  1. I've also watched it three times. Fellow dorks, unite!
  2. I thought Holmes was supposed to provide that additional option. He was supposed to be a scoring machine. What's happened to him?
  3. Zeke is like the college version of Tyson Chandler? Yeah, now that he mentions it, I can see where he gets that. Pretty good comparison.
  4. Dick Vitale was watching last night. Or at least he gets LeBron's tweets. He tweeted back to LeBron after the game, and got a knock in on the fact we aren't going to MSG: "Akron 68 - Miss St 58 - let the fun begin - yet Miss St will go to Madison Sq Garden- not a tourney."
  5. King James blowing us up to his roughly 3 MILLION followers on twitter:"Watching Akron vs Miss St on ESPNU. Let's go Zips!""Wanna thank the play by play guys doing the Akron/Miss St game on ESPNU for the compliments! I really appreciate it. U guys are awesome!!""Let's go ZIPS!! Keep pushing. I like it, keep going""Pause by the way!!" (I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.)"YES SIR!!!!!!! Huge win by Akron U tonight on the road in the SEC!! Congrats Coach D, Rico, Q, Zeke, Serb, Nick, Brett, Walsh, and the rest of the guys #ZIPS"
  6. I might be missing it (I hope I'm missing it!) but I don't see a story about last night's victory on the Akron Beacon Journal's website!
  7. Great find!
  8. Good call. I don't watch much SportsCenter anymore, but I'll have to be sure to check it out tomorrow a.m.
  9. And let's not forget Deji Ibitayo didn't even play tonight.(We should redshirt Deji; we already have too many athletes to get minutes, i.e. Gilliam)
  10. It was kind of a downer seeing this headline scroll along the bottom of the screen all night during the Zips b-ball game on ESPNU.
  11. GP1 going BIG!
  12. The spread may have been wrong, but the result the same.Handwringers, don't worry about the Zips. They are in late season form and getting better because of the summer activity. You were right about the early season cohesiveness! I thought it'd take them half-a-season to get the whole chemistry thing going. I'm thrilled to say I was WRONG!!! Top 25, here we come!
  13. He's got that old Rip Hamilton type of mid-range game.
  14. One thing I liked was that the announcers were trying to figure out why Bost had such a sub-par game. They said Akron just sped him up too much. If we sped up Bost -one of the best PG's we'll see this year- to the point of taking him out of his game, our D may be awfully good this year.
  15. Absolutely. I thought we'd get off to a slow start this year and I didn't pick us to win tonight. Boy was I wrong!!! The ESPNU announcers heaped high praise on the Zips tonight, calling them mature, composed, quick, long, athletic, aggressive, well-coached, confident, saying simply, "The best team won tonight." Wow.
  16. Miss. State isn't going near the paint. Zeke owns it when he's in the game. He's in all their heads. He literally changes the game even if it doesn't always show up on the stat sheet. He's owning that Miss. St. big man everyone's been talking about.
  17. I'll be pleasantly surprised with a win tonight. I still think we've just got too many new pieces that must fit together for this team to get off to a fast start. Tonight, facing similar athleticism, the Zips are going to have to react much more quickly than against JC (or in Canada) & have that 6th sense -cohesion- which just doesn't really develop until you get some games under your collective belts.None-the-less, go Zips!
  18. Sounds like KD still wants Deji to play this year:"The Zips' steadiest guard throughout the preseason, 6-3 freshman Deji Ibitayo, suffered a knee injury and is out at least a month. His loss was evident against JCU, as the Zips had a whopping 25 turnovers. Ibitayo should be up to speed by the semester break and hitting top gear by the conference season and the MAC Tournament..." I must admit, I wasn't overly impressed with Brian Walsh @ backup PG against John Carroll.
  19. This one is truly disappointing, but if Toneo was admitted to the Naval Academy, great move for him.
  20. Big game next week -vs- Wadsworth. Classic old Suburban League matchup. Should be a good one.
  21. Tressel was on the Can't sideline Friday night. Say no more.Keener, you wrote, "Say no more," but I'm not sure what you're getting at here or where you were going with that. Go on.
  22. Speaking of silver/gray being incorporated into the color scheme of many schools, I now have new favorite football uniforms - Oklahoma State is currently wearing their gray helmets & pants w/ black jerseys & orange numbering. They're simply awesome.
  23. And as our women's team more than doubled-up on poor Ohio Dominican.
  24. iCoach has a 5-year contract which we'd have to pay should we fire him. Question: What about his staff? Are they all on extended contracts as well and would we have to eat that $$ too?
