  1. Hope does spring eternal but should that scenario not work out it's always nice to know that

  3. Tending bar at Schroeder's every night was how I worked my way through my last couple of years at the University of Akron. I learned almost as much through those late night conversations with Chas as I did in some of my classes. Only one "Dining Hall" for dorm students and it was in the Student's Center when I first started. The University has changed quite a bit over the years (usually for the better) but some of those memories will never fade. :thumb:  :thumb:
  4. I think that this would be an improvement over what the marketing department (no caps) currently does. Anything would probably be an improvement.
  5.  I would like to add my admiration for the story that is Stephon Fuqua. Graduated with a degree and then goes on to pursue further education and participate in athletics also. This is someone that younger kids should emulate.
  6. One of my daughters graduated from K.S.U. .... but I still love her.
  7. Also that photo must have been taken before the game as later on there was approximately 50% more people seated in the reserve section.
  8. I would not attempt to estimate the size of the crowd, but I thought it was decent. Cincinnati brought tons of fans, the general admissions side of the Rubber Bowl was probably filled with 2/3 or more of those in attendance being for the Bearcats.
  9. I just bought five tickets tonday so we should hit the 25K figure now. :thumb:
  10. And the congregation said "AMEN"
  11. This is a ZIP fan chat board .... and I for one am getting a little tired of seeing and hearing about Ohio State on this board. Whether it is defending the buckeyes or ripping them I feel it is an unnecessary distraction from the main purpose of this board. That is talking about the ZIPS.
  12. Back in the 60's and early 70's when the Zips were Division I and playing in the Ohio Conference they had some winning teams. What the didn't have was anywhere near a full Rubber Bowl during the season. As a student during that time (living on campus without a car) I had a tough time even getting to the Rubber Bowl, but when I got there the crowds were about a quarter of the size that I was used to in high school. Coach Dennison did have a couple good attendance years (actually just games) when he made the NCAA Division I Playoffs. Didn't know the answer then and still don't know the answer now. :wall:
  13. Dish Network shows another game at 3:30 PM on Chanel 425. So I guess I'll be heading down to the Ohio Brewing Company.
  14. You obviously haven't been paying attention. We'll keep him in check. He just needs a second chance. Just because he got in trouble once doesn't mean he will do it again. Besides, he's only beating up women!! Did I mention he's a great player?!?! WELCOME ABOARD!!! "Besides, he's only beating up women"I personally don't care if he is guilty or innocent. I also don't care if he deserves a second chance or not. I don't think we should touch him with a ten foot pole, if he is guilty of beating up women what kind of RB can he be. He should be out there beating up men.
  15. Rowdy Zip Said:"It's ok. He'll be severely punished this year. That DUI netted him a solid one-game suspension thanks to that crazy athletics department. I heard through the grapevine that this arrest will net him suspension for one practice AND one game in '08."The latest news is that Singletary hired a lawyer who met with Kennedy and the disciplinary actions was reduced to one practice and warmups and the 1st half of a game in'08. The cheerleaders are also required to whisper his name during the half he plays.
  16. The Beacon ran this story in today sports page:http://www.ohio.com/sports/27799509.htmlThe Beacon said that "Singletary averaged 10.3 points and 3.2 rebounds a game last season. " But they forgot to mention that he averaged 4.0 arrests. :screwks: :screwks:
  17. As I read between the lines. UofA we don't want you to walk away from us. No doubt in my mind no matter what Manny claims. They want to sell their blighted properties. They just still want as much as they can get for them and they now know UofA will not pay the 3.1 mil for Joe's I also don't think a real estate broker is going to be able to help Manny come December the new trial date for his IMO, this will be settled through mediation. If a third party is brought in to determine the price, it won't be nearly as much as what they court ordered UA to pay. There's still no way in hell that that parking lot is worth $1 million.I fully agree that that parking lot is not worth $1 million. However I have also learned that you should never, never, never put yourself in the hands of a 3rd party mediator or in binding arbitration as you will often be surprise at the outcome.
  18. Seriously? This is a weak move by the athletic department, or the MAC office, whoever is in charge of the schedule here.It just tells people that we're second-rate. Why the hell should we base our schedule around another, unrelated school's game time? I don't care who you root for, this is weak.I personally Like the shift to a 1:00 PM start, however to say that it is so "football fans in northeast Ohio, who can now watch two great football games in their entireties" is not "weak" it is just plain stupid. If I was in charge of the Athletic Department whoever wrote that would be very lucky to have a job the next day. :mad_flame:
  19. UOfA would have to pay damages which would be the legal fees. But, Joe Nemer would be stuck with property that's blighted and he has no tennats other then the tatoo palor. The building has lead and absetos issues that need to dealt with and that's costly. He has a choice right now. Comeback to the table and negoiate in good faith for FMV and not that outlandish jury award of 3.1 mil. Or get your legal fees back and expect Summit county to reasses your property taxes for that flawed amout the real estate broker claimed in court. There no way he'll get the needed businesses revenues even with a new stadium and dorms nearby to survive for very long without major renovations to his blighted business. I fully expect some kind settlement in the range of 1.5 to 1.7 million in the very near future. Unless Joe as gone brain dead for greed. If the University of Akron walks away from this deal, even though that is what I would expect, it will still cost them roughly a half million in damages and legal fees, to get nothing in return. And as for the reassment of the Nemar's property tax, well I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. I don't see any upside from this FUBAR situation.
  20. Yes it is ..... Does anyone remember what happened to the Buchtel High Science (or Math) teacher on his way to school a couple of months ago??? A concealed carry and a gun in his car may or may not have saved his life.
  21. There seems to be several high caliber recruits coming to the University in the next couple years. A National Championship is looking better and better and I thought I would never say that! :thumb: :thumb:
  22. I fail to see why it is so important to be wearing Nike uniforms and wearing Nike shoes rather than Adidas. I have worn both Nike and Adidas (as well as Footjoy) golf shoes and I didn't see any difference in the way I played. Is Lebron going to pass up the "big bucks", obtain an NCAA exemption, and play 3-4 years for the Zips now that we are going to wear the same brand shoe that he wears?
  23. My son and I had this same discussion and he changed my opinion with the same reasoning. In addition he brought up the point that some property is in the family for generations and no matter what the condition the property has a special significance to that family.
  24. Whoops my mistake this appeared in the Beacon Journal ......
  25. How can anyone still be a student yet not be allowed on campus or be able to attend any University function. Isn't classes a function of the University?
