetually undersized & un-athletic. I knew we should have offered Jayvon when he was a sophomore. Though you can't tell by my tone, I'm an optimist. Though we lose height next season, we should be more athletic. Antino, Ivey, Utomi, Parrish and Isaiah Williams are all athletic players who should be able to get to the basket off the dribble; much more athletic than this year's version of the Zips. Who could do better? That's impossible to answer, really. I'd keep KD until he's ready to retire because I don't think we can do better.
  16. Last-place RedHawks upset regular-season champion Zips This ABJ article is by Tim Rogers & he rightfully rips the Zips a new one. Nothing positive in this article whatsoever. Good. I like it when the press does this. Much better than Terry Pluto's old and tired, "Oh, we should just be content; what do you expect anyway, it's just Akron... blah, blah, blah."
  17. This is what I've been feeling about our record for a long time. Great record, but winning by the skin of your teeth in a very mediocre MAC conference... we're not that good.
  18. What a tremendous, godly perspective you have! Thank you for your love and maturity. Kwan is truly blessed to have you molding and guiding his life. It will pay dividends far beyond the relatively trivial world of basketball.
