  1. So...how many guys are graduating/out of eligibility after last season? Would this give us an idea of available scholarships for this class?
  2. Is it odd that Newman Williams signed and we're still waiting on Junius?
  3. First line posted last night was a PK...which is probably as accurate as it gets for these rivalry games.
  4. Per George Thomas on Twitter, a deal is in final stages for a DB coach. I bet we hear Friday.
  5. A big fat 0 min for Deji makes me think he's ill, but it wasn't mentioned in the pregame or injury report. Anyone know anything? We played 9 guys tonight...small rotation (for a Dambrot team).
  6. It is a nice webcast. I can't get it full screen on I.e. or Firefox, though. Zips came to play, look like a different team from Saturday. Still some sloppy turnovers, but probably about 1/3 as many as in the previous MAC games. Anyone else rather see Big Dog out there for some of Pat's minutes? He seems to have lost all confidence offensively.
  7. What does that even mean? Some fans on this board were hoping for the Zips to lose the tournament and a shot at an at-large? I've got to say, leaving Hawaii 8-2 with wins over Oregon State, Iowa State and Boise would've given the Zips resumé the clout they need come March, assuming a strong MAC run per usual. I'm as disgusted with those last two performances as the next guy. It's nice to have had a shot, like we will next yr in Charleston.
  8. None of us WANT it to be about "3 days at the Q," but barring winning all the rest of the games, we're not getting at large. Even then it'd be doubtful. I think it'd take a 30-win, top 25 rpi resumé for a MAC team to get consideration. C'est last vie. Had our chance in a marquee tournament, but 40 minutes of shitty basketball doomed us.
  9. The last two second halves in Hawaii were every bit as bad as the first half vs Detroit. I have faith they'll get the consistency needed, but tonight was hard to watch. The one thing that stood out to me in the tournament was Jake's poor play. I've got to wonder if that ankle is still an issue for him. Slow on D and his shot is off (plus forcing WAY too deep on the 3s).
  10. And Harney with 8 of the Zips first 10 points....
  11. There's no need to defend anything. It was an exhibition. Besides, the Zips played well. 19:4 assist/TO 14/32 (.458) 3pt 7/8 (.875) FT Opponent 11:12 assist/TO. A decent 44% from the field overall. Malone shot 38%. If I had to nitpick a stat, it would be that we only outrebounded them 36-33. But still, that's not bad playing an 8 man rotation (Betancourt's 3 min don't count) and with out Tree or Kretzer. I love how some folks are hitting the panic button after a couple of losses in games we were near double digit underdogs. They'll get adjusted. We lost two of arguably the toughest positions to lose, and they were star players and leaders (Abreu/Zeke). We'll be fine.
  12. Well this is overkill. While expectations would be diminished, Dambrots best freshman class would be pressed into duty and the Zips will still contend in the MAC. Still hope everything calms and Tree stays with the team.
  13. I'd feel a lot better about potentially picking up win #4 if it was more a consequence of playing good football rather than playing terrible Mac bottom feeders. Man this has been some ugly football. 3 lost fumbles in 1 quarter and some stupid penalties. I wouldn't be shocked if we lost.
  14. To clarify, the Zips/Can't Football game is also basketball season ticket holder appreciation day. I was wondering if any other basketball season ticket holders going to the football game Saturday had heard anything about the promo as the flier is a little vague. But thanks for the snark.
  15. I went and picked up my Mens basketball season tix and got a flier about basketball season ticket holder appreciation and new jersey replicas. Anyone know anything about this?
  16. A few prices I remember: Scoreboard: I thought it was $1,100 Set of six light poles: $1300 Set of two goalposts: $700 Troughs: weren't sold. Neither were sinks or toilets. I took off before the bleachers. If anyone bought some and would like to sell one, I'm looking to pick one up. Please PM me. Or if you have contacts with the new owners. Thanks.
  17. I hate Ohio State with a passion. Part of it is jealousy, I'll admit it. But until Zips football does something to carve out a niche like Cinci has done down south, I can't blame locals for cheering on the team 2 hours down I-71. Do I need help too? I also hate our local rivals. K-ent, OU, UT...hatred is natural in sports if you're passionate about YOUR team. BuckZip might need a little counseling over his paranoia that the NCAA is so much harder on the Big Ten than other major conferences.
  18. Myself, Bleacher Bum and a couple other friends are taking the fan bus up. Perhaps we'll search out our fellow Zips.
  19. With all due respect, consider the source on that one. Kilby is kind of a nut and an outsider to the Don and his boys. There are ways the city can help beyond direct compensation also, as I don't doubt finances are still in poor shape.
  20. Anyone watch the preview show on TWCS or whatever the hell it is? Jeremy Guy tweeted it would be blacked out in Ohio.
  21. Hehe Section 8.
  22. Last I heard, we have one, maybe two, games left to get nailed down in order to announce the full schedule.
  23. For a little perspective on this time frame, that was my 28th birthday and my girlfriend bought us tickets and a nice hotel room. We're now married more than 3 years and expecting our first little Zippy. Incredible. We also were at the Carrier Dome for the sweatbox win.
