  1. Every team worries me in Cleveland. Actually, the team that worries me the most is us. If we play like we played in Athens any team in the league can beat us. If we play our game, no team in the league can beat us. Most of all, 6'10, 320-pound Dog playing 3 games in 3 days worries me. Before this weekend my top 3 concerns were 1. Buffalo 2. EMU 3. CMU But given their recent struggles, I'm going to knock EMU & CMU off the list & say only one team truly worries me: Buffalo. If we play our best and they play their best, it's going to be a good game and could go either way. OU may be a distant 2nd now, but only because the league has so much parity behind us. And again, it's a d...i...s...t...a...n...t second to UB. Again, if we play like we did in Athens, we'd lose in the first round of the MACT... and deservedly so.
  2. Toledo just ran K.e.nt by 20. 78-58 Final in Toledo.
  3. I doubt anyone would say they attend a basketball game for the band, but they are definitely a piece of the puzzle in a cumulative effect.
  4. I noticed Kwan getting his rhythm back seemed to directly impact Noah's confidence as well. I wish it had the same effect on Josh.
  5. Akron Beacon Journal: We could hardly care any less about the Zips so just bought a few paragraphs from an AP writer... though the game was only three hours away.
  6. What a waste of a season for Big Mike
  7. Cheetham's getting his legs back into his jump shot.
  8. We're a little bit better than every team in the MAC. Our record will once again look great. Fool's gold.
  9. Idk if I've ever seen KD be as patient with a player as he is with Josh. I think it's to the detriment of the team.
  10. EMU came back to make it a 1-point game at the half. But this is where we want to be. No worries.
  11. Noah's never really bounced back from that knee injury his freshman year. It's a shame. I had never seen a freshman have command of a game like he did. Now he's just an above average MAC PG.
  12. Agreed. He's gonna be a good one.
  13. There it is. Shooters keep shooting. Keep your head up, Josh.
  14. Man, what's wrong with Josh? I simply wish he could shoot it like he did in high school
  15. Uh, oh, Balsy. The Cavs called your bluff Goodyear reaches agreement with Cavs to place patch on jerseys (Wonder if the contract stipulates "We get out of the contract when LeBron retires,"? ) The Cavs are believed to be the fifth NBA team to reach agreement on a sponsorship patch, joining the Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets. The NBA is beginning a three-year trial program next season that includes sponsorship patches on jerseys, an initiative Adam Silver has supported since taking over as the NBA’s commissioner. (BOLD mine.) I hadn't considered this... The deal is a victory for Goodyear, particularly with Akron native LeBron James back in Cleveland. The defending champions are on national television nearly 30 times a season. James and Kyrie Irving consistently rank as two of the league’s top jerseys in sales annually. ...the patch will, naturally, be included on all replica jersey sales.
  16. I don't have time to read this EMU pregame article this a.m., but I sure agree with the title: ABJ: Senior Kwan Cheatham holds keys to Zips' success on the court
  17. We offer scholarships to student "leaders," don't we? Use them. I've mentioned this before, but Hoban has an outstanding student section. So do Hudson, STVM, Jackson & Lake. I'm sure there are other area high schools with great student sections. Recruit UA students who were former leader of those student sections & have them round up their hs friends who are also UA students & get a great, choreographed student section going. So many great high schools in the immediate region, getting a great student group together at UA should be a piece of cake. Honestly, you'd think it would happen naturally.
  18. I posted this last night, but as I look more closely he's a JUCO & states he's a "mid-year 2017" grad. So I guess that means he'll graduate in the spring & could be here for fall camp?
  19. "I was going to do a quick write up on it yesterday, but I was busy with the women’s shootyhoops power rankings. I was confident that the story would receive the attention that it deserved elsewhere. It didn’t." He's looking at you, Akron Beacon Journal.
  20. Thanks, Zipsoutsider! Busy night last night!
  21. +1 I'm going to bet it's 1. Ball 2. Sands 3. Edwards 4. Morgan Red shirts for Suggs & Bridges.
