  1. Well if there's one thing we are good at it's getting tooled.
  2. Not to be picky but the guy didn't say that you hadn't been legitimately tailgating. He said you hadn't done any authentic collegiate tailgating. Please consult your Official Collegiate Tailgating Manual for the distinction.
  3. watch the video, some old dude said that. not RhoadesHey I didn't make the quote up, I just copied it. Either way, all you guys thinking you have been doing authentic collegiate tailgating at Akron games have been deluding yourselves.
  4. I don't know how good they are but it would give us a game under our belt before IU. I think we'll probably open with an FCS team at home most years from now on.We already have a game under our belt before IU. Or does playing at Penn State not count?Of course it counts, but we don't want to open the new place with Morehead State. Only logical solution, play them at the Rubber Bowl. That way we can close the old place with a win.
  5. "We will for the first time have authentic collegiate tailgating activities going on before and after the game," said Mack Rhoades, Athletic Director.Bet you jazzbows thought you were doing authentic collegiate tailgating before, didn't you. Well, you were wrong, so there.
  6. All of the above are excellent suggestions but pale in comparison to my suggestion. If you want an activity sure to keep you on the edge of your seat keep track of the recruiting efforts of the rifle team.
  7. Truly amazing. I'll bet you are really good at 'book learnen.' Did you read the last sentence of your quote?
  8. Your lack of knowledge is amazing.
  9. Sure sign that things are getting back to normal. This board isn't clogged up with posts from the 50 bandwagon jumpers who chimed in the last couple of weeks.
  10. Thanks for clearing that up. We thought you were saying the guy was hairy and wet.
  11. That's another thing. KD isn't half as colorful as Tony. I remember an Akron City cop telling me about the time he pulled Tony over driving on High Street late one night (or early one morning). The cop took a look at Tony's companion and asked Tony if he knew the name of the person sitting next to him. Tony replied, "Sure, that's Linda." The cop recognized the individual from previous brushes with the law and said, "No, Tony that's Frank." i went to the games at memorial hall from around '68 on...when Wyatt Webb was there and the Zips were a real force in the 'college' division memorable hall was PACKED...when they played Kentucky Weslayan,Philadelphia Textile,Gannon,Evansville etc etc...that was a pit...no team wanted to play there...Ah...I remember that time well. The crowds were something. Seemed like the place was packed for every game. Then the black students decided to protest how unfair things were and sat in mass in the bleachers under the American flag and refused to stand for the national anthem.. Made everybody real uncomfortable, the crowds dwindled and I don't think ever really recovered.

  13. The point is not in the population numbers, but in the nationwide interest. North Dakota in itself might not have a lot of people but the more widespread the interest is, the more inclusive the tournament becomes thereby continuing to raise that level of interest. Delaware is already interested since the Blue Hens have made it before , but sadly South Dakota is still not part of it, having never sent a team to the tournament (in fact, the same is also true for only New Hampshire and Alaska, but Alaska does not have any D-1 basketball teams). It sounds like a vicious circle to me. I just hope for continuity sake that you were in favor of expanding the MAC on the other thread cause according to your logic the more teams we include the higher the interest in the conference will be. I say screw North Dakota and all them little black and green lizards that scurry across highway 2 along the Canadian border.
  14. You make a good point. Getting the entire state of North Dakota interested in the tournament is the same as getting 45% of Cuyahoga County interested. Now if we can just get South Dakota and Delaware interested they are really going to have an event on their hands.
  15. Who is willing to move down? I have never seen anything to suggest that any program is seriously considering this move. Has any program ever moved down?Closest geographically and semi-recent example - University of Dayton.I am pretty sure Dayton never had a DI-A program. It would benefit the MAC if we were able to shed some programs that not pulling their weight. You are right that several schools are not pursueing excellence within their program rather looking for the easy fiscal answer. Let them drop, I would be happy to see our conference remain with the best eight schools. Two questions........how old are you?Wanna place a wager based on your knowledge of Dayton football?

  17. I remember how, for years, we used to blame Can't State for preventing us from getting into the MAC.
  18. I predict a 14 point Akron win.
  19. You wennie. You can drive to Portland in 5 hours if you average 495 mph.
  20. Looks like the big event was sold out. If you want tickets for next year I recommend getting your name on the waiting list now.
  21. So to recap the thread to this point....GP1 thinks the Zip defense was outstanding. On another topic, winning a basketball title sure brings out the folks to Zips Nation! This is the biggest thing to hit Akron since Jenna became the first female freshman to win an NCAA title.
  22. A 13 seed wouldn't be bad, but I predict once the tournament officials realize Akron is in they will suspend the rules to put the Zips in the play in game in Dayton making them a 16.5 seed.
  23. I predict we will win by 11.5 more
