UNC-Asheville is taking on NCState tonight. At the half they lead the #16-ranked Wolf Pack by 3, 37-34. We beat UNC-Asheville by 19 in Puerto Rico. Just thought this might be of interest to some.

I believe that was Ken Carmen (sp?) When he first began his breakdown, it sounded as if he thought Akron's decision to go D-1 was wrong to begin with and Joe Dunn tore into him. I was proud of Joe. But then Ken made it clear he just wanted to discuss the many administrative mistakes Akron's made since moving to D-1. Your above list are some of the things he would have done differently. I believe he wanted Lee Owens to remain as HC, and thus why he wanted Rodriquez to stay as AD. Yes, he hopes TW sticks around for consistency's sake. He was tired of AD's using Akron as a stepping stone job. Joe Dunn agreed. I guess TW's done an okay job, but man, I'm still bitter over TW's hiring of iCoach - the single worst hire in the history of D-1 college athletics. That hire completely ruined any chance of using momentum granted by the opening of the Info. On top of that, I have to remind myself that we got lucky in hiring Terry Bowden. TW screwed up the Paul Winters deal & then was surprised that Coach Bowden was interested in us. I don't have any confidence in TW's ability to evaluate & hire a coach. However, now that we've got coaching stability in our most prominent athletic programs - Coach Bowden, KD, Jared Embick, Rick Rembielak, Newt Engle ('Meister) - maybe we do need stability at the top?

I believe we'll only lose one corner (Commack), as Malachi Freeman is listed as a junior. We've got that Colorado State transfer waiting in the wings to fill Grigg's DE spot. Then we've got James Price (6-0, 305) coming back from academic ineligibility to play DT next season. I think we need ONE great JUCO DT for next season (to give us a rotation of 4), as both Grice & Caponi will be back. We'll also be getting Jamar Williams back at LB. Add him to Justin March (stud), Jatavis Brown & Jamel Turner and we've got a GREAT LB crew (heck, maybe Rossi will have a breakout year?). All things considered, IMHO we look to be in pretty good shape.

Yes! He doesn't need to be Mike Vick; just pose a threat to scramble for 4-5. Keep the LB's honest. KP16 also has the ability to throw the deep ball (unlike DW) & thus stretch the field with his arm. Both those factors should help loosen up defenses next season. KP16 looked good!

I didn't think OSU looked like a very good team, but apparently the Zips actually did have a lot to do with that. D@mn those suspensions. I also watched the NCST -vs- UMass game and thought NCST looked fantastic. Every game is different, but these results should give the fellas a lot of confidence going forward. A couple notes: 1) I like Big Z's recent aggressiveness on offense. 2) It was nice seeing Melo looking much more comfortable running the point.

He didn't cost UA the game. Actually, the whole team looks a bit out of synch save, perhaps, B-Walsh and, surprisingly, J-Kretzer. Betancourt has really looked like a true freshman in our first two games (John Carol doesn't count.) McAdams also really struggled today. I think we all know Zeke is Zeke. Won't dominate or be a threat in the paint, but will get into opponents heads on D. That's good, not great. And that's okay. We'll get it together. I've been in a sour mood since the CC loss. However, I'm starting to feel like myself again. We'll get this thing turned around and be a Top 50 team by the end of the year. (Prediction: we won't get it turned around in Puerto Rico - Tree & Harney are going to be a tad rusty & out of shape -it's surprising how fast you get out of game shape- and the team is going to have to take a few games to learn to play with them.)
