  1. Great to see George Thomas all over this HUGE story! Here is Michael Beaven's contribution from the Akron Beacon Journal.
  2. Simple. Get rid of TW!! IF,this is true,I hope this puts to rest the idea than some had that just because Akron has 'nice facilities' that coaches would fall all over themselves to get here. Now because of the history and the people who are currently running the show, the program has to take what appears to be the leftovers. Whether or not this signals Wistrcill's exit,we'll see. Wouldn't be surprised. HOPEFULLY,and hope is all we have, whoever is hired can get this turned around in a couple of years. Otherwise, this program is going to continue to freefall to who knows where! I think we're now officially in hell. It can't get any lower than hell, right? Well, perhaps we're still on the 1st ring of hell? If that's the case we can expect to follow TW down to the 9th circle.
  3. I’m stunned, for certain. I wasn’t in the room but I can’t imagine Paul getting a great offer and saying, “That’s a great offer, no thanks.” So I conclude there wasn’t an offer made that was good enough to lure him out of a comfortable situation. I’ve been thinking his options were Akron or Wayne, but who knows, in 12 months there may be another couple dozen openings better suited for him. I can see Paul feeling a certain obligation to his school, but not this athletic department. Who knows, there may be a time when Akron & Paul’s needs align. Hopefully the faithful here won’t hold this against him, he wasn’t involved in the hype & excitement of this site; he didn’t snub you. I however, did participate to feed and feed off the excitement of his possible hire. I really wanted to enjoy UA football again. But without the PW buzz, I don’t think this will be as fun. Take care all. This was a one shot deal. Paul Winters will never be offered this job again. The administration can ill afford to have a D2 coach, let alone a former player and alum say thanks, but no thanks. It is an enormous black eye to the program. I have already gotten several texts from friends today talking about how pathetic our football program is because we couldnt even get a former player to come here that is coaching D2 in the slums of inner city Detroit. It is truly pathetic. PW is a native Akronite. A St.V/M alum. A former Zip RB. A UA alum. A D-II coach. Located in inner-city Detroit. And said, "Naw."
  4. Just ask for two in the first row of the loser's section. You can say that again!!! We're clicking tonight (why can't we click every night? some night's we're awful.) and so YSU is running into the proverbial buzzsaw. But YSU is a good looking team - athletic, quick & can definitely shoot the 3. They lack bigs. But I can see why eguins is excited about this team. I'd love to see Eargle sporting blue and gold (and grey ).
  5. Who does he remind you of? That's a good question, which I don't really know the answer to. But with his height, muscularity, explosiveness & all-around athletic ability, if he keeps improving his mid-range jumpshot & defense, I just think he could find his way onto an NBA bench.
  6. This has me so bummed I didn't even go to the YSU game tonight. I'm just slumming @ home watching the game online.
  7. Good grief, if Tree keeps steadily progressing he's NBA.
  8. I'm glad to see ChaUncey get the start tonight. Lumberjack will be glad to see that I've learned how to spell Chauncey's name.
  9. Damion Eargle is tough. He had a rough go of it here last year, but he's averaging over 10 ppg & over 4 blocks per game.
  10. I just turned on 1350 and I think Frenchie said Harney was playing.
  11. Poor InTheZone. He's got to be more depressed than anyone right now. ITZ hasn't posted a single time today. I know I'm bumming. I thought PW was an ideal fit. Especially for our situation. I was thinking of PW as another KD. Crap. Looks as though we've wasted 3 precious weeks in waiting on PW.
  12. His name is Chauncey with an u between the a and the n...Just in case you wanted to know... Oops, right... Chauncey. My bad.
  13. Brief announcement concerning PW's contract extension from the Wayne State University website.
  14. I'm pretty pumped for the game. I really do like the rivalry (wish you guys would just give in & play football @ the Info every year - wait, give a a couple years to get our feet under us). I hope the Zips are as up for the game as I am. If they are, I'm predicting a pretty convincing win, seeing as how you guys struggled against Toledo. However, I was also expecting a convincing win last year and we were lucky to beat you guys. I hope YSU brings their 'A' game. Hoping Chancey & Nik continue their good play & hope Brett decides to actually play some ball. Ironically, he was the one to get us over the hump against you guys last year. Go Zips!
  15. Oh, boy. Looks like ITZ hit the nail on the head. I really like Scot Loefler. I love the fact he's from Barberton. I just don't think he's quite ready to be a head coach.
  16. +1. This is how I've long interpreted the circumstances surrounding a candidate "removing their name from consideration" so far along into the process.
  17. Wow, Men's Soccer is the runaway winner right now. Though we're the futbol capital of North America and, ironically, our American football team is embarrassingly bad, I still thought football would come out on top simply due to the immensity of the sport's popularity. If futbol is beating out football, it's easy to tell futbol is extremely popular here and that our football team is
  18. Whoa. I just looked over the final stats & see that Brett McClanahan had zero points. Wow, not good.
  19. Courtesy of GoZips.com. I wasn't able to see the game tonight, but I like the fact that KD said, "Nicola played like the old Nicola," or words to that effect.
  20. I was able to catch the 4th quarter. Wild finish! Great game.
  21. All great stats Dave, here are a few more from Nik: FG% - .405 FT% - .529 Turnovers/game - 2.4 Points/game - 8.1 Those are unacceptable numbers. When your starting PF is shooting 40% from the field and turns the ball over almost as much as your starting PG you are going to struggle to win games. I don't care how many boards he grabs or how many 3's he hits. If these types of performances continue I would not be at all surprised to see Tree starting at PF by the time we reach MAC play. I agree. This puts KD in an awkward position, as we were really crossing our fingers & putting pressure on Nic to come back for one more year. But he's gotta do what's best for the team.
  22. Those are the sentiments I was trying to convey in my above post.
  23. Your wish is my command. Thanks! +1 (First plus one I have ever posted - I was about to make the same request - what in the world possessed you to do it in the first place?) Just being stupid.
  24. I know it's a hypothetical, but that would be incredibly lame & he shouldn't want to be here working for higher-ups who would have that thought process.
  25. Well, tough loss. But it was a very good game. Very entertaining to watch. Congrats on a great season, WSU & PW!
