  1. Thanks. And wow, was that even with the split squad?
  2. How'd the Walsh scrimmage go?
  3. In the Pennsylvania Class A state championship game, Malik Miller's Farrell High got blown out 85-53 by Philadelphia's Constitution High. Malik, however, scored 24 points and was named Farrell player of the game.
  4. http://www.ohio.com/sports/high-school/boys-basketball-st-vincent-st-mary-67-poland-seminary-44-undefeated-irish-roll-into-division-ii-regional-final-1.576445 STVM vs. Poland Seminary game story.
  5. Went & saw Josh & STVM play Poland Seminary tonight. Josh was on fire. He scored 27 points and I only remember him missing one shot all night. He stops & pops 3's on the fast break. http://www.ohio.com/sports/prep-stats/high-school-scores-summaries-and-schedules-1.576425 What impresses me most about Josh is his demeanor. He's unflappable. Cool, calm & collected - very much like Noah Robotham. He'll make another nice complement to Antino, who is, as KD says, "an explosion."
  6. #3 seed Notre Dame got absolutely all they could handle from #14 (& Stow Bulldog-led David Walker) Northeastern.
  7. GT on today's game versus K-State. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/women-s-college-basketball-seeking-first-postseason-victory-akron-opens-wnit-at-kansas-state-on-thursday-1.575972
  8. Bickering & lawsuit within the engineering corrosion program. http://www.ohio.com/news/break-news/university-of-akron-administrator-susan-louscher-files-suit-against-school-engineering-dean-george-haritos-1.575918
  9. Instant Classic.
  10. Buffalo's legit. Especially if Moss' ankle is feeling better.
  11. Well said. This illustrates many fans' disillusionment with our less-than-demanding schedule.
  12. I think many of us are to the point where straws are breaking backs. It's an accumulation of factors couched in a generally sub-par culture surrounding UA athletics administration. There seems to be a real sense that we on ZN.O care exponentially more about UA athletics than those who are paid to care. I know that little things (that in and of themselves should not be big deals) have begun to really annoy me.
  13. +1. I almost posted earlier this a.m. that I'd like to see some A-10 schools on the schedule.
  14. GT on Zips' first spring practice. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/college-football-akron-opens-spring-practice-with-battle-at-qb-1.575423
  15. Limiting it to the Top 5 makes it awfully exclusive. But I just wanna drop the name... Tron Jenkins!!! (My very first "favorite" Zip.)
  16. Don't you think it's about time the Zips get new uni's? How many years have we been wearing our current whites & blues? I'd say... hmm... 4 years? It's time for a fresh look.
  17. This is a well written, but old article from Hustle Belt concerning the arena proposal which never made the ballot in November. http://www.hustlebelt.com/akron-zips/2014/4/24/5645480/the-proposed-new-arena-in-akron-a-realistic-look Since this article was written, UA has said they're willing to sink $30 million into renovating the JAR. Most on here, including myself, were (extremely) disappointed with that. The article says that the proposed arena would have cost $76 million. If UA is willing to put up 30 million, how on earth can Akron (& Summit County) not come together for an additional $46 million? Goodyear FirstEnergy FirstMerit Summa LeBron/Nike The City of Akron Summit County Diebold Jo-Ann Fabrics Collectively, there just has to be $46 million in there. Name the arena. Name the court. Name the various entrances. Name the... whatever! Come together, Summit County! The Zips, and downtown Akron, need a new arena - not a refurbished JAR.
  18. I was reading an article on Akron's "Serial Pooper" by Bob Dyer. In the context of the story going viral, Bob mentioned this fact: "We have a big electronic board in the newsroom that shows which stories are being read the most on our website at that moment, as well as how long people are reading each story and where the readers are coming from (another Ohio.com story? Facebook, Twitter or Reddit? Links on other websites?)." Just thought I'd mention that if we want more Zips coverage, we've definitely got to give Zips articles "hits" on Ohio.com!
  19. GT's article. http://www.ohio.com/blogs/ua-zips/university-of-akron-zips-blog-1.277207/zips-football-qb-battle-will-be-a-wide-open-affair-1.575401
  20. I'd go with Jimmal Ball over Steve McNees.
  21. I only see two names listed on both starting lineups - DeVera and Garcia-Aguilar. So we basically split our squad & tied a semi-pro team and beat another D-1 college team. I'd consider that to be pretty impressive!
  22. If Hurley was our coach we'd think he was UA's next Caleb Porter. He's a fighter & instills an air of confidence and toughness in his squad. I hope he stays at Buffalo. I'm beginning to really enjoy the rivalry.
  23. Who is Bill Livingston?
  24. Should this be considered troubling, or par for the course in college soccer? And thanks for the info!
  25. Just saw on Facebook that the Zips declined a post-season bid. Season's over. Good season, fellas!
