I know this board is anonymous (who cares who "Blue & Gold" is? No one.), but I definitely owe TW an appology for some of the things I've posted on ZNO over the last few days. This is an excellent hire and I'm excited about Zips football again. I really had lost faith. This feels GREAT! I'm not anonymous at all on here, and called for Tom Wistrcill's head a few days ago. Opps!! That's right! Well, you've got bigger brass balls than I.

I don't either. This is about the best scenario I could have imagined at this point. +1. This has truly been a rollercoaster ride. But it looks like we're gonna finish on a high note! I'd definitely be happy with this hire. TB would bring a lot of instant credibility to Zips football.

No offense to Green, but honestly, I hope he transfers out and opens up a scholly for us. He just doesn't fit our new-found athletic style. Bring in a JUCO C/5 to back up Zeke.

Well, I know a girl who's a freshman @ Mount Union & she had the runs for the first month of school. So UA is probably par for the course.

big time football name family member. Sounds like Bowden If this is true, it's definitely a name that would stoke up the Greater Akron area. I've been on such an emotional rollercoaster the past 3 weeks that I'm rather numb right now. Once bitten twice shy, I guess. Though I'd be excited in this hire, I'm not allowing myself to feel anything right now.

+1. Don't leave us hanging, Hollywood Zip. Throw out a little prediction. It doesn't matter if you're wrong; we've all been wrong thus far. [edit]: Thanks for the tip, Hollywood Zip. You posted just before I did.

He doesn't cut the most attractive profile, but he still might look good on the Akron sidelines. We'll just have to put in a special order of some size XXXXXXXXL Shirts, Sweats and Jackets for him. No big deal. Kangaroo: Are you sure you didn't confuse him with the old Toledo coach? It's easy to make that mistake. Not sure I understand this question? I don't see anything that's been said that would apply to Toledo Tom. Former Toledo HC Tom Amstutz also wore a size XXXXXL.

Proenza's Ego is Killing Towson Football
Blue & Gold replied to ZipperRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Football
CK, I hope you don't permanently ban Doug Snyder. I appreciate his dialogue here as he really makes ZNO a more interesting place. If you feel that you have to do something, maybe a temporary ban, ala GoZips? I just think everyone's on edge & aggravated right now over this prolonged coaching search. -
Stanford grabs Charlotte coach Jeremy Gunn
Blue & Gold replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Man, this is too bad. Charlotte futbol fans have to be pretty devastated right now. Count me with bobbyake in hoping they find an even better replacement. I think Akron-Charlotte would make a nice rivalry. -
I liked how they apologized for causing people to drive their cars off the road. So... were they joking? There's not much activity on ZNO tonight. I'd figure that if ZNO posters heard that one, and took it seriously, then ZNO would be blowing up right now.

Proenza's Ego is Killing Towson Football
Blue & Gold replied to ZipperRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Football
This is my thought. That TW never really wanted PW and would make a half ass presentation, so that he could say that he did make the effort. But if this were the case, wouldn't TW have had his #1 guy ready to go as soon as PW "turned down" the low-ball offer? And how does this have anything to do with Towson football? -
Abreu looked pretty good walking around for a guy who had knee surgery yesterday. During the post game show KD said he didn't expect Rico back for the VCU game. I hope he's wrong. Based on what you said, with 10 days to recover and his current condition, KD is probably just sand-bagging. I expect Abreu will be on the floor or at least get in the game to see how he feels. It seems like from what I read that he's determined to play in the VCU game. I hope he gets his wish. He seems like a very good point guard and it will be great prep for our conference season to go against a guy of his caliber. I don't know why KD made Abreu wait so long to have the surgery. The only thing I can figure is that KD felt we might need him to beat YSU? I doubt that, but what else could it be? Anyway, we are a different team without Alex. With Alex, we can be awfully good. Without Alex, meh. Frankly, w/o AA we can be just awful. Even if AA is good to go for VCU, he's not going to be his usual self. Which is disappointing for everyone.

I agree. Whenever I've been able to watch him in an in-game timeout huddle, he's always got his eyes glued to KD & hanging on every word he says, or any of the coaches say for that matter. He really seems like he wants to learn as much about b-ball as he can.

He was probably just listening to Frenchy and Dunn. What problem I had was he had a hat on as well. He clearly did not look like a professional. It's not a huge deal but I would have liked him to show some respect towards his teammates and the program. A hat as well? Well, that settles it....someone call the cops. How is listening to music and wearing a hat not respectful to his teammates? Yikes, did it turn into the 1950s in here again? On top of it all, he was wearing neither a tie nor a sportcoat. In all seriousness, slightly older folks are generally dismayed at how casual our society has become. I don't think it's either here nor there, but I see this attitude in church as well. The younger folks dress very casually, whereas the older folks still dress-to-kill; of course they say they're just showing respect to the Lord by dressing to the nines. It's a generational thing. I seriously doubt Harney was intending any sort of disrespect in sporting an iPod & hat.

I've been crying for Big Zeke to quit trying to block every shot for a year! Just be satisfied with altering the shots. It's not as exciting as a block, but is still effective, and will help him avoid foul trouble. Additionally, Zeke continually leaving his feet in order to block every shot also costs him rebounding positioning.

Yes, people are jumping the gun. It is all based off of one tweet that said "he is mulling it over along with possibly pursuing NFL coaching opportunities". Which sounded to me like a good ploy to say "eh, better come at me with more if you want me". Okay, thanks for the clarification. I thought I might have been missing something.

From posts on various threads, it sounds as if Loefler is a no go? But I can't find any post actually ruling him out. Are we jumping the gun in dimissing Loefler, or is there a post/thread I've overlooked?

Is Our Head Coach "Search" a Sham?
Blue & Gold replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I don't see a contradiction there, ZW. CK was simply stating that there was, in actuality, no sincere search happening & that TW was just sitting around waiting for PW. Essentially not accomplishing much of anything over those three weeks. Then when PW declined the offer, TW probably crapped his pants. I wonder if TW is beginning at all to suspect himself an idiot. -
Two mornings in a row! Rimshot.
