  1. Both Lartey and Alexander were pretty highly-touted coming out of high school. And last year the Zips were very... very... VERY bad.
  2. Here is George Thomas' article on ZD11's move to WR.
  3. Taylor Made Jewelry is located in the Ellet district and is a big supporter of Zips athletics. Ohio.com
  4. I hope he can take a hit.
  5. Sadly true.
  6. Plus 6'4" shooting guard Caris LaVert from Pickerington. He was amazing in the state D-1 championship game.
  7. True, the MAC would probably kick our football team out.
  8. Any chance we could get in on that?
  9. Baseball Zippers won again today, beating Ballsack State 6-3.
  10. I think Mello is going to have to come right in and contribute meaningful minutes at backup PG. I really don't know what kind of contributions Ibitayo & Justice can make on our current team. They both seem like odd-men-out as we don't really run w/a 2-guard anymore. We seem to want to run w/a PG & 2 wings. Ibitayo, though only 6'3", with his 6'9" wingspan could probably fill that role. Justice however, I see as a role player who comes in and just strokes the 3. Egner's been, to me, very underwhelming. I hope he can give some quality minutes next year. Losing Nik, we're going to be thin in the post (Zeke, Tree, Harney... Egner.) Three post players, however, may be sufficient. Once things shake out (around 1/3rd-ish of the way into next season?) this is how I envision our rotation: PG: Rico, Mello W: Gilliam, Walsh, Q P: Zeke, Tree, Harney That's a solid 8-man rotation. All contributors. All getting plenty of PT. I think incoming wings Kretzer (6'7") & McAdams (6'6") will both be redshirted and made ready to take over for Gilliam and Q the following year.
  11. Great game. Dunbar wins by 2. Dunbar was the faaaar better team. But Reggie was a one-man wrecking crew, finishing with 24 points. Reggie was by far the best player on the floor - even though Dunbar has 3 D-1 commits. Also, someone else previously mentioned Elida sophomore PG Dakotah Mathias, but that dude is going to be the real deal.
  12. Beautiful facility. 10,000-seats. Suite level. Exactly what we need.
  13. George Thomas is the man. Here is an article about UA Baseball's 4-0 MAC-opening victory over Ball State.
  14. I know it would be rough on our recruitibg vs OU, but I was definitely pulling for OU. I came up out of my seat when Offut hit that and-one toward the end of regulation. I think the turning point was when Cooper had his breakaway layup blocked. That turned into a 6-point swing, as UNC went down and hit one of two free throws, got the rebound & hit a three for a 4-ooint possession. It went from OU potentially being up by six, to a tied ballgame with only a couple minutes left. Tough loss, but man, did OU represent the MAC well, or what?! Good show, fellas. Oh, and btw, that game was close even with the Magnificent Mr. Cooper having an awful shooting night.
  15. UNC keeps their 7-footer in the paint. Rocket science?
  16. I listened to the game online. Elida was the far superior team, as theynheld a hapless St. clairsville scoreless in the first quarter and ended up winning by, IIRC, 30 points. However, I'm expecting Dayton Dunbar to smash Elida tomorrow. Dunbar is huge and deep. But Reggie has definitely proven himself to be an elite player. Edit: And, btw, the Elida-Dunbar game will be televised tomorrow, but I'm betting this won't be a great game by Reggie, as Dunbar will probably be able to slow him down.
  17. How about transfer QB Dalton Williams working with the first team? And glad to hear JUCO DE Albert Presley is making an impression!
  18. +1. I have no idea how any of those guys kept playing ball like they did. I said it a few different times last year, they all had a lot more resolve & fight than I would have. Ianello absolutely sucked all the life out of me.
  19. Hilarious quote concerning Ianello: "Only weeks later he would be replaced by the great Terry Bowden, who has already surpassed Ianello on the all-time Akron coaching list (coming soon) without ever coaching a game!Though Rob Ianello might not fit in with the others on this list due to never having much high hope to begin with, he somehow managed to fall far below even the lowest of expectations. Going 2-22 and single-handedly demolishing a D1 program – with top-notch facilities nonetheless – surely earns Ianello the top spot on this list, if not the top spot all time on the list of Biggest Zips Busts." And I wouldn't have the Big 3 on the list either. They played very well and laid the foundation for UA's basketball upswing.
  20. Got a little time on your hands, eh?
  21. Good observation. That's a tough loss, he was probably the most versatile player on the team.
  22. Good. IMHO he was our D's hardest hitter.
