  1. I know, I'm disappointed too. I'm beyond sick of losing too. I'm actually glad I couldn't get any of my friends to come to the game with me today (weather.) But I'm not giving up on JD yet. I don't know what to think about the 3-3-5. In my mind, I just consider it a version of the 3-4. But I do know that the D-Line has been decimated and that if we had Bain and Lively in there it may be a different story. Looking at the youth on the roster I also think our D-Line is poised to be good for years. Ditto for RB, OL, QB, DBs & WRs. I think we're in good shape but have played the most difficult part of this season's schedule under-manned.
  2. Oh, well. Can't win them all. We'll drop a few spots but hopefully not too far. Caleb has turned this program into a consistent Top 10 club in the 3rd most significant sport in collegiate athletics! You can't buy publicity like that!
  3. Where are the locker room facilities in this new stadium?
  4. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon is 70% chance of rain. Wear a poncho!
  5. Walked around the stadium sight today. It's looking beautiful! You can see the cement stairs/tiers in the north-west section and they are already putting red brick and sandstone facing on a structure in the concourse on the western 50-yard line. The red brick is a great shade of red and the sandstone looks classy too! It's going to be gorgeous!
  6. I may be wrong, but I think that those $17 jerseys are the old white jerseys left over from the Lee Owens era - when they still used yellow instead of gold. If not, please correct me because I'd buy a $17 blue & GOLD jersey, but not a blue & yellow one.
  7. You may want to hold off on your purchase for another year. Odds are, we're gonna have new jerseys next season to open the Info, right?
  8. You'd think someone on here would have caught wind of the commercial before it aired. What, is their production top secret, or do they whip a commercial like that together so fast that they may have just flown Zippy out there a day or two ago? I'm just surprised we didn't know a month or two ago that Zippy may or may not be in a new ESPN commercial.
  9. I saw that too! He's waiting patiently to see Adrian Peterson but Peterson's personal assistant tells him that, "He'll see you when he sees you." Zippy just sort of silently sighs. And yeah, you can plainly read FEAR THE ROO!
  10. Btw, just for kicks, what would the possibly-revised Big East look like?
  11. Add Louisville to the rivalries list, and also don't forget our new soccer stadium - which may be the most attractive soccer stadium in the nation!
  12. You're right. I think the 'Cuse Nation is going to be disappointed when they only rush for about 30 yards this week against Penn State.
  13. Here's a McManamon story on the potential ramifications of the Zips win over Cuse from today's ABJ. Good story.http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/28042249.htmlPM references the media's shock and the Cuse's whinning about how they lost to Akron. He defends Akron well by stating..."Syracuse can talk all it wants about its failures, and there were many, but UA did not win because Syracuse did a Fosbury Flop. UA won because it did a lot right and deserved to win."And I think McManamon is spot-on with his view of what this means for the Akron program..."But whether the game is a new low for Syracuse — as King wrote — or the most recent new high for the Zips pretty much depends on how things go from here."
  14. Here's a link about the story from today's ABJ (9/9/08).http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/28042329.html
  15. Linhart, McKnight and Cvetinovich would be my guess. Has Cvetinovich really impressed people this offseason? And why not start Sweich? I've been looking forward to having a truly big-bodied center for 2 years now! I want to see his 6-10 250 lbs. out on the floor!
  16. YES! ABSOLUTELY YES! And I was one of biggest nay-sayers on the board - thinking that JD was blowing smoke always commenting on how much Jac had improved this off-season. JD was ABSOLUTELY right! Jac's looking magnificent! That's a winning D-1 QB right there!!! (Truth be known, though, after last year's showing I've still got my fingers crossed that he keeps up his excellent play all-year-long.)
  17. Agreed. Now, the questions for me are:1) Is Pitt that bad?2) Is Minnesota that good?3) Is BG that much better than Buffalo?4) Where do we stand???In week #1 Minnesota was fortunate to squeak out a victory over Northern Illinois. NIU should have won that game; Minnesota scored a TD with about 30 seconds left in the game. So another question is whether NIU is that good?!
  18. Good.Funny thing is...if he was in our backfield, he'd be 3rd string.Or 4th!
  19. Does anyone have any information on how the West Virginia game is going?
  20. I'm with uakronkid. I think we've found something with this guy! After the Wisky game I said on another thread that I have a new favorite player - Tyler Campbell! I respectfully disagree with Kadar. When I read his comment I just had to laugh at the different perspectives. I know TC got burnt on a handful of plays but IMHO that's because he was ALWAYS AROUND THE BALL. When you're involved in almost every play from scrimmage you're going to win some and lose some. IMO, the number of tackles he had is more indicative of the ineffectiveness of our D-Line, but none-the-less, TC was a ball-hawk. He was never out of the view of the camera; always around the ball. When I heard that this walk-on named Tyler Campbell was pushing Jalil Carter for the starting job, I was surprised and frankly, thought, "Whatever." Jalil Carter is a much better athlete than TC - I believe Jalil finished second in the state in the 100-meters both his junior and senior years. But TC is just a throwback, blue-collared, ball-hawk football player. He is our next John Mackey.
  21. I agree. I don't think most people realize how good Ball State is. Buffalo is an up-and-comer and also very good. Both BGUS and Cincy are good teams and I always like playing Toledo. This year's home schedule is great!
  22. I really like the last sentence of the article!:The stadium is on schedule for the Sept. 19, 2009, opening at InfoCision Stadium/Summa Field as the Zips take on the Indiana Hoosiers, marking a new era for Zips football on the attractive and growing campus of The University of Akron.
  23. I hope DT decides to play a little D, because if not, with RB Dale Martin coming online next season, DT may have to get used to watching from the sideline.
  24. Along the DL I know freshmen Hasan Hazime and Dan Marcoux were in there and I believe I also saw true freshman James Harvey out there.
  25. I thought Jac looked VERY good today! JD was right and I happily eat crow! The D was just a bit overwhelmed today. We're not going to see another team close to the caliber of Wisky the rest of the way out, so I think it looks right now like we're gonna have a good year! The new wide receivers are really special and I have a new favorite player... Tyler Campbell! That dude was flyin' all over the field hitting anything that moved today!
