  1. Hey, now...
  2. Akron Beacon: Zips fall 66-65 in waning seconds at BUGS
  3. When our threes are falling it's an exciting brand of basketball, but (aside from the Golden State Warriors),
  4. I've been saying this as well. Gently, but truthfully. We're not nearly as good as our record indicates. Winning by the skin of our teeth in the MAC. Even if we'd go undefeated in the MAC by winning by the skin of our teeth, that's a recipe for another 1st-round exit in the Big Dance.
  5. Ah, I was a little confused by your comments at first. By "sketchy" you mean risky. When I hear "sketchy" I think "shady," or under-handed. A sight that depends upon paid subscriptions as opposed to advertising revenue would be forced to produce a quality product, as opposed to simply baiting for clicks.
  6. I'm still a bit confused by this new fangled ESPN arrangement. Tonight's game is listed on ESPN3, but was picked up by Spectrum Sports (like, apparently every single Zips game). Does this mean it will be blacked out on ESPN3 tonight?
  7. +1. The ABJ's coverage is simply not professional quality. A 16 year-old with a blog, a conscience, and a little zest for the gig could easily trump the ABJ's Zips' coverage every time. The ABJ obviously has no employee performance reviews or even an industry-standard concern for quality.
  8. Kwan's gotta try to drive to the hoop a bit more, just to keep defenders honest & on their heels a bit more. They were all over him on the 3-line. Good for K.ent, btw, they did a great job with that. Big Dog is pretty much a constant. But it seems apparent that as Kwan goes, so the team goes.
  9. Akron Beacon: Zips look to rebound on rod after record home winning streak snapped This has been my take as well: The Zips haven’t been winning in dominating fashion like a team looking to close out the season by sending a message to prospective opponents in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. Bluntly, I don't think we're as good as our record would indicate. We've played a fairly weak schedule and have a bunch of close wins over MAC opponents. Better than a bunch of close losses, for sure. But we're not blowing out anyone in the MAC & I don't think we strike much fear in the hearts of anyone. “We’ve been playing like this all year,” Dambrot said. “We haven’t been kicking anybody’s ass. It’s unfortunate.” Oh, and Breaking News: George Thomas has reported that this year the MAC Tournament is being held at Cleveland State. "...in the Mid-American Conference Tournament, set for the first week of March at Cleveland State."
  10. Jatavis was at the K.ent game and apparently yesterday was his birthday. Awesome of him to come back for the big game on his birthday weekend
  11. Definitely seems like a completely lost season for Hughes.
  12. This was the difference IMHO: The Flashes outshot the Zips 43 percent to 42 percent, with the primary difference coming from behind the 3-point line where Kent State made 7-of-19 to the Zips’ 5-of-22. The Zips came in averaging close to 11 3-pointers per game. GT also address the horrendous start to the 2nd half. During the course of Kent State’s run, UA shot 1-of-11 from the floor and at one point didn’t score for more than a seven-minute stretch.
  13. Kent State looking forward to 'opportunity' against Zips Friday On a roster laden with transfers, eight Flashes have never played against UA. Jeez.
  14. Akron Beacon: In the market for a certain olive jar?  University of Akron has just the house for you.
  15. Akron Beacon: Zips looking to extend home winning streak to 31 against rival Golden Flashes This is impressive: With a backcourt in flux for much of the season, Hall, a 6-8 senior forward, has carried a heavy load for the Flashes and leads the team in scoring (18.0), rebounding (10.5) and assists (2.5). And KD was complimentary toward to Golden Flushes front court: “I think they have really good players in that spot,” he said. “I think they’re really disjointed in that they have so many guys, they’re not sure which guys to play. Whereas with us, it’s more clear cut.”
  16. You're right. I don't. I probably should. Bowling Green & Ball State just don't do it for me for some reason.
  17. Agreed. Bowling Green
  18. There are a bunch of tweets about this on Hustlebelt's twitter feed. Here are a few:
  19. There was some buzz on twitter last night (if I have time I'll try to find some links to post) about UConn wanting to join the Big East in basketball. Apparently the American Athletic Conference wouldn't allow UConn to be a football-only member, but the MAC is considering. This is all preliminary right now & there might not be anything at all to the rumor. But what would you guys think? We tried this once before with UMass and the result was not good. Would UConn be a big enough name to stoop to allowing them football-only status?
